غَضَبُ اللهِ عَلَى نِينَوَى

اللهُ إلَهٌ غَيُورٌ يَنْتَقِمُ.
اللهُ يَنْتَقِمُ وَيَسْخَطُ.
اللهُ يَنْتَقِمُ مِنْ مُقَاوِمِيهِ،
وَيَغْضَبُ مِنْ أعْدَائِهِ.
اللهُ صَبُورٌ وَلَكِنَّهُ قَوِيٌّ جِدًّا.
وَلَا يُبَرِّئُ المُخطِئِينَ.

حِينَ يَتَحَرَّكُ،
فَالزَّوَابِعُ وَالعَوَاصِفُ تَتْبَعُهُ فِي سَيرِهِ،
وَالغُيُومُ هِيَ الغُبَارُ الَّذِي تُثِيرُهُ قَدَمَاهُ.
يَنْتَهِرُ البَحْرَ فَيَجِفُّ،
وَيُجَفِّفُ كُلَّ الأنهَارِ.
أرَاضِي بَاشَانَ وَالكَرْمَلِ الخَصْبَةُ تَجِفُّ،
وَنَبَاتَاتُ لُبْنَانَ تَذْبُلُ.

The Lord’s Anger Against Nineveh

The Lord is a jealous(A) and avenging God;
    the Lord takes vengeance(B) and is filled with wrath.
The Lord takes vengeance on his foes
    and vents his wrath against his enemies.(C)
The Lord is slow to anger(D) but great in power;
    the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.(E)
His way is in the whirlwind(F) and the storm,(G)
    and clouds(H) are the dust of his feet.
He rebukes(I) the sea and dries it up;(J)
    he makes all the rivers run dry.
Bashan and Carmel(K) wither
    and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.
