26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Partaking of the Supper Unworthily

27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.[a] 31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are chastened[b] so that we may not be condemned along with the world.

33 So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another—

27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.(B) 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves(C) before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.(D) 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.(E) 32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined(F) so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.(G)

33 So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together.
