¹¹ So Yahweh said to Solomon, “Because this has happened with you: you have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, so ^(A)I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

²⁸ Now the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor. And ^(A)Solomon saw that the young man was ^[a]industrious and appointed him over all the load-bearers of the house of Joseph.

² And it happened, ^(A)when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it, ^[a]he was living in Egypt (for he was yet in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon).

²⁰ Now it happened when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, that they sent and called him to the congregation and made him king over all Israel. ^(A)None but the tribe of Judah followed the house of David.

⁶ Yet ^(A)Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his ^[a]master,
