1 ^(A)In the beginning ^(B)God ^(C)created the heavens and the earth.

The Creation of Man and Woman

^4 [a](A)This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in ^(B)the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven.

⁵ This is what God the Lord says,

^3 (A)All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him ^[a]not even one thing came into being that has come into being.

¹⁶ for ^[a](A)by Him all things were created, ^(B)both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether ^(C)thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—^(D)all things have been created through Him and for Him.

³ By faith we understand that the ^[a](A)world has been created ^(B)by the word of God so that what is seen ^(C)has not been made out of things that are visible.

⁵ For ^[a]when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that ^(A)by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was ^(B)formed out of water and by water,
