第五の災い 家畜の疫病
9 主はまた、モーセに命じました。「ファラオのところに戻り、こう言うのです。『ヘブル人の神、主が要求する。神の民がいけにえをささげに行くことを許しなさい。 2 もし拒否したら、 3 わたしは恐ろしい疫病をはやらせよう。馬やろば、らくだ、羊の群れ、牛の群れなど、家畜は全滅する。 4 ただし、死ぬのはエジプト人の家畜だけだ。イスラエル人の牛や羊は、一頭も被害を受けない。』」
5 主は、翌日すぐこのことを行うと宣告し、 6 実際そのとおりになりました。明くる朝、エジプトの家畜がばたばた倒れ始めたのです。しかし、イスラエル人の家畜は病気にさえなりません。 7 ファラオは使いをやり、イスラエル人の家畜が一頭も死なないというのはほんとうかどうか調べましたが、間違いありませんでした。それでも、やはり彼の気持ちは変わらず、イスラエル人を行かせようとはしませんでした。
第六の災い できもの
8 そこで、主はモーセとアロンに命じました。「かまどからたくさんのすすを取り出し、モーセはファラオの目の前でそれを空にまき散らしなさい。 9 それは細かなちりとなってエジプト中に散らばり、人と動物の区別なくどこにでもつき、できものとなる。」
10 二人はすすを取ってファラオのもとへ行き、彼の目の前で、モーセが空に向かってまきました。すると、それはエジプト中の人間と動物にはりつき、できものができてうみが出ました。 11 魔術師たちにもできものができ、とてもモーセの前に出られません。 12 しかし主は、ファラオが強情を張るままにさせたので、彼は神の命令に従おうとはしませんでした。主がモーセに予告したとおりです。
第七の災い 雹
13 それから、主はモーセに命じました。「朝早く起きてファラオの前に立ち、こう言いなさい。『ヘブル人の神、主は次のように言われます。「わたしの民を行かせ、わたしを礼拝させなさい。 14 今度は、あなたをはじめ、あなたの家臣そしてエジプト中の人間が、骨身にこたえるような災害を起こす。この世界にわたし以外に神がいないことを教えるためだ。 15 これまでも、あなたたちを滅ぼそうと思えば滅ぼすことができた。 16 そうしなかったのは、わたしの力を、あなたと全世界にはっきり示したかったからだ。 17 それなのにあなたは、わたしに対抗できるとうぬぼれている。それで、わたしの民を行かせないと強情を張っているのだ。 18 それもよいが、明日の今ごろ、わたしはこの国全体に雹を降らせる。エジプトの国が始まってからこのかた、だれも経験したことがないような雹だ。 19 急いで家畜を小屋へ入れなさい。野にいるものは、人間も動物もみな、雹に打たれて死ぬ。」』」
20 エジプト人の中には、この警告を聞いて恐れ、家畜や奴隷を家に入れた者もいました。 21 しかし、主のことばなど心にとめない者たちは、「雹ぐらい何だ」とたかをくくっていました。
22 主はモーセに命じました。「天を指さしなさい。すると、雹がエジプト全土に降る。人間、動物、木、ありとあらゆるものの上に降る。」
23 モーセが杖を天に向けて伸ばすと、たちまち雷が鳴り、いなずまが走り、雹が激しく降り始めました。 24 その激しさは、とてもことばでは表現できないくらいで、エジプト史上、これほどの嵐はありませんでした。 25 エジプトはまたたく間に荒廃し、野外にいたものは人間も動物もすべてが死に絶え、木々は引き裂かれ、作物もなぎ倒されました。 26 その日、エジプトの中で、雹が降らなかったのは、イスラエル人が住むゴシェンの地だけでした。
27 ファラオはモーセとアロンを呼びにやりました。「私が間違っていた。おまえたちの主の言われるとおりだ。私も私の民も悪いことをした。 28 この恐ろしい雷と雹を何とかしてくれ。早くやむよう、主に願ってくれ。すぐにでも、おまえたちを立ち去らせることにするから。」
29 「けっこうです。町を出たらすぐ、私は両手を主に差し伸べて祈りましょう。雷と雹は必ずやみます。主は地を支配しておられるのです。あなたはそれをごらんになります。 30 しかし、なお、あなたは主の命令には従わないでしょう。家臣がたも同じです。」 31 この時すでに、亜麻と大麦は壊滅状態でした。大麦は穂を出し、亜麻もつぼみをつけていたからです。 32 小麦と裸麦はまだ穂が出ていなかったので、全滅を免れました。
33 モーセはファラオの前から退き、町の外に出て両手を高く天に伸べました。すると、雷と雹はピタリとやみ、雨もすっかり上がりました。 34 それを見て、ファラオと家臣たちはまたかたくなになって、今度も約束を破りました。 35 神が予告したとおり、イスラエル人の出国を許さないことにしたのです。
第八の災い いなご
10 主はモーセに言いました。「再び王のところへ行って要求しなさい。しかし、承知しないだろう。わたしがそうさせるからだ。それは、彼らの間で奇跡を通して、わたしの力をさらに見せるためであり、 2 わたしが主であることをあなたがたが知るためである。わたしがエジプトでどんなことを行ったか、あなたの子どもや孫たちに語り伝えなさい。」
3 モーセとアロンはもう一度、ファラオに会見を申し入れました。「ヘブル人の神、主が言われます。『いつまであなたは、わたしの言うことに逆らうのだ。わたしの民がわたしを礼拝できるよう、行かせなさい。 4-5 もし行かせないなら、明日いなごの大群を送る。国中がいなごで覆われ、地面を見ることさえできなくなる。雹の害を免れた作物も、今度ばかりは助からない。 6 宮殿も役人たちの家も、エジプトの家という家は全部いなごで満ちる。エジプトの歴史上、だれも体験したことのない災害になるだろう。』」そう言いきると、モーセはファラオの前から出て行きました。
