Now there are (A)varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same (B)God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit (C)for the common good. For to one is given the word of (D)wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of (E)knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another (F)faith [a]by the same Spirit, and to another (G)gifts of [b]healing [c]by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the [d]effecting of [e](H)miracles, and to another (I)prophecy, and to another the [f](J)distinguishing of spirits, to another various (K)kinds of tongues, and to another the (L)interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, (M)distributing to each one individually just as He [g]wills.

Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [a](A)prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are (B)tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with. For we (C)know in part and prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away with.

But (A)to each one of us (B)grace was given (C)according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore [a]it says,

(D)When He ascended on high,
He (E)led captive the captives,
And He gave gifts to people.”

(Now this expression, “He (F)ascended,” what [b]does it mean except that He also [c]had descended into (G)the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended (H)far above all the heavens, so that He might (I)fill all things.) 11 And He (J)gave (K)some as apostles, some as prophets, some as (L)evangelists, some as [d]pastors and (M)teachers, 12 (N)for the equipping of the [e]saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of (O)the body of Christ;

Pay Attention

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to [a]what we have heard, so that (A)we do not drift away from it. For if the word (B)spoken through (C)angels proved [b]unalterable, and (D)every violation and act of disobedience received a just [c](E)punishment, (F)how will we escape if we neglect so great a (G)salvation? [d]After it was at first (H)spoken through the Lord, it was (I)confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by (J)signs and wonders, and by (K)various [e]miracles and by [f](L)gifts of the Holy Spirit (M)according to His own will.
