1 Corinthians 3:16-20

¹⁶^(A)Do you not know that ^(B)you are a ^[a]temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? ¹⁷If any man destroys the ^[b]temple of God, God will destroy him, for the ^[c]temple of God is holy, and ^[d]that is what you are.

¹⁸^(C)Let no man deceive himself. ^(D)If any man among you thinks that he is wise in ^(E)this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. ¹⁹For ^(F)the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is ^(G)the one who catches the wise in their craftiness”; ²⁰and again, “^(H)The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.”

¹⁶Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple^(A) and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?^(B) ¹⁷If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

¹⁸Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise^(C) by the standards of this age,^(D) you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. ¹⁹For the wisdom of this world is foolishness^(E) in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”^[a];^(F) ²⁰and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”^[b]^(G)
