Christ Our Advocate
2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 Now by this we may be sure that we know him, if we obey his commandments. 4 Whoever says, “I have come to know him,” but does not obey his commandments, is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist; 5 but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we may be sure that we are in him: 6 whoever says, “I abide in him,” ought to walk just as he walked.
A New Commandment
7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word that you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new commandment that is true in him and in you, because[a] the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9 Whoever says, “I am in the light,” while hating a brother or sister,[b] is still in the darkness. 10 Whoever loves a brother or sister[c] lives in the light, and in such a person[d] there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates another believer[e] is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness.
12 I am writing to you, little children,
because your sins are forgiven on account of his name.
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young people,
because you have conquered the evil one.
14 I write to you, children,
because you know the Father.
I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young people,
because you are strong
and the word of God abides in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world; 16 for all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 And the world and its desire[f] are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever.
Warning against Antichrists
18 Children, it is the last hour! As you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. From this we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But by going out they made it plain that none of them belongs to us. 20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and all of you have knowledge.[g] 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and you know that no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ?[h] This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he has promised us,[i] eternal life.
26 I write these things to you concerning those who would deceive you. 27 As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.[j]
28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he is revealed we may have confidence and not be put to shame before him at his coming.
Children of God
29 If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who does right has been born of him.

L’amore fraterno e la separazione dal mondo
3 (A)Da questo sappiamo che l’abbiamo conosciuto: se osserviamo i suoi comandamenti. 4 Chi dice: «Io l’ho conosciuto», e non osserva i suoi comandamenti, è bugiardo e la verità non è in lui; 5 ma chi osserva la sua parola, in lui l’amore di Dio è veramente completo. Da questo conosciamo che siamo in lui: 6 chi dice di rimanere in lui, deve camminare come egli camminò.
7 (B)Carissimi[b], non vi scrivo un comandamento nuovo, ma un comandamento vecchio che avevate fin da principio: il comandamento vecchio è la parola che avete udita[c]. 8 E tuttavia è un comandamento nuovo che io vi scrivo, il che è vero in lui e in voi; perché le tenebre stanno passando, e già risplende la vera luce. 9 Chi dice di essere nella luce e odia suo fratello, è ancora nelle tenebre. 10 Chi ama suo fratello rimane nella luce e non c’è nulla in lui che lo faccia inciampare. 11 Ma chi odia suo fratello è nelle tenebre, cammina nelle tenebre e non sa dove va, perché le tenebre hanno accecato i suoi occhi.
12 (C)Figlioli, vi scrivo perché i vostri peccati sono perdonati in virtù del suo nome.
13 Padri, vi scrivo perché avete conosciuto colui che è fin dal principio. Giovani, vi scrivo perché avete vinto il maligno.

Gli anticristi
18 (D)Ragazzi, è l’ultima ora. Come avete udito, l’anticristo deve venire, e di fatto già ora sono sorti molti anticristi. Da ciò conosciamo che è l’ultima ora. 19 Sono usciti di mezzo a noi, ma non erano dei nostri; perché se fossero stati dei nostri, sarebbero rimasti con noi; ma ciò è avvenuto perché fosse manifesto che non tutti sono dei nostri[e].
20 Quanto a voi, avete ricevuto l’unzione dal Santo e tutti avete conoscenza[f]. 21 Vi ho scritto, non perché non conoscete la verità, ma perché la conoscete e perché tutto ciò che è menzogna non ha niente a che fare con la verità. 22 Chi è il bugiardo se non colui che nega che Gesù è il Cristo? Egli è l’anticristo, che nega il Padre e il Figlio. 23 Chiunque nega il Figlio, non ha neppure il Padre; chi riconosce pubblicamente il Figlio, ha anche il Padre[g].
24 Quanto a voi [dunque], ciò che avete udito fin dal principio rimanga in voi. Se quel che avete udito fin dal principio rimane in voi, anche voi rimarrete nel Figlio e nel Padre. 25 E questa è la promessa che egli ci ha fatta: la vita eterna.
