⁴ and so that the Lord will fulfill his promise that he made to me: ‘If your sons take care to walk faithfully before me with all their heart and all their soul,^(A) you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’^(B)

⁴ As for you, if you walk before me as your father David walked, with a heart of integrity and in what is right, doing everything I have commanded you, and if you keep my statutes and ordinances,^(A)

⁸ And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and faithful love to my father David, and you have made me king in his place.^(A)
