Descendants of David

(A)These are the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second, (B)Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelite, the third, Absalom, whose mother was Maacah, the daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith; the fifth, Shephatiah, by Abital; the sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah; six were born to him in Hebron, (C)where he reigned for seven years and six months. (D)And he reigned for thirty-three years in Jerusalem. (E)These were born to him in Jerusalem: (F)Shimea, Shobab, Nathan and (G)Solomon, four by (H)Bath-shua, the daughter of (I)Ammiel; then Ibhar, (J)Elishama, Eliphelet, Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, (K)Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine. All these were David's sons, besides the sons of the concubines, (L)and Tamar was their sister.

Children and Parents

(A)Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (B)“Honour your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, (C)but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
