1 Corinthians 14:11-13

New King James Version

¹¹Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a ^[a]foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me. ¹²Even so you, since you are ^[b]zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the ^[c]edification of the church that you seek to excel.

¹³Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may ^(A)interpret.

¹¹If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and the speaker is a foreigner to me.^(A) ¹²So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit,^(B) try to excel in those that build up^(C) the church.

¹³For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say.^(D)
