1 Chronicles 22:8-10

8 But the Lord spoke his word to me, ‘David, you have killed too many people. You have fought too many wars. So you cannot build a temple for worship to me. You have killed too many people. 9 But, you will have a son. He will be a man of peace and rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies around him. His name will be Solomon.[a] And I will give Israel peace and quiet while he is king. 10 Solomon will build a temple for worship to me. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will make his kingdom strong. Someone from his family will rule Israel forever.’”

New International Version
8 But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars.(A) You are not to build a house for my Name,(B) because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace(C) and rest,(D) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,[a](E) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet(F) during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name.(G) He will be my son,(H) and I will be his father. And I will establish(I) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’(J)
