1 Corinthians 14:34-35

34 Women should be silent during the church meetings. They are not to take part in the discussion, for they are subordinate to men[a] as the Scriptures also declare. 35 If they have any questions to ask, let them ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to express their opinions in church meetings.

- 1 Corinthians 14:34 they are subordinate to men, literally, “they are not authorized to speak.” They are apparently permitted to pray and prophesy in public meetings (1 Corinthians 11:5), but not to teach men (1 Timothy 2:12).

New International Version
34 Women[a] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak,(A) but must be in submission,(B) as the law(C) says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[b]
