8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha became king over Israel at Tirzah, and reigned for two years. 9 And his servant (E)Zimri, commander of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now [c]Elah was in Tirzah drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, (F)who was in charge of the household in Tirzah.

6 Baasha rested with his ancestors and was buried in Tirzah.(A) And Elah his son succeeded him as king.
7 Moreover, the word of the Lord came(B) through the prophet Jehu(C) son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger by the things he did, becoming like the house of Jeroboam—and also because he destroyed it.

9 Zimri, one of his officials, who had command of half his chariots, plotted against him. Elah was in Tirzah at the time, getting drunk(D) in the home of Arza, the palace administrator(E) at Tirzah.
