1 Corinthians 1:19-31
New American Standard Bible
19 For it is written:
“(A)I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound.”
20 (B)Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of (C)this age? Has God not (D)made foolish the wisdom of (E)the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God (F)the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, (G)God [a]was pleased through the (H)foolishness of the [b]message preached to (I)save those who believe. 22 For indeed (J)Jews ask for [c]signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach [d](K)Christ crucified, (L)to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles (M)foolishness, 24 but to those who are (N)the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ (O)the power of God and (P)the wisdom of God. 25 For the (Q)foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and (R)the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.
26 For [e]consider your (S)calling, brothers and sisters, that there were (T)not many wise according to [f]the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 but (U)God has chosen the foolish things of (V)the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of (W)the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the [g]insignificant things of (X)the world and the despised God has chosen, (Y)the things that are not, so that He may (Z)nullify the things that are, 29 so that (AA)no [h]human may boast before God. 30 But it is [i]due to Him that you are in (AB)Christ Jesus, who became to us (AC)wisdom from God, [j]and (AD)righteousness and (AE)sanctification, and (AF)redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written: “(AG)Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

New International Version
19 For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”[a](A)
20 Where is the wise person?(B) Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age?(C) Has not God made foolish(D) the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world(E) through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save(F) those who believe.(G) 22 Jews demand signs(H) and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified:(I) a stumbling block(J) to Jews and foolishness(K) to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called,(L) both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God(M) and the wisdom of God.(N) 25 For the foolishness(O) of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness(P) of God is stronger than human strength.
26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called.(Q) Not many of you were wise(R) by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose(S) the foolish(T) things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not(U)—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.(V) 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus,(W) who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness,(X) holiness(Y) and redemption.(Z) 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”[b](AA)
