Религиозные вожди замышляют убить Исо Масеха(A)
14 Через два дня наступал праздник Освобождения и праздник Пресных хлебов[a]. Главные священнослужители и учители Таврота искали удобного случая, чтобы хитростью схватить Исо и убить.
2 – Только не во время праздника, – говорили они, – иначе народ может взбунтоваться.
Помазание Исо Масеха дорогим ароматическим маслом(B)
3 Исо в это время был в Вифании, в доме Шимона прокажённого[b]. Он возлежал за столом, когда в дом вошла женщина с алебастровым кувшином очень дорогого ароматического масла, приготовленного из чистого нарда[c]. Отбив запечатанное горлышко, она вылила масло на голову Исо. 4 Некоторые из присутствовавших возмутились.
– Зачем так тратить это дорогое ароматическое масло? 5 Ведь его можно было продать больше чем за триста серебряных монет[d], а деньги раздать нищим, – упрекали они её.
6 Но Исо сказал:
– Оставьте её, что вы её упрекаете? Она сделала для Меня доброе дело. 7 Потому что нищие всегда с вами, и вы можете делать им добро, когда захотите, а Я не всегда буду с вами. 8 Она сделала, что могла: заранее помазала Моё тело для погребения. 9 Говорю вам истину: во всём мире, везде, где будет возвещена Радостная Весть, будут вспоминать об этой женщине и о том, что она сделала.
Иуда Искариот решает предать Исо Масеха(C)
10 Иуда Искариот, один из двенадцати учеников, пошёл к главным священнослужителям, чтобы предать им Исо. 11 Услышав, для чего он пришёл, они обрадовались и обещали заплатить ему. И Иуда стал искать удобного случая, чтобы предать Исо.
Приготовление учеников к празднику Освобождения(D)
12 В первый день праздника Пресных хлебов[e], когда иудеи закалывали ягнят в память об их освобождении, ученики спросили Исо:
– Куда нам пойти, чтобы приготовить Тебе праздничный ужин?
13 И Он послал двух учеников, сказав им:
– Идите в город, там вы встретите человека, несущего кувшин воды, идите за ним. 14 Скажите хозяину дома, куда этот человек войдёт: «Учитель спрашивает: где Моя комната, в которой Я буду есть праздничный ужин с Моими учениками?» 15 Он покажет вам большую комнату наверху, приготовленную и убранную; там и приготовьте нам ужин.
16 Ученики пошли, вошли в город; и всё произошло так, как им сказал Исо, и они приготовили праздничный ужин.
Последний ужин с учениками(E)
17 Вечером Исо пришёл туда с двенадцатью учениками. 18 Когда они возлежали и ели, Исо сказал:
– Говорю вам истину: один из вас, кто сейчас ест со Мной, предаст Меня.
19 Учеников это сильно опечалило, и один за другим они стали спрашивать Его:
– Но ведь это не я?
20 – Один из двенадцати, – ответил Исо, – тот, кто вместе со Мной обмакивает хлеб в блюдо. 21 Да, Ниспосланный как Человек уходит так, как о Нём сказано в Писании, но горе тому человеку, который предаёт Его! Лучше бы ему вообще не родиться.
22 Когда они ели, Исо взял хлеб и, благословив, разломил его, дал им и сказал:
– Возьмите, это Моё тело.
23 Затем Он взял чашу, поблагодарил за неё Всевышнего и подал им, и они все пили из неё.
24 – Это Моя кровь священного соглашения,[f] проливаемая за многих, – сказал Исо. – 25 Говорю вам истину: Я уже не буду пить от плода виноградного до того дня, когда Я буду пить новое[g] вино в Царстве Всевышнего.
Предсказание об отречении Петруса(F)
26 Они спели песни из Забура[h] и пошли на Оливковую гору.
27 – Вы все отступитесь от Меня, – сказал им Исо, – ведь написано:
«Я поражу пастуха,
и разбегутся овцы»[i].
28 Но когда Я воскресну, то пойду в Галилею и буду ждать вас там.
