1 John 3:4-9
New American Standard Bible
4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and (A)sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He (B)appeared in order to (C)take away sins; and (D)in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who remains in Him (E)sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or [a](F)knows Him. 7 (G)Little children, make sure no one (H)deceives you; (I)the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is (J)of the devil; for the devil [b]has been sinning from the beginning. (K)The Son of God (L)appeared for this purpose, (M)to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who has been (N)born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God.

New International Version
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.(A) 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.(B) And in him is no sin.(C) 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.(D) No one who continues to sin has either seen him(E) or known him.(F)
7 Dear children,(G) do not let anyone lead you astray.(H) The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.(I) 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil,(J) because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God(K) appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.(L) 9 No one who is born of God(M) will continue to sin,(N) because God’s seed(O) remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