26 Vi ho scritto queste cose riguardo a quelli che cercano di sedurvi. 27 Ma quanto a voi, l’unzione che avete ricevuta da lui rimane in voi, e non avete bisogno dell’insegnamento di nessuno; ma siccome la sua unzione vi insegna ogni cosa ed è veritiera, e non è menzogna, rimanete[h] in lui come essa vi ha insegnato.
Le caratteristiche dei figli di Dio
28 (E)E ora, figlioli, rimanete in lui affinché, quando egli apparirà, possiamo avere fiducia e alla sua venuta non siamo costretti a ritirarci da lui, coperti di vergogna. 29 Se sapete che egli è giusto, sappiate che anche[i] tutti quelli che praticano la giustizia sono nati da lui.

2 Meine Kinder[a], dies schreibe ich euch, damit ihr nicht sündigt! Und wenn jemand sündigt, so haben wir einen Fürsprecher[b] bei dem Vater, Jesus Christus, den Gerechten;
2 und er ist das Sühnopfer für unsere Sünden, aber nicht nur für die unseren, sondern auch für die der ganzen Welt.[c]
Wahre Gotteserkenntnis zeigt sich im Halten der Gebote Gottes und in der Bruderliebe
3 Und daran erkennen wir, dass wir ihn erkannt haben, wenn wir seine Gebote halten.
4 Wer sagt: »Ich habe ihn erkannt«, und hält doch seine Gebote nicht, der ist ein Lügner, und in einem solchen ist die Wahrheit nicht;
5 wer aber sein Wort hält, in dem ist wahrhaftig die Liebe Gottes[d] vollkommen geworden. Daran erkennen wir, dass wir in ihm sind.
6 Wer sagt, dass er in ihm bleibt, der ist verpflichtet, auch selbst so zu wandeln, wie jener gewandelt ist.
7 Brüder, ich schreibe euch nicht ein neues Gebot, sondern ein altes Gebot, das ihr von Anfang an hattet; das alte Gebot ist das Wort, das ihr von Anfang an gehört habt.
8 Und doch schreibe ich euch ein neues Gebot, was wahr ist in Ihm und in euch; denn die Finsternis vergeht, und das wahre Licht scheint schon.
9 Wer sagt, dass er im Licht ist, und doch seinen Bruder hasst, der ist noch immer in der Finsternis.
10 Wer seinen Bruder liebt, der bleibt im Licht, und nichts Anstößiges ist in ihm;
11 wer aber seinen Bruder hasst, der ist in der Finsternis und wandelt in der Finsternis und weiß nicht, wohin er geht, weil die Finsternis seine Augen verblendet hat.
12 Ich schreibe euch, ihr Kinder, weil euch die Sünden vergeben sind um seines Namens willen.
13 Ich schreibe euch, ihr Väter, weil ihr den erkannt habt, der von Anfang an ist. Ich schreibe euch, ihr jungen Männer, weil ihr den Bösen überwunden habt. Ich schreibe euch, ihr Kinder, weil ihr den Vater erkannt habt.
14 Ich habe euch geschrieben, ihr Väter, weil ihr den erkannt habt, der von Anfang an ist. Ich habe euch geschrieben, ihr jungen Männer, weil ihr stark seid und das Wort Gottes in euch bleibt und ihr den Bösen überwunden habt.
Warnung vor der Liebe zur Welt
15 Habt nicht lieb die Welt[e], noch was in der Welt ist! Wenn jemand die Welt lieb hat, so ist die Liebe des Vaters nicht in ihm.
16 Denn alles, was in der Welt ist, die Fleischeslust, die Augenlust[f] und der Hochmut des Lebens, ist nicht von dem Vater, sondern von der Welt.
17 Und die Welt vergeht und ihre Lust; wer aber den Willen Gottes tut, der bleibt in Ewigkeit.
Warnung vor der antichristlichen Verführung
18 Kinder, es ist die letzte Stunde! Und wie ihr gehört habt, dass der Antichrist[g] kommt, so sind jetzt viele Antichristen aufgetreten; daran erkennen wir, dass es die letzte Stunde ist.
