25 (A)the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, (B)falling on his face, he will worship God and (C)declare that God is really among you.

Orderly Worship

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has (D)a hymn, (E)a lesson, (F)a revelation, (G)a tongue, or (H)an interpretation. (I)Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in (J)a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others (K)weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, (L)let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of (M)confusion but of peace.

As in (N)all the churches of the saints, 34 (O)the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but (P)should be in submission, as (Q)the Law also says. 35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 (R)If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. 39 So, my brothers, (S)earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 (T)But all things should be done decently and (U)in order.

The Resurrection of Christ

15 Now I would remind you, brothers,[a] of the gospel (V)I preached to you, which you received, (W)in which you stand, and by which (X)you are being saved, if you (Y)hold fast to the word I preached to you—(Z)unless you believed in vain.

For (AA)I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died (AB)for our sins (AC)in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised (AD)on the third day (AE)in accordance with the Scriptures, and that (AF)he appeared to Cephas, then (AG)to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to (AH)James, then (AI)to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, (AJ)he appeared also to me. For (AK)I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because (AL)I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, (AM)I worked harder than any of them, (AN)though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

The Resurrection of the Dead

12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, (AO)how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, (AP)then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that (AQ)he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and (AR)you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who (AS)have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in Christ we have hope[b] in this life only, (AT)we are of all people most to be pitied.

20 But in fact (AU)Christ has been raised from the dead, (AV)the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For as (AW)by a man came death, (AX)by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For (AY)as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then (AZ)at his coming (BA)those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers (BB)the kingdom to God the Father after destroying (BC)every rule and every authority and power.

25 as the secrets(A) of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”(B)

Good Order in Worship

26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?(C) When you come together, each of you(D) has a hymn,(E) or a word of instruction,(F) a revelation, a tongue(G) or an interpretation.(H) Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.(I) 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.

29 Two or three prophets(J) should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.(K) 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets.(L) 33 For God is not a God of disorder(M) but of peace(N)—as in all the congregations(O) of the Lord’s people.(P)

34 Women[a] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak,(Q) but must be in submission,(R) as the law(S) says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[b]

36 Or did the word of God(T) originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks they are a prophet(U) or otherwise gifted by the Spirit,(V) let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command.(W) 38 But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.[c]

39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager(X) to prophesy,(Y) and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly(Z) way.

The Resurrection of Christ

15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel(AA) I preached to you,(AB) which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved,(AC) if you hold firmly(AD) to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

For what I received(AE) I passed on to you(AF) as of first importance[d]: that Christ died for our sins(AG) according to the Scriptures,(AH) that he was buried,(AI) that he was raised(AJ) on the third day(AK) according to the Scriptures,(AL) and that he appeared to Cephas,[e](AM) and then to the Twelve.(AN) After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.(AO) Then he appeared to James,(AP) then to all the apostles,(AQ) and last of all he appeared to me also,(AR) as to one abnormally born.

For I am the least of the apostles(AS) and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted(AT) the church of God.(AU) 10 But by the grace(AV) of God I am what I am, and his grace to me(AW) was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them(AX)—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.(AY) 11 Whether, then, it is I or they,(AZ) this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

The Resurrection of the Dead

12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead,(BA) how can some of you say that there is no resurrection(BB) of the dead?(BC) 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised,(BD) our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead.(BE) But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.(BF) 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep(BG) in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.(BH)

20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead,(BI) the firstfruits(BJ) of those who have fallen asleep.(BK) 21 For since death came through a man,(BL) the resurrection of the dead(BM) comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.(BN) 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits;(BO) then, when he comes,(BP) those who belong to him.(BQ) 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom(BR) to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.(BS)
