8 Ἡ ἀγάπη οὐδέποτε [a]πίπτει. εἴτε δὲ προφητεῖαι, καταργηθήσονται· εἴτε γλῶσσαι, παύσονται· εἴτε γνῶσις, καταργηθήσεται.

7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.(A)
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies,(B) they will cease; where there are tongues,(C) they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

8 Love is eternal. There are inspired messages, but they are temporary; there are gifts of speaking in strange tongues, but they will cease; there is knowledge, but it will pass.

7 Love puts up with anything and everything that comes along; it trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what. 8 Love will never become obsolete. Now as for the prophetic gifts, they will not last; unknown languages will become silent, and the gift of knowledge will no longer be needed.
