1 John 4:19-5:3

^19 (A)We love because he first loved us. ^20 (B)If anyone says, “I love God,” and ^(C)hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot^[a] love God ^(D)whom he has not seen. ²¹ And ^(E)this commandment we have from him: ^(F)whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Overcoming the World

5 ^(G)Everyone who believes that ^(H)Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and ^(I)everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. ^2 (J)By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. ³ For ^(K)this is the love of God, that we ^(L)keep his commandments. And ^(M)his commandments are not burdensome.
