Descendants of David
3 (A)These are the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second, (B)Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelite, 2 the third, Absalom, whose mother was Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith; 3 the fifth, Shephatiah, by Abital; the sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah; 4 six were born to him in Hebron, (C)where he reigned for seven years and six months. (D)And he reigned for thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 5 (E)These were born to him in Jerusalem: (F)Shimea, Shobab, Nathan and (G)Solomon, four by (H)Bath-shua, the daughter of (I)Ammiel; 6 then Ibhar, (J)Elishama, Eliphelet, 7 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 8 Elishama, (K)Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine. 9 All these were David's sons, besides the sons of the concubines, (L)and Tamar was their sister.

6 (A)Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 (B)“Honour your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, (C)but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
