³ And he ^[a]was afraid and arose and ^[b]ran for his ^[c]life and came to ^(A)Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his young man there. ⁴ But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree; and ^(B)he asked for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough; now, O Yahweh, take my ^[d]life, for I am not better than my fathers.”

² “Arise, go to ^(A)Nineveh, the great city, and ^(B)call out against it, for their ^(C)evil has come up before Me.” ³ Yet Jonah arose to flee to ^(D)Tarshish ^(E)from the presence of Yahweh. So he went down to ^(F)Joppa, found a ship which was going to Tarshish, and ^[a]paid its fare and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of Yahweh.
