1 Corinthians 4:9-17

9 For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, as though sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to mortals. 10 We are fools for the sake of Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. 11 To the present hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clothed and beaten and homeless, 12 and we grow weary from the work of our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; 13 when slandered, we speak kindly. We have become like the rubbish of the world, the dregs of all things, to this very day.
Fatherly Admonition
14 I am not writing this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. 15 For though you might have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. Indeed, in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 I appeal to you, then, be imitators of me. 17 For this reason I sent[a] you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ Jesus, as I teach them everywhere in every church.

9 Es scheint mir nämlich, dass Gott uns Apostel als die Letzten hingestellt hat, gleichsam zum Tod bestimmt; denn wir sind der Welt ein Schauspiel geworden, sowohl Engeln als auch Menschen.
10 Wir sind Narren um des Christus willen, ihr aber seid klug in Christus; wir schwach, ihr aber stark; ihr in Ehren, wir aber verachtet.
11 Bis zu dieser Stunde leiden wir Hunger und Durst und Blöße, werden geschlagen und haben keine Bleibe
12 und arbeiten mühsam mit unseren eigenen Händen. Wenn wir geschmäht werden, segnen wir; wenn wir Verfolgung leiden, halten wir stand;
13 wenn wir gelästert werden, spenden wir Trost; zum Kehricht der Welt sind wir geworden, zum Abschaum aller bis jetzt.
14 Nicht zu eurer Beschämung schreibe ich das, sondern ich ermahne euch als meine geliebten Kinder.
15 Denn wenn ihr auch zehntausend Lehrmeister[a] hättet in Christus, so habt ihr doch nicht viele Väter; denn ich habe euch in Christus Jesus gezeugt durch das Evangelium.
16 So ermahne ich euch nun: Werdet meine Nachahmer!
17 Deshalb habe ich Timotheus zu euch gesandt, der mein geliebtes und treues Kind im Herrn ist; der wird euch an meine Wege in Christus erinnern, wie ich überall in jeder Gemeinde lehre.

9 Úgy gondolom, Isten minket, apostolokat — mindenki szeme láttára — az utolsó helyre állított, s olyanok lettünk, mint akiket halálra szántak. Látványosságává lettünk az egész világnak: angyaloknak, embereknek egyaránt. 10 Krisztushoz tartozunk — ezért mindenki bolondnak néz minket. Ti azonban bölcseknek tartjátok magatokat Krisztusban. Mi vagyunk a gyengék, ti pedig azt hiszitek, hogy erősek vagytok. Benneteket tisztelnek, bennünket ellenben megvetnek. 11 Mindeddig ilyen az életünk: éhezünk és szomjazunk, ruhánk sincs elegendő, sokszor meg is vernek bennünket, hajléktalanok és hontalanok módjára megyünk helyről-helyre, 12 s közben a saját kezünkkel, kemény munkával keressük meg a kenyerünket. Akik átkoznak, azokat áldjuk, s ha üldöznek bennünket, kitartással tűrjük. 13 Mikor szidalmaznak, szelíden válaszolunk. Mind a mai napig úgy bánnak velünk, mintha a világ szemetje, a föld szégyene lennénk.
14 Nem azért írom ezeket, hogy megszégyenítselek, hanem hogy figyelmeztesselek titeket, mint féltett gyermekeimet. 15 Mert lehetne akár tízezer tanítómesteretek is a Krisztusban, de édesapátok csak egy van, hiszen az örömhírt tőlem hallottátok! Így lettem a Krisztus Jézusban a szellemi édesapátok. 16 Kérlek hát, kövessétek az én példámat!
17 Éppen azért küldtem el hozzátok Timóteust, akit szeretek, és aki hűséges szellemi gyermekem az Úrban, hogy juttassa eszetekbe, hogyan élek Krisztusban. Ezt az életmódot tanítom mindenhol, minden helyi gyülekezetben.