29 Петрус сказал Ему:
– Даже если все Тебя оставят, я никогда этого не сделаю.
30 – Говорю тебе истину, – сказал ему Исо, – в эту ночь, прежде чем петух пропоёт два раза, ты трижды отречёшься от Меня.
31 Но Петрус уверял:
– Даже если мне придётся умереть с Тобой, я никогда не откажусь от Тебя.
И все ученики говорили то же.
Молитва в Гефсиманском саду(G)
32 Они пришли на место, называемое Гефсимания, и Исо сказал Своим ученикам:
– Посидите здесь, пока Я буду молиться.
33 С Собой Он взял Петруса, Якуба и Иохана. Его охватили ужас и тревога.
34 Тогда Он сказал им:
– Душа моя объята смертельной печалью. Побудьте здесь и бодрствуйте.
35 Отойдя немного, Он пал на землю и молился, чтобы, если возможно, этот час миновал Его.
36 – Дорогой Отец! – сказал Он. – Ты всё можешь! Пронеси эту чашу страданий мимо Меня, но пусть всё будет не как Я хочу, а как Ты хочешь.
37 Он возвратился к Своим ученикам и нашёл их спящими.
– Шимон, – спросил Он Петруса, – ты спишь? Неужели ты не мог пободрствовать хоть один час? 38 Бодрствуйте и молитесь, чтобы вам не поддаться искушению. Дух бодр, но тело слабо.
39 Он снова ушёл и молился теми же словами. 40 Когда Он вернулся, ученики опять спали, потому что их веки отяжелели; они не знали, что отвечать Исо. 41 Возвратившись в третий раз, Исо сказал им:
– Вы всё спите и отдыхаете? Довольно! Время настало, и Ниспосланный как Человек предаётся в руки грешников. 42 Вставайте, идём. Вот уже и Мой предатель приблизился.
Исо Масех предан и арестован(H)
43 Он ещё говорил, как появился Иуда, один из двенадцати учеников, и с ним толпа, вооружённая мечами и кольями. Их послали главные священнослужители, учители Таврота и старейшины. 44 Предатель так условился с ними:
– Хватайте Того, Кого я поцелую, и уводите под стражей.
45 Придя на место, Иуда сразу же подошёл к Исо и сказал:
– Учитель! – и поцеловал Его.
46 Пришедшие с Иудой, схватив Исо, взяли Его под стражу. 47 Один из стоявших рядом вытащил меч, ударил им раба главного священнослужителя и отсёк ему ухо.
48 – Что Я, разбойник, что вы пришли с мечами и кольями, чтобы арестовать Меня? – спросил их Исо. – 49 Каждый день Я был с вами в храме и учил, и вы не арестовывали Меня. Но пусть исполнится Писание.
50 Все ученики оставили Его и убежали. 51 За Исо пошёл лишь один молодой человек, завернувшись в покрывало на голое тело. Когда его схватили, 52 он вырвался и убежал голый, оставив покрывало в руках у стражников.
На допросе у верховного священнослужителя Каиафы(I)
53 Они привели Исо к верховному священнослужителю, где собрались все главные священнослужители, старейшины и учители Таврота. 54 Петрус следовал за Исо на некотором расстоянии и, пройдя во двор верховного священнослужителя, сел со стражниками греться у костра. 55 Главные священнослужители и весь Высший Совет[j] искали показания против Исо, чтобы приговорить Его к смерти, но они ничего не могли найти. 56 Выступало много лжесвидетелей, но их показания не совпадали. 57 Нашлось несколько человек, которые встали и ложно заявили:
58 – Мы слышали, как Он говорил: «Я разрушу этот храм, сотворённый руками людей, и в три дня построю другой, нерукотворный».
59 Но и в этом их свидетельства не совпали. 60 Потом верховный священнослужитель, встав посредине, спросил Исо:
– Тебе нечего ответить на эти свидетельства против Тебя?
61 Но Исо молчал, не отвечая ни слова. Верховный священнослужитель опять спросил Его:
– Ты ли обещанный Масех – Сын Благословенного?
