2 Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brethren and my people: (A)I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for (B)the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it. 3 But God said to me, (C)‘You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed (D)blood.’

I had it in my heart(A) to build a house as a place of rest(B) for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool(C) of our God, and I made plans to build it.(D) 3 But God said to me,(E) ‘You are not to build a house for my Name,(F) because you are a warrior and have shed blood.’(G)