7 心配になった家臣たちは、ファラオに願い出ました。「王様、私たちを滅ぼすおつもりですか。それでなくとも、エジプトは雹にやられて、すっかり荒れ果ててしまいました。もうたくさんです。彼らが行きたいと言うなら、どうぞ行かせてください。主とかいう神でも何でも、好きなように礼拝させてやってください。」
8 モーセとアロンは、王のもとに呼び戻されました。「おまえたちの言い分はわかった。出かけて行って、おまえたちの神、主に仕えるがよかろう。だが、行きたがっているのは、実際のところだれなのか。」
9 モーセが答えました。「若い者も年寄りもみなです。息子、娘、羊や牛の群れも、すべて連れて行きます。一家をあげて、この聖なる巡礼に参加するのです。」
10 すると王は、憤慨して言いました。「何だと？ 神にかけて、子どもたちを連れて行くことは許さん。おまえたちの計略は見えすいている。 11 全員行くなど決して許さん。大人の男だけが出かければすむことだ。もともとそういう話ではなかったのか。」二人は王の前から追い払われました。
12 主はモーセに命じました。「あなたの手をエジプトの国に差し伸べなさい。いなごが出て来て国中を覆い、雹の害を免れた物を食い尽くそう。」
13 モーセが杖を上げると、神はまる一昼夜、東風を吹かせました。朝になると、東風がいなごの大群を運んで来ました。 14 いなごはエジプト全土の隅々まで埋め尽くしました。エジプト史上、これほどのいなごの大群は、後にも先にも一度も見ないものでした。 15 いなごが全地を覆ったので、太陽の光もさえぎられて薄暗くなりました。雹の害を免れた作物は全部いなごに食べられてしまいました。エジプト中の木や草が食い尽くされ、緑のものは何一つ残りませんでした。
16 ファラオはあわてて、急いで使いをやり、モーセとアロンを呼んで言いました。「おまえたちの神、主とおまえたちとに悪いことをした。すまなかった。 17 もう一度だけ私の罪を赦してほしい。主に祈ってくれ。このままでは死んでしまう。今度こそ約束を守るから。」
18 モーセは王のところから出て行き、神に願いました。 19 すると強い西風が吹き始め、いなごを紅海まで運び去ったので、エジプトには、いなごは一匹もいなくなりました。 20 しかし主は、またもファラオの心をかたくなにしたので、今度も彼はイスラエル人を行かせませんでした。
第九の災い 暗闇
21 主はモーセに命じました。「あなたの両手を天に向けて伸ばしなさい。暗闇がエジプトを覆い、光は一筋もささなくなる。」 22 モーセは言われたとおりにしました。すると、エジプトは三日間、漆黒の暗闇に覆われました。 23 あまりの暗さに身動きさえできません。ただイスラエル人の住んでいた所だけは、光がさしていました。
24 ファラオはまたまたモーセを呼びました。「早く出て行ってくれ。行って主を礼拝するがいい。ただし、羊と牛の群れは置いて行け。妻子は連れて行ってかまわない。」
25 「おことばを返すようですが、それは承知できません。あなたご自身も私たちの手にいけにえを与え、私たちの神、主にいけにえをささげなければならないのです。 26 一頭でも残して行くわけにはまいりません。神様には動物のいけにえをささげなければならず、向こうへ着くまでは、神様がどの動物をお選びになるかわかりません。ですから、すべて連れて行きます。」
27 これを聞いて、ファラオはまた心を固くしました。神がそうされたのです。「そんな勝手を言うなら行かせてやるものか」と彼は思いました。
28 「ええい、下がれっ！ おまえの顔など二度と見たくもない。」彼は怒りをあらわにして言いました。「よく覚えておけ。今度、私の前に姿を現したら生かしておかない。」
29 「けっこうです。私も二度とお目にかかるつもりはありません」とモーセは答えました。
最後の災いの予告
11 ついに主はモーセに命じました。「いよいよ、これが最後だ。ファラオとエジプト人たちを徹底的に打つのだ。そのあとでファラオはようやく、あなたがたの出発を認めるだろう。いや、むしろ早く出て行かせたくて追い立てるだろう。 2 その時は、遠慮はいらない。エジプト人の隣人に金や銀の高価な飾り物を要求するのだ。今からその心備えをしておくよう、イスラエル人全員に伝えなさい。」
3 これは、エジプト人がイスラエル人に好意を示すよう、主が計ったからです。モーセ自身、エジプトではファラオの家臣や国民に尊敬されていました。
4 モーセはファラオに宣言しました。「主はこう言われます。『真夜中ごろ、わたしはエジプトを通り過ぎる。 5 その時、王位を継承する王子から奴隷の長男に至るまで、エジプトの家々の長男はみな死ぬ。家畜の初子も同じだ。 6 嘆き声が全土に響き渡るだろう。いまだかつてなかったような、これからも二度とないような悲痛な叫びだ。 7 しかし、イスラエル人とその家畜には犬がほえることすらない。こうして、エジプト人とイスラエル人とははっきり区別される。』 8 あなたの家臣たちはその時、私のところに来てひれ伏し、『どうか今すぐ出て行ってください。イスラエル人は一人残らず連れ出してください』と言うでしょう。そのあと私は出て行きます。」
モーセは怒りに燃え、言うべきことを言うと、宮殿から出て行きました。
