⁷ At that time, Solomon built a high place^(A) for Chemosh,^(B) the detestable idol of Moab, and for Milcom,^[a](C) the detestable idol of the Ammonites, on the hill across from Jerusalem.^(D)

²³ They also built for themselves high places,^(A) sacred pillars,^(B) and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree;

³ He removed the pagan altars and the high places. He shattered their sacred pillars and chopped down their Asherah poles.^(A)

⁵ He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah,^(A) and the kingdom experienced peace under him.
