17 And him who escapes from the sword of Haz′ael shall Jehu slay; and him who escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Eli′sha slay. 18 Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Ba′al, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

19 So he departed from there, and found Eli′sha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing, with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he was with the twelfth. Eli′jah passed by him and cast his mantle upon him.

17 Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael,(A) and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu.(B) 18 Yet I reserve(C) seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed(D) him.”

19 So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak(E) around him.