19 Sie sind von uns ausgegangen, aber sie waren nicht von uns; denn wenn sie von uns gewesen wären, so wären sie bei uns geblieben. Aber es sollte offenbar werden, dass sie alle nicht von uns sind.
20 Und ihr habt die Salbung von dem Heiligen und wisst alles[h].
21 Ich habe euch nicht geschrieben, als ob ihr die Wahrheit nicht kennen würdet, sondern weil ihr sie kennt und weil keine Lüge aus der Wahrheit ist.
22 Wer ist der Lügner, wenn nicht der, welcher leugnet, dass Jesus der Christus ist? Das ist der Antichrist, der den Vater und den Sohn leugnet.
23 Wer den Sohn leugnet, der hat auch den Vater nicht. Wer den Sohn bekennt, der hat auch den Vater.
24 Was ihr nun von Anfang an gehört habt[i], das bleibe in euch! Wenn in euch bleibt, was ihr von Anfang an gehört habt, so werdet auch ihr in dem Sohn und in dem Vater bleiben.
25 Und das ist die Verheißung, die er uns verheißen hat: das ewige Leben.
26 Dies habe ich euch geschrieben von denen, die euch verführen.
27 Und die Salbung, die ihr von ihm empfangen habt, bleibt in euch, und ihr habt es nicht nötig, dass euch jemand lehrt; sondern wie euch die Salbung selbst über alles belehrt, ist es wahr und keine Lüge; und so wie sie euch belehrt hat, werdet ihr in ihm bleiben.
Die wahren Kinder Gottes und ihre Kennzeichen
28 Und nun, Kinder, bleibt in ihm, damit wir Freimütigkeit haben, wenn er erscheint, und uns nicht schämen müssen vor ihm bei seiner Wiederkunft.
29 Wenn ihr wisst, dass er gerecht ist, so erkennt auch, dass jeder, der die Gerechtigkeit tut[j], aus ihm geboren ist.

Jézus a pártfogónk
2 Kedves gyermekeim, azért írtam ezt nektek, hogy ne vétkezzetek. De ha valaki mégis elkövet valamilyen bűnt, akkor van, aki segít nekünk, és szót emel az érdekünkben az Atya-Istennél: az igazságos Jézus Krisztus! 2 Ő maga volt az áldozat a bűneinkért — de nemcsak a mi bűneinkért, hanem minden ember összes bűnéért is.
3 Ha engedelmeskedünk annak, amit Isten mondott nekünk, akkor biztosak lehetünk benne, hogy valóban megismertük őt. 4 Aki azt mondja: „ismerem Istent”, de nem engedelmeskedik Isten szavának, az hazudik, és az igazságnak nincs helye a szívében. 5 Aki viszont engedelmeskedik Isten szavának, abban az emberben Isten szeretete elérte a célját. 6 Aki azt mondja, hogy Istenben él, annak úgy kell élnie, ahogyan Jézus élt.
Isten régi-új parancsa
7 Szeretteim, amit nektek írok, az egyáltalán nem új dolog, hanem ugyanaz a régi parancs, amelyet még kezdetben kaptatok. Ez az a tanítás, amelyet már hallottatok, 8 mégis újra mondom nektek, mintha új parancs lenne. Ez az igazság megmutatkozott Jézus életében, és érvényes a ti életetekben is, mert múlik a sötétség, és már ragyog az igazi világosság.
9 Aki azt mondja, hogy a világosságban[a] él, mégis gyűlöli a testvérét, az valójában még mindig a sötétségben van. 10 Aki Isten szeretetével szereti a testvérét, az megmarad a világosságban, és semmi sincs benne, amin mások megütközhetnek. 11 De aki gyűlöli a testvérét, az a sötétségben van, és nem tudja, hová megy, mert a sötétség megvakította.
12 Azért írok nektek, kedves gyermekeim,
mert Jézus Krisztusért
Isten megbocsátotta bűneiteket.
13 Azért írok nektek, apák,
mert ti már megismertétek őt,
aki öröktől fogva él.
