1 Corinthians 10:6-8

Good News Translation

⁶^(A)Now, all of this is an example for us, to warn us not to desire evil things, as they did, ⁷^(B)nor to worship idols, as some of them did. As the scripture says, “The people sat down to a feast which turned into an orgy of drinking and sex.” ⁸^(C)We must not be guilty of sexual immorality, as some of them were—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them fell dead.

⁶Now these things occurred as examples^(A) to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. ⁷Do not be idolaters,^(B) as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”^[a]^(C) ⁸We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.^(D)