9 モーセは、前もって主から言われていました。「ファラオはあなたの言うことを聞き入れないだろう。そのため、わたしは大きな奇跡を行い、わたしの力を十分示すようになる。」 10 そういうわけで、モーセとアロンが数々の奇跡をファラオの目の前で行ったにもかかわらず、神はファラオの心をかたくななままにしておかれ、イスラエル人の出国をなかなか許そうとはしなかったのです。

The Plague on Livestock
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, so that they may worship(A) me.” 2 If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back, 3 the hand(B) of the Lord will bring a terrible plague(C) on your livestock in the field—on your horses, donkeys and camels and on your cattle, sheep and goats. 4 But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt,(D) so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
5 The Lord set a time and said, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this in the land.” 6 And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock(E) of the Egyptians died,(F) but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died. 7 Pharaoh investigated and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart(G) was unyielding and he would not let the people go.(H)
The Plague of Boils
8 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh. 9 It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils(I) will break out on people and animals throughout the land.”
10 So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on people and animals. 11 The magicians(J) could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians. 12 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart(K) and he would not listen(L) to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said to Moses.
The Plague of Hail
13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship(M) me, 14 or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know(N) that there is no one like(O) me in all the earth. 15 For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people(P) with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16 But I have raised you up[a] for this very purpose,(Q) that I might show you my power(R) and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. 17 You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go. 18 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm(S) that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.(T) 19 Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every person and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.’”
