The Ark Placed in a Tent

16 And they brought in the ark of God and set it inside ^(A)the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

15 David^[a] built houses for himself in the city of David. And he prepared a place for the ark of God and ^(A)pitched a tent for it.

¹⁶ And the people of Israel, the priests and the Levites, and the rest of the returned exiles, celebrated the ^(A)dedication of this house of God with joy. ¹⁷ They offered at the dedication of this house of God 100 bulls, 200 rams, 400 lambs, and as a sin offering for all Israel ^(B)12 male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel. ¹⁸ And they set the priests ^(C)in their divisions and the Levites ^(D)in their divisions, for the service of God at Jerusalem, ^(E)as it is written in the Book of Moses.

⁶ And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who had assembled before him, were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered. ⁷ Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.

^4 (A)(But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.)

¹² and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites. ^(A)Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, ^(B)to the place that I have prepared for it.

¹⁷ And they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it ^(A)in its place, inside the tent that David had pitched for it. ^(B)And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. ¹⁸ And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, ^(C)he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts ¹⁹ and distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, a cake of bread, a portion of meat,^[a] and a cake of raisins to each one. ^(D)Then all the people departed, each to his house.
