And he put the blood of war on his belt [b]about his waist, and on his sandals [c]on his feet. (D)So act according to your wisdom, and do not let his gray hair go down to [d]Sheol in peace. But (E)show kindness to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and (F)let them be among those who eat at your table; (G)for they [e]assisted me when I fled from Absalom your brother.

He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood he stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet. Deal with him according to your wisdom,(D) but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace.

“But show kindness(E) to the sons of Barzillai(F) of Gilead and let them be among those who eat at your table.(G) They stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
