6 Then he sent for his son Solomon. He told him to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon, “My son, with all my heart I wanted to build a house for the Lord my God. That’s where his Name will be. 8 But a message from the Lord came to me. It said, ‘You have spilled the blood of many people. You have fought many wars. You are not the one who will build a house for my Name. That is because I have seen you spill the blood of many people on the earth.

6 Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build(A) a house for the Lord, the God of Israel. 7 David said to Solomon: “My son, I had it in my heart(B) to build(C) a house for the Name(D) of the Lord my God. 8 But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars.(E) You are not to build a house for my Name,(F) because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.
