8 But the word of Adonai came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and fought many battles. You will not build a House for My Name because you have shed much blood before Me on the earth. 9 Behold, a son will be born to you who will be a man at rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon and I will confer shalom and quietness on Israel in his days. 10 He will build a House for My name; he will be My son and I will be His Father.[a] I will establish his royal throne over Israel forever.’

8 But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars.(A) You are not to build a house for my Name,(B) because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace(C) and rest,(D) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,[a](E) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet(F) during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name.(G) He will be my son,(H) and I will be his father. And I will establish(I) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’(J)
