¹⁵ “So Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and ^(A)He will uproot Israel from ^(B)this good land which He gave to their fathers, and ^(C)will scatter them beyond the ^[a]River, ^(D)because they have made their ^[b]Asherim, provoking Yahweh to anger.

²³ They also built for themselves ^(A)high places and sacred ^(B)pillars and ^[a](C)Asherim on every high hill and ^(D)beneath every green tree.
