New International Version

⁹The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared^(A) to him twice.

⁹And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

¹⁰Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods,^(A) Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command.^(B)

¹⁰And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.