20 Those officials of Pharaoh who feared(U) the word of the Lord hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside. 21 But those who ignored(V) the word of the Lord left their slaves and livestock in the field.
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt—on people and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt.” 23 When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the Lord sent thunder(W) and hail,(X) and lightning flashed down to the ground. So the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt; 24 hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.(Y) 25 Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields—both people and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.(Z) 26 The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen,(AA) where the Israelites were.(AB)
27 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,”(AC) he said to them. “The Lord is in the right,(AD) and I and my people are in the wrong. 28 Pray(AE) to the Lord, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go;(AF) you don’t have to stay any longer.”
29 Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands(AG) in prayer to the Lord. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth(AH) is the Lord’s. 30 But I know that you and your officials still do not fear(AI) the Lord God.”
31 (The flax and barley(AJ) were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom. 32 The wheat and spelt,(AK) however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.)
33 Then Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the Lord; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain no longer poured down on the land. 34 When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts. 35 So Pharaoh’s heart(AL) was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the Lord had said through Moses.
The Plague of Locusts
10 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart(AM) and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs(AN) of mine among them 2 that you may tell your children(AO) and grandchildren how I dealt harshly(AP) with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”(AQ)
3 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble(AR) yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me. 4 If you refuse(AS) to let them go, I will bring locusts(AT) into your country tomorrow. 5 They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left(AU) after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields.(AV) 6 They will fill your houses(AW) and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians—something neither your parents nor your ancestors have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.’”(AX) Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh.
7 Pharaoh’s officials said to him, “How long will this man be a snare(AY) to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the Lord their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?”(AZ)
8 Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship(BA) the Lord your God,” he said. “But tell me who will be going.”
9 Moses answered, “We will go with our young and our old, with our sons and our daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival(BB) to the Lord.”
10 Pharaoh said, “The Lord be with you—if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil.[b] 11 No! Have only the men go and worship the Lord, since that’s what you have been asking for.” Then Moses and Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh’s presence.
12 And the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand(BC) over Egypt so that locusts swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail.”
13 So Moses stretched out his staff(BD) over Egypt, and the Lord made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts;(BE) 14 they invaded all Egypt and settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts,(BF) nor will there ever be again. 15 They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured(BG) all that was left after the hail—everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
16 Pharaoh quickly summoned(BH) Moses and Aaron and said, “I have sinned(BI) against the Lord your God and against you. 17 Now forgive(BJ) my sin once more and pray(BK) to the Lord your God to take this deadly plague away from me.”
18 Moses then left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord.(BL) 19 And the Lord changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which caught up the locusts and carried them into the Red Sea.[c] Not a locust was left anywhere in Egypt. 20 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart,(BM) and he would not let the Israelites go.
The Plague of Darkness
21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness(BN) spreads over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness(BO) covered all Egypt for three days. 23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.(BP)
24 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go,(BQ) worship the Lord. Even your women and children(BR) may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.”(BS)
25 But Moses said, “You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings(BT) to present to the Lord our God. 26 Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the Lord our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the Lord.”
27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart,(BU) and he was not willing to let them go. 28 Pharaoh said to Moses, “Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die.”
29 “Just as you say,” Moses replied. “I will never appear(BV) before you again.”
The Plague on the Firstborn
11 Now the Lord had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go(BW) from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely.(BX) 2 Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold.”(BY) 3 (The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed(BZ) toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded(CA) in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people.)
4 So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight(CB) I will go throughout Egypt.(CC) 5 Every firstborn(CD) son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill,(CE) and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 There will be loud wailing(CF) throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. 7 But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction(CG) between Egypt and Israel. 8 All these officials of yours will come to me, bowing down before me and saying, ‘Go,(CH) you and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will leave.”(CI) Then Moses, hot with anger, left Pharaoh.
9 The Lord had said to Moses, “Pharaoh will refuse to listen(CJ) to you—so that my wonders(CK) may be multiplied in Egypt.” 10 Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart,(CL) and he would not let the Israelites go out of his country.