62 – Я, – ответил Исо, – и вы увидите Ниспосланного как Человек сидящим по правую руку от могучего Бога и идущим на облаках небесных.[k]
63 Разорвав в негодовании на себе одежду, верховный священнослужитель сказал:
– Какие нам ещё нужны свидетели?! 64 Вы сами слышали Его кощунство! Каково ваше решение?
Все признали, что Он виновен и заслуживает смерти. 65 Тогда некоторые начали плевать на Него; Исо закрывали лицо, били Его кулаками и говорили:
– Пророчествуй!
Потом Его стали избивать стражники.
Отречение Петруса(J)
66 Петрус же в это время был во дворе. Туда пришла одна из служанок верховного священнослужителя 67 и, увидев Петруса, гревшегося у костра, всмотрелась в него и сказала:
– Ты тоже был с Исо из Назарета.
68 Но Петрус отрицал это.
– Я вообще не знаю, о чём ты говоришь, – сказал он и вышел во внешний двор. И тут пропел петух. 69 Служанка увидела Петруса и там и опять стала говорить стоявшим рядом:
– Это один из них.
70 Петрус снова всё отрицал. Но спустя немного времени стоявшие там люди опять сказали ему:
– Точно, ты один из них, ты ведь галилеянин.
71 Но Петрус начал клясться, призывая на себя проклятия:
– Я не знаю Человека, о Котором вы говорите.
72 И тотчас во второй раз пропел петух, и тогда Петрус вспомнил слова Исо: «Прежде чем два раза пропоёт петух, ты трижды отречёшься от Меня». И он горько заплакал.

- Мк 14:1 Праздник Освобождения – этот праздник отмечался в память об избавлении иудейского народа под руководством пророка Мусо из Египетского рабства (см. Исх. 12:1-14; Чис. 1:14; Втор. 16:1-8). Праздник Пресных хлебов – в этот праздник, шедший сразу же за праздником Освобождения и длившийся семь дней, предписывалось есть только пресный хлеб (см. Исх. 12:15-20; 13:3-10; Лев. 23:6-8; Чис. 28:17-25). Со временем оба эти праздника практически слились в один, и поэтому их названия стали взаимозаменяемы.
- Мк 14:3 Скорее всего, Шимон когда-то страдал от кожного заболевания и исцелился (ср. Лев. 13:45-46; Чис. 5:2), но прозвище «прокажённый» за ним осталось.
- Мк 14:3 Нард – ароматическая жидкость, получаемая из определённого растения, которое произрастает только в Индии, на Гималаях, и поэтому доставка делала нард дорогостоящим товаром. Нард смешивали с другими веществами и продавали в алебастровых кувшинах в виде масла, мази или нардовой воды.

14 ην δε το πασχα και τα αζυμα μετα δυο ημερας και εζητουν οι αρχιερεις και οι γραμματεις πως αυτον εν δολω κρατησαντες αποκτεινωσιν
2 ελεγον δε μη εν τη εορτη μηποτε θορυβος εσται του λαου
3 και οντος αυτου εν βηθανια εν τη οικια σιμωνος του λεπρου κατακειμενου αυτου ηλθεν γυνη εχουσα αλαβαστρον μυρου ναρδου πιστικης πολυτελους και συντριψασα το αλαβαστρον κατεχεεν αυτου κατα της κεφαλης
4 ησαν δε τινες αγανακτουντες προς εαυτους και λεγοντες εις τι η απωλεια αυτη του μυρου γεγονεν

31 ο δε εκ περισσου ελεγεν μαλλον εαν με δεη συναποθανειν σοι ου μη σε απαρνησομαι ωσαυτως δε και παντες ελεγον
32 και ερχονται εις χωριον ου το ονομα γεθσημανη και λεγει τοις μαθηταις αυτου καθισατε ωδε εως προσευξωμαι
33 και παραλαμβανει τον πετρον και τον ιακωβον και ιωαννην μεθ εαυτου και ηρξατο εκθαμβεισθαι και αδημονειν
34 και λεγει αυτοις περιλυπος εστιν η ψυχη μου εως θανατου μεινατε ωδε και γρηγορειτε
35 και προελθων μικρον επεσεν επι της γης και προσηυχετο ινα ει δυνατον εστιν παρελθη απ αυτου η ωρα
