Adonijah’s Request

¹³ Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, “^(A)Do you come peacefully?” And he said, “Peacefully.”

²² Now it happened that when ^[a]Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Is it peace, Jehu?” And he ^[b]answered, “What peace, ^(A)so long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her sorceries are so many?”

¹⁷ David went out before them, and he answered and said to them, “If you come peacefully to me to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, since there is no violence in my hands, may the God of our fathers look on it and reprove.” ¹⁸ And ^(A)the Spirit clothed ^(B)Amasai, who was the chief of the thirty, and he said,