24 日曜日の明け方早く、待ちかねた女たちは香油を持って墓に急ぎました。 2 着いてみると、どうしたことでしょう。墓の入口をふさいであった大きな石が、わきへ転がしてありました。 3 中へ入って見ると、主イエスの体は影も形もありません。 4 「いったい、どうなってるのかしら。」女たちは途方にくれました。すると突然、まばゆいばかりに輝く衣をまとった人が二人、目の前に現れました。 5 女たちはもう恐ろしくて、地に伏したまま顔も上げられず、わなわな震えていました。その人たちは言いました。「なぜ生きておられる方を、墓の中で捜しているのです。 6-7 あの方はここにはおられません。復活なさったのです。まだガリラヤにおられたころ、何と言われましたか。メシヤは悪者たちの手に売り渡され、十字架につけられ、それから三日目に復活する、と言われたではありませんか。」 8 そう言われて女たちは、はっと思いあたりました。 9 そして、すぐさまエルサレムに取って返し、十一人の弟子やほかの人たちに一部始終を話しました。 10 そのとき墓へ行った女たちは、マグダラのマリヤとヨハンナ、ヤコブの母マリヤ、そのほか数人でした。 11 ところが、男たちには、この話がまるで物語のようで、とても現実のこととは思えません。だれも、まともに信じようとしませんでした。 12 しかしペテロは、それでも一応は確認しなければと墓へ行き、身をかがめて中をのぞき込みました。すると、どうでしょう。亜麻布のほかに何も見あたりません。それで、この出来事に驚いて家に戻りました。
13 この同じ日曜日のことです。二人の弟子が、エルサレムから十一キロほど離れたエマオという村へ急いでいました。 14 二人が道々話し合っていたのは、イエスの死のことでした。 15 そこへ突然、当のイエスが近づき、彼らと連れ立って歩き始めました。 16 しかし二人には、イエスだとはわかりません。神がそうなさったのです。 17 イエスが尋ねました。「何やら熱心にお話しのようですね。いったい何がそんなに問題なのですか。」すると二人は、急に顔をくもらせ、思わず足を止めました。 18 クレオパというほうの弟子があきれたように、「エルサレムにいながら、先週起こった、あの恐ろしい出来事を知らないとは。そんな人は、あなたぐらいのものでしょう」と言いました。 19 「どんなことでしょうか？」「ナザレ出身のイエス様のことをご存じないのですか。この方は、信じられないような奇跡を幾つもなさった預言者で、すばらしい教師でもあったのです。神からも人からも重んじられていたのですが、 20 祭司長やほかの宗教的指導者たちは、理不尽にもこの方をつかまえて、ローマ政府に引き渡し、十字架につけてしまったのです。 21-23 私たちは、この方こそ栄光に輝くメシヤで、イスラエルを救うために来られたに違いないと考えていたのですが。ところが、話はそれで終わらないのです。弟子仲間の女たちが、なんとも奇妙なことを言いだしたのです。処刑があった日から、今日で三日目になりますが、今朝がた早く、その女たちが墓へ行ったところ、イエス様のお体は影も形もなかったというではありませんか。しかもその場に天使が現れて、イエス様は生きておられると語ったとか……。 24 その話を聞いて、仲間のある者たちが墓へ駆けつけて確認したのですが、彼らも口をそろえて、墓は空っぽだったと証言しているのです。」 25 「ああ、どうしてそんなに、心が鈍いのですか。預言者たちが聖書に書いていることを信じられないのですか。 26 キリストは栄光の時を迎える前に、必ずこのような苦しみを受けるはずだと、預言者たちははっきり語ったではありませんか。」 27 それからイエスは、創世記から始めて、聖書（旧約）全体にわたって次々と預言者のことばを引用しては、救い主についての教えを説き明かされました。
28 そうこうするうち、エマオに近づきましたが、イエスはまだ旅を続ける様子です。 29 二人は、じきに暗くなるから、今晩はここでいっしょに泊まってくださいと熱心に頼みました。それでイエスもいっしょに家に入りました。 30 食卓に着くと、イエスはパンを取り、神に祝福を祈り求め、ちぎって二人に渡しました。 31 その瞬間、二人の目が開かれ、その人がイエスだとわかりました。と同時に、イエスの姿はかき消すように見えなくなりました。 32 二人はあっけにとられながらも、「そう言えば、あの方が歩きながら語りかけてくださった時も、聖書のことばを説明してくださった時も、不思議なほど私たちの心が燃えていたではないか」と語り合いました。 33-34 そして、すぐエルサレムへ取って返しました。戻ってみると、十一人の弟子たちやほかの弟子たちが迎え、「主は、ほんとうに復活された。ペテロがお会いしたのだからまちがいない」と話していました。 35 そこで二人も、エマオへ行く途中イエスと出会ったことや、パンをちぎられた時にはっきりイエスだとわかったことなどを話しました。
36 これらの話をしている時、突然イエスが現れ、みんなの真ん中に立たれたのです。 37 彼らは幽霊を見ているのだと勘違いし、ぶるぶる震えました。 38 「なぜそんなに驚くのですか。どうしてそんなに疑うのですか。 39 さあ、この手を、この足を、よくごらんなさい。わたしにまちがいないでしょう。さあ、さわってみなさい。これでも幽霊でしょうか。幽霊だったら、体などないはずです。」 40 イエスはそう言いながら、手を差し出して釘の跡を見せ、また、足の傷もお示しになりました。 41 弟子たちは、うれしいけれども、まだ半信半疑です。心を決めかねて、ぼう然としていました。それでイエスは、「何か食べ物がありますか」とお尋ねになりました。 42 焼き魚を一切れ差し上げると、 43 イエスはみんなの見ている前で召し上がりました。
44 イエスは言われました。「以前、いっしょにいた時、モーセや預言者の書いたこと、それに聖書の詩篇にあることは、必ずそのとおりになると話して聞かせたはずです。忘れてしまったのですか。」 45 イエスが弟子たちの心の目を開いてくださったので、彼らはやっと理解しました。 46 イエスは、さらに続けられました。「キリストは苦しめられ、殺され、そして三日目に復活することが、ずっと昔から記されていたのです。 47 悔い改めてわたしのもとに立ち返る人は、だれでも罪が赦されます。この救いの知らせは、エルサレムから始まり、世界中に伝えられるのです。 48 あなたがたはこのことの証人です。初めから何もかも見てきたのですから。 49 わたしは、父が約束してくださった聖霊をあなたがたに送ります。しかし、聖霊が来て、天からの力で満たしてくださるまでは、都にとどまっていなさい。」
50 それからイエスは、彼らをベタニヤまで連れて行き、手を上げて祝福してから、 51 彼らから離れて行かれました。 52 彼らは喜びに胸を躍らせて、エルサレムに戻り、 53 いつも宮にいて神を賛美していました。

Jesus Has Risen(A)