36 και ελεγεν αββα ο πατηρ παντα δυνατα σοι παρενεγκε το ποτηριον απ εμου τουτο αλλ ου τι εγω θελω αλλα τι συ
37 και ερχεται και ευρισκει αυτους καθευδοντας και λεγει τω πετρω σιμων καθευδεις ουκ ισχυσας μιαν ωραν γρηγορησαι
38 γρηγορειτε και προσευχεσθε ινα μη εισελθητε εις πειρασμον το μεν πνευμα προθυμον η δε σαρξ ασθενης
39 και παλιν απελθων προσηυξατο τον αυτον λογον ειπων
40 και υποστρεψας ευρεν αυτους παλιν καθευδοντας ησαν γαρ οι οφθαλμοι αυτων βεβαρημενοι και ουκ ηδεισαν τι αυτω αποκριθωσιν
41 και ερχεται το τριτον και λεγει αυτοις καθευδετε το λοιπον και αναπαυεσθε απεχει ηλθεν η ωρα ιδου παραδιδοται ο υιος του ανθρωπου εις τας χειρας των αμαρτωλων
42 εγειρεσθε αγωμεν ιδου ο παραδιδους με ηγγικεν
43 και ευθεως ετι αυτου λαλουντος παραγινεται ιουδας εις ων των δωδεκα και μετ αυτου οχλος πολυς μετα μαχαιρων και ξυλων παρα των αρχιερεων και των γραμματεων και των πρεσβυτερων
44 δεδωκει δε ο παραδιδους αυτον συσσημον αυτοις λεγων ον αν φιλησω αυτος εστιν κρατησατε αυτον και απαγαγετε ασφαλως
45 και ελθων ευθεως προσελθων αυτω λεγει ραββι ραββι και κατεφιλησεν αυτον
46 οι δε επεβαλον επ αυτον τας χειρας αυτων και εκρατησαν αυτον
47 εις δε τις των παρεστηκοτων σπασαμενος την μαχαιραν επαισεν τον δουλον του αρχιερεως και αφειλεν αυτου το ωτιον
48 και αποκριθεις ο ιησους ειπεν αυτοις ως επι ληστην εξηλθετε μετα μαχαιρων και ξυλων συλλαβειν με
49 καθ ημεραν ημην προς υμας εν τω ιερω διδασκων και ουκ εκρατησατε με αλλ ινα πληρωθωσιν αι γραφαι
50 και αφεντες αυτον παντες εφυγον
51 και εις τις νεανισκος ηκολουθει αυτω περιβεβλημενος σινδονα επι γυμνου και κρατουσιν αυτον οι νεανισκοι
52 ο δε καταλιπων την σινδονα γυμνος εφυγεν απ αυτων
53 και απηγαγον τον ιησουν προς τον αρχιερεα και συνερχονται αυτω παντες οι αρχιερεις και οι πρεσβυτεροι και οι γραμματεις
54 και ο πετρος απο μακροθεν ηκολουθησεν αυτω εως εσω εις την αυλην του αρχιερεως και ην συγκαθημενος μετα των υπηρετων και θερμαινομενος προς το φως
55 οι δε αρχιερεις και ολον το συνεδριον εζητουν κατα του ιησου μαρτυριαν εις το θανατωσαι αυτον και ουχ ευρισκον
56 πολλοι γαρ εψευδομαρτυρουν κατ αυτου και ισαι αι μαρτυριαι ουκ ησαν
57 και τινες ανασταντες εψευδομαρτυρουν κατ αυτου λεγοντες
58 οτι ημεις ηκουσαμεν αυτου λεγοντος οτι εγω καταλυσω τον ναον τουτον τον χειροποιητον και δια τριων ημερων αλλον αχειροποιητον οικοδομησω
59 και ουδε ουτως ιση ην η μαρτυρια αυτων
60 και αναστας ο αρχιερευς εις το μεσον επηρωτησεν τον ιησουν λεγων ουκ αποκρινη ουδεν τι ουτοι σου καταμαρτυρουσιν
61 ο δε εσιωπα και ουδεν απεκρινατο παλιν ο αρχιερευς επηρωτα αυτον και λεγει αυτω συ ει ο χριστος ο υιος του ευλογητου
62 ο δε ιησους ειπεν εγω ειμι και οψεσθε τον υιον του ανθρωπου καθημενον εκ δεξιων της δυναμεως και ερχομενον μετα των νεφελων του ουρανου
63 ο δε αρχιερευς διαρρηξας τους χιτωνας αυτου λεγει τι ετι χρειαν εχομεν μαρτυρων
64 ηκουσατε της βλασφημιας τι υμιν φαινεται οι δε παντες κατεκριναν αυτον ειναι ενοχον θανατου
65 και ηρξαντο τινες εμπτυειν αυτω και περικαλυπτειν το προσωπον αυτου και κολαφιζειν αυτον και λεγειν αυτω προφητευσον και οι υπηρεται ραπισμασιν αυτον εβαλλον
66 και οντος του πετρου εν τη αυλη κατω ερχεται μια των παιδισκων του αρχιερεως
67 και ιδουσα τον πετρον θερμαινομενον εμβλεψασα αυτω λεγει και συ μετα του ναζαρηνου ιησου ησθα
68 ο δε ηρνησατο λεγων ουκ οιδα ουδε επισταμαι τι συ λεγεις και εξηλθεν εξω εις το προαυλιον και αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν
