1 Kings 8:38-40

38 whatever prayer or petition
anyone from Your people Israel might have—
each man knowing his own afflictions[a](A)
and spreading out his hands toward this temple(B)—
39 may You hear in heaven, Your dwelling place,
and may You forgive, act, and repay the man,
according to all his ways, since You know his heart,
for You alone know every human heart,(C)
40 so that they may fear(D) You
all the days they live on the land(E)
You gave our ancestors.

38 and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of the afflictions of their own hearts, and spreading out their hands(A) toward this temple— 39 then hear(B) from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive(C) and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know(D) their hearts (for you alone know every human heart), 40 so that they will fear(E) you all the time they live in the land(F) you gave our ancestors.
