8 At the same time, it is (A)a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because[a] (B)the darkness is passing away and (C)the true light is already shining. 9 Whoever says he is in the light and (D)hates his brother is still in darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him[b] there is no (E)cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and (F)walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister[a](E) is still in the darkness.(F) 10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister[b] lives in the light,(G) and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.(H) 11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister(I) is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness.(J) They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.(K)