24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared(B) and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.(C) 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning(D) stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:(E) 7 ‘The Son of Man(F) must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”(G) 8 Then they remembered his words.(H)
9 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them(I) who told this to the apostles.(J) 11 But they did not believe(K) the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves,(L) and he went away,(M) wondering to himself what had happened.
On the Road to Emmaus
13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles[a] from Jerusalem.(N) 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;(O) 16 but they were kept from recognizing him.(P)
17 He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”
They stood still, their faces downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas,(Q) asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”
19 “What things?” he asked.
“About Jesus of Nazareth,”(R) they replied. “He was a prophet,(S) powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20 The chief priests and our rulers(T) handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21 but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel.(U) And what is more, it is the third day(V) since all this took place. 22 In addition, some of our women amazed us.(W) They went to the tomb early this morning 23 but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24 Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”(X)
25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”(Y) 27 And beginning with Moses(Z) and all the Prophets,(AA) he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.(AB)
28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it(AC) and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him,(AD) and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us(AE) while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures(AF) to us?”
33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord(AG) has risen and has appeared to Simon.”(AH) 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.(AI)
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”(AJ)
37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.(AK) 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see;(AL) a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.(AM)
44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you:(AN) Everything must be fulfilled(AO) that is written about me in the Law of Moses,(AP) the Prophets(AQ) and the Psalms.”(AR)
45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer(AS) and rise from the dead on the third day,(AT) 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name(AU) to all nations,(AV) beginning at Jerusalem.(AW) 48 You are witnesses(AX) of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised;(AY) but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
The Ascension of Jesus
50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany,(AZ) he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.(BA) 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple,(BB) praising God.
