2 Beloved, (A)now we are children of God; and (B)it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, (C)we shall be like Him, for (D)we shall see Him as He is. 3 (E)And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
Sin and the Child of God
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and (F)sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know (G)that He was manifested (H)to take away our sins, and (I)in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

2 Dear friends,(A) now we are children of God,(B) and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a](C) we shall be like him,(D) for we shall see him as he is.(E) 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves,(F) just as he is pure.(G)
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.(H) 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.(I) And in him is no sin.(J) 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.(K) No one who continues to sin has either seen him(L) or known him.(M)
7 Dear children,(N) do not let anyone lead you astray.(O) The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.(P)
