8 But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘(A)You have shed much blood and have [a]waged great wars; you shall not build a house to My name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth before Me. 9 Behold, a son will be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and (B)I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for (C)his name shall be [b]Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. 10 (D)He shall build a house for My name, and he shall be My son and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’

8 But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars.(A) You are not to build a house for my Name,(B) because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace(C) and rest,(D) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,[a](E) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet(F) during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name.(G) He will be my son,(H) and I will be his father. And I will establish(I) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’(J)