Azért írok nektek, fiatalok,
mert legyőztétek a Gonoszt.

15 Ne szeressétek ezt a világot, se a világ dolgait! Aki ezt a világot szereti, az nem szereti az Atya-Istent.
16 Ezek azok a dolgok, amelyek a világban vannak: a régi emberi természet vágyai, a szem kívánságai és az élet kérkedése. Mindezek nem az Atya-Istentől, hanem a világból származnak. 17 Ez a mostani világ azonban elmúlik, és vele együtt az is, amit a hitetlenek kívánnak. Aki ellenben Isten akaratát viszi véghez, az örökké él.
Isten ajándéka és Krisztus ellenségei
18 Gyermekeim, elérkezett az utolsó óra. Ahogyan már hallottatok róla, Krisztus Ellensége el fog jönni. Valóban, Krisztusnak sok ellensége már itt is van, ebből is láthatjuk, hogy csakugyan az utolsó órában élünk. 19 Krisztusnak ezek az ellenségei egy ideig közöttünk voltak, azután elhagytak bennünket. Közöttünk voltak, de valójában sohasem tartoztak közénk, hiszen máskülönben nem hagytak volna el minket. Mivel azonban elmentek, nyilvánvaló, hogy valójában sohasem tartoztak közénk.
20 Gyermekeim, ti mindannyian különleges ajándékot[b] kaptatok Istentől,[c] ezért ismeritek az igazságot. 21 Nem azért írtam nektek ezeket, mintha nem ismernétek az igazságot, hanem éppen azért, mert ismeritek. Azért írtam, mert tudjátok, hogy az igazságból nem származik hazugság.
22 Mi a legnagyobb hazugság? Az, ha valaki azt állítja, hogy Jézus nem a Messiás. Aki ezt mondja, az Krisztus ellensége, mert nem akarja elismerni az Atya-Isten és a Fiú hatalmát. 23 Aki nem hisz a Fiúban, az nem ismeri az Atyát sem. Aki azonban elismeri a Fiú hatalmát, az elismeri az Atyát is.
24 Kövessétek továbbra is azt a tanítást, amelyet kezdettől fogva hallottatok! Ha ez bennetek marad, akkor ti is közösségben maradtok a Fiúval és az Atyával. 25 Mert ez az, amit ő nekünk megígért: az örök élet.
26 Mindezt azért írom nektek, mert vannak, akik megpróbálnak rossz útra téríteni és becsapni titeket. 27 Ti azonban különleges ajándékot kaptatok Istentől, amely most is bennetek van, ezért nincs szükségetek más tanítóra. Az ő ajándéka megtanít benneteket mindenre, és amit mond, az mind igaz, mert benne nincs semmi hazugság. Tehát ahogy ő tanított benneteket, úgy éljetek Krisztusban továbbra is!
28 Drága gyermekeim, éljetek továbbra is Krisztusban! Ha megmaradunk benne, akkor nem kell félnünk azon a napon sem, amikor ő majd megjelenik. Bízhatunk benne, hogy nem fogunk szégyent vallani előtte. 29 Tudjuk, hogy Krisztus igazságos. Ugyanígy biztosak lehettek abban is, hogy mindazok, akik igazságosan élnek, Isten gyermekei.

Le commandement d’aimer
3 Voici comment nous savons que nous connaissons Christ : c’est parce que nous obéissons à ses commandements. 4 Si quelqu’un dit : « Je le connais » sans obéir à ses commandements, c’est un menteur et la vérité n’est pas en lui. 5 Celui qui observe sa Parole a vraiment pour Dieu un amour parvenu à sa pleine maturité. C’est ainsi que nous savons que nous sommes unis à lui. 6 Celui qui prétend qu’il demeure en Christ doit aussi vivre comme Christ lui-même a vécu.
7 Mes chers amis, ce n’est pas un nouveau commandement que je vous écris : il s’agit d’un commandement ancien que vous avez reçu dès le commencement, et ce commandement ancien, c’est le message que vous avez entendu.