69 και η παιδισκη ιδουσα αυτον παλιν ηρξατο λεγειν τοις παρεστηκοσιν οτι ουτος εξ αυτων εστιν
70 ο δε παλιν ηρνειτο και μετα μικρον παλιν οι παρεστωτες ελεγον τω πετρω αληθως εξ αυτων ει και γαρ γαλιλαιος ει και η λαλια σου ομοιαζει
71 ο δε ηρξατο αναθεματιζειν και ομνυειν οτι ουκ οιδα τον ανθρωπον τουτον ον λεγετε
72 και εκ δευτερου αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν και ανεμνησθη ο πετρος του ρηματος ου ειπεν αυτω ο ιησους οτι πριν αλεκτορα φωνησαι δις απαρνηση με τρις και επιβαλων εκλαιεν

14 After (B)two days it was the Passover and (C)the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by [a]trickery and put Him to death. 2 But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people.”
The Anointing at Bethany(D)
3 (E)And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly [b]oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. 4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred (F)denarii and given to the poor.” And they (G)criticized[c] her sharply.
6 But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. 7 (H)For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; (I)but Me you do not have always. 8 She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. 9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is (J)preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus(K)
10 (L)Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them. 11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought how he might conveniently betray Him.
Jesus Celebrates the Passover with His Disciples(M)
12 (N)Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they [d]killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?”
13 And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him. 14 Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’ 15 Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us.”
16 So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.
17 (O)In the evening He came with the twelve. 18 Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, (P)one of you who eats with Me will betray Me.”
19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, “Is it I?” [e]And another said, “Is it I?”
20 He answered and said to them, “It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish. 21 (Q)The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born.”
Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper(R)
22 (S)And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, [f]eat; this is My (T)body.”
23 Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 And He said to them, “This is My blood of the [g]new covenant, which is shed for many. 25 Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
26 (U)And when they had sung [h]a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(V)
27 (W)Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble [i]because of Me this night, for it is written:
(X)‘I will strike the Shepherd,
And the sheep will be scattered.’
28 “But (Y)after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.”
29 (Z)Peter said to Him, “Even if all are made to [j]stumble, yet I will not be.”
30 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”
31 But he spoke more vehemently, “If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!”
And they all said likewise.