8 Mais en même temps, c’est un commandement nouveau[b] que je vous écris, et l’on en voit la réalisation en Christ et en vous, car les ténèbres se dissipent et la lumière véritable brille déjà[c].
9 Celui qui prétend être dans la lumière tout en détestant son frère, est encore présentement dans les ténèbres. 10 Celui qui aime son frère demeure dans la lumière, et rien en lui ne risque de causer sa chute. 11 Mais celui qui déteste son frère est dans les ténèbres : il marche dans les ténèbres sans savoir où il va, parce que les ténèbres l’ont rendu aveugle.
Enfants, pères et jeunes gens
12 Je vous écris ceci, enfants : vos péchés vous sont pardonnés grâce à Jésus-Christ. 13 Je vous écris ceci, pères : vous connaissez celui qui est dès le commencement. Je vous écris ceci, jeunes gens : vous avez vaincu le diable[d].
14 Je vous le confirme, enfants : vous connaissez le Père. Je vous le confirme, pères : vous connaissez celui qui est dès le commencement. Je vous le confirme, jeunes gens : vous êtes forts, la Parole de Dieu demeure en vous et vous avez vaincu le diable[e].
Face au monde mauvais et aux antichrists
15 N’aimez pas le monde ni rien de ce qui fait partie de ce monde. Si quelqu’un aime le monde, l’amour pour le Père n’est pas en lui. 16 En effet, tout ce qui fait partie du monde : les mauvais désirs qui animent l’homme livré à lui-même, la soif de posséder ce qui attire les regards, et l’orgueil qu’inspirent les biens matériels, tout cela ne vient pas du Père, mais du monde. 17 Or le monde passe avec tous ses attraits, mais celui qui accomplit la volonté de Dieu demeure éternellement.
18 Mes enfants, c’est la dernière heure. Vous avez appris qu’un « anti-Christ » doit venir. Or, dès à présent, beaucoup d’antichrists sont là. Voilà pourquoi nous savons que nous sommes entrés dans la dernière heure. 19 Ces adversaires de Christ sont sortis de chez nous mais, en réalité, ils n’étaient pas des nôtres. Car, s’ils avaient été des nôtres, ils seraient restés avec nous. Mais ils nous ont quittés pour qu’il soit parfaitement clair que tous ne sont pas des nôtres.
20 Vous, au contraire, vous avez été oints du Saint-Esprit[f] par celui qui est saint, et vous avez tous la connaissance[g]. 21 Si je vous écris, ce n’est pas parce que vous ne connaissez pas la vérité, mais parce que vous la connaissez, et qu’aucun mensonge ne vient de la vérité.
22 Alors qui est le menteur ? C’est celui qui nie que Jésus est Christ. Et « l’anti-Christ », c’est celui qui refuse de reconnaître le Père et le Fils. 23 Tout homme qui nie que Jésus est le Fils de Dieu ne connaît pas non plus le Père. Celui qui reconnaît que Jésus est le Fils de Dieu connaît aussi le Père.
24 C’est pourquoi, tenez-vous soigneusement à l’enseignement que vous avez reçu dès le commencement. Si ce que vous avez entendu dès le commencement demeure en vous, vous demeurerez aussi unis au Fils et au Père. 25 Et voici la promesse qu’il vous a faite : la vie éternelle.
26 C’est au sujet de ceux qui vous entraînent dans l’erreur que je vous écris ces choses. 27 Quant à vous, l’Esprit[h] dont vous avez été oints par Christ demeure en vous. Vous n’avez donc pas besoin que l’on vous instruise[i], car cet Esprit dont vous avez été oints[j] vous enseigne tout. Il est véridique, il ne ment pas. Restez donc attachés à cet enseignement tel que vous l’avez reçu de l’Esprit.
28 Mes enfants, demeurez attachés à Christ pour qu’au moment où il paraîtra, nous soyons remplis d’assurance et que nous ne nous trouvions pas tout honteux loin de lui au moment de sa venue.

29 Vous savez que Dieu est juste ; reconnaissez, par conséquent, que tout homme qui accomplit ce qui est juste est né de lui.