The Prayer in the Garden(AA)
32 (AB)Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 And He (AC)took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. 34 Then He said to them, (AD)“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”
35 He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36 And He said, (AE)“Abba, Father, (AF)all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; (AG)nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
37 Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? 38 (AH)Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. (AI)The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
39 Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words. 40 And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.
41 Then He came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! (AJ)The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 (AK)Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”
Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane(AL)
43 (AM)And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 Now His betrayer had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I (AN)kiss, He is the One; seize Him and lead Him away safely.”
45 As soon as he had come, immediately he went up to Him and said to Him, “Rabbi, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
46 Then they laid their hands on Him and took Him. 47 And one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48 (AO)Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? 49 I was daily with you in the temple (AP)teaching, and you did not seize Me. But (AQ)the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”
50 (AR)Then they all forsook Him and fled.
A Young Man Flees Naked
51 Now a certain young man followed Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body. And the young men laid hold of him, 52 and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.
Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin(AS)
53 (AT)And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him were (AU)assembled all the (AV)chief priests, the elders, and the scribes. 54 But (AW)Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire.
55 (AX)Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. 56 For many bore (AY)false witness against Him, but their testimonies [k]did not agree.
57 Then some rose up and bore false witness against Him, saying, 58 “We heard Him say, (AZ)‘I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.’ ” 59 But not even then did their testimony agree.
60 (BA)And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 61 But (BB)He kept silent and answered nothing.
(BC)Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”
62 Jesus said, “I am. (BD)And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
63 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses? 64 You have heard the (BE)blasphemy! What do you think?”
And they all condemned Him to be deserving of (BF)death.
65 Then some began to (BG)spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers [l]struck Him with the palms of their hands.
Peter Denies Jesus, and Weeps(BH)
66 (BI)Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with (BJ)Jesus of Nazareth.”
68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.
69 (BK)And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, “This is one of them.” 70 But he denied it again.
(BL)And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, “Surely you are one of them; (BM)for you are a Galilean, [m]and your [n]speech shows it.”
71 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this Man of whom you speak!”
72 (BN)A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.

Jesus Anointed at Bethany(A)(B)(C)
14 Now the Passover(D) and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.(E) 2 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.”
3 While he was in Bethany,(F) reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.(G)
4 Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? 5 It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages[a] and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly.
6 “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 The poor you will always have with you,[b] and you can help them any time you want.(H) But you will not always have me. 8 She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.(I) 9 Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world,(J) what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve,(K) went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.(L) 11 They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
The Last Supper(M)(N)
12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb,(O) Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs,(P) furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”
19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”
20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me.(Q) 21 The Son of Man(R) will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(S) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.(T)
24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant,(U) which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”(V)

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(X)
27 “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written:
28 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”(Z)
29 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”
30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice[e] you yourself will disown me three times.”(AA)
31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you,(AB) I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.
Gethsemane(AC)
32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John(AD) along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,”(AE) he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”
35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour(AF) might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[f] Father,”(AG) he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup(AH) from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”(AI)

39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour(AL) has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Jesus Arrested(AM)
43 Just as he was speaking, Judas,(AN) one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.
44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!”(AO) and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts,(AP) and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”(AQ) 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.(AR)
51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.
Jesus Before the Sanhedrin(AS)(AT)
53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest.(AU) There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.(AV)
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin(AW) were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
57 Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another,(AX) not made with hands.’” 59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree.
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.(AY)
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”(AZ)
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”(BA)
63 The high priest tore his clothes.(BB) “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”
They all condemned him as worthy of death.(BC) 65 Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.(BD)
Peter Disowns Jesus(BE)
66 While Peter was below in the courtyard,(BF) one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself,(BG) she looked closely at him.
“You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,”(BH) she said.
68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,”(BI) he said, and went out into the entryway.[g]
69 When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” 70 Again he denied it.(BJ)
After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”(BK)
71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”(BL)
72 Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.[h] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice[i] you will disown me three times.”(BM) And he broke down and wept.
