عَمَالِيقُ يُهَاجِمُونَ صِقلَغ
30 وَحَالَمَا وَصَلَ دَاوُدُ وَرِجَالُهُ إلَى صِقلَغَ فِي اليَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ، رَأوْا أنَّ عَمَالِيقَ قَدْ هَاجَمُوا المَدِينَةَ. فَقَدْ غَزَا عَمَالِيقُ مِنْطَقَةِ النَّقَبِ،[a] وَهَاجَمُوا صِقلَغَ، وَأحرَقُوا المَدِينَةَ، 2 وَأخَذُوا كُلَّ نِسَائِهَا الكَبِيرَاتِ مِنهُنَّ وَالصَّغِيرَاتِ سَبَايَا. لَمْ يَقْتُلُوا أحَدًا، لَكِنَّهُمْ أسَرُوا الجَمِيعَ، وَذَهَبُوا فِي طَرِيقِهِم.
3 وَعِنْدَمَا دَخَلَ دَاوُدُ وَرِجَالُهُ صِقلَغَ، وَجَدُوهَا تَحْتَرِقُ. وَوَجَدُوا أنَّ زَوْجَاتِهِمْ وَأبْنَاءَهُمْ وَبَنَاتِهِمْ قَدْ أُسِرُوا. 4 فَبَكَى دَاوُدُ وَكُلُّ رِجَالِ جَيْشِهِ بِشِدَّةٍ حَتَّى لَمْ تَعُدْ لَدَيهِمْ قُوَّةٌ عَلَى البُكَاءِ. 5 وَكَانَتِ امْرَأتَا دَاوُدَ، أخِينُوعَمُ اليَزْرَعِيلِيَّةُ وَأبِيجَايِلُ أرمَلَةُ نَابَالَ الكَرمِلِيِّ، قَدْ أُخِذَتَا أيْضًا.
6 وَكَانَ كُلُّ رِجَالِ الجَيْشِ حَزَانَى وَغَاضِبِينَ لِأنَّ أبْنَاءَهُمْ وَبَنَاتِهِمْ قَدْ أُسِرُوا. فَتَشَاوَرَ الرِّجَالُ حَوْلَ رَجْمِ دَاوُدَ. فَتَضَايَقَ دَاوُدُ كَثِيرًا، لَكِنَّهُ وَجَدَ قُوَّةً فِي إلَهِهِ. 7 فَقَالَ دَاوُدُ لِلكَاهِنِ أبِيَاثَارَ: «أحضِرِ الثَّوبَ الكَهَنُوتِيَّ،» فأحضَرَهُ إلَى دَاوُدَ.
8 ثُمَّ سألَ دَاوُدُ اللهَ: «هَلْ سَأُطَارِدُ الَّذِينَ أخَذُوا عَائِلَاتِنَا؟ هَلْ سَألحَقُ بِهِمْ؟»
فَأجَابَ اللهُ: «طَارِدْهُمْ، وَسَتَلْحَقُ بِهِمْ، وَسَتُخَلِّصُ كُلَّ المَسبِيِّينَ.»
دَاوُدُ يُصَادِفُ عَبْدًا مِصْرِيًّا
9 فَأخَذَ دَاوُدُ السِّتَّ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ مَعَهُ وَذَهَبَ إلَى وَادِي البُسُورِ. فَتَخَلَّفَ بَعْضُهُمْ. 10 أمَّا دَاوُدُ وَالأرْبَعُ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ الَّذِينَ بَقَوْا مَعَهُ، فَوَاصَلُوا مُطَارَدَةَ عَمَالِيقَ. فقَدْ تَخَلَّفَ مِئَتَا رَجُلٍ، كَانُوا تَعِبِينَ وَلَمْ يَسْتَطِيعُوا مُواصَلَةَ السَّيرِ.
11 فَوَجَدَ رِجَالُ دَاوُدَ رَجُلًا مِصْرِيًّا فِي الخَلَاءِ، فَجَاءُوا بِهِ إلَى دَاوُدَ. وَأعْطَوْا المِصْرِيَّ مَاءً لِيَشْرَبَ وَطَعَامًا لِيَأْكُلَ، 12 إذْ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدْ ذَاقَ طَعَامًا أوْ شَرِبَ مَاءً ثَلَاثَةَ أيَّامٍ بِلَيَالِيهَا. فَأعْطَوْهُ كَعكَةَ تِينٍ، وَعُنقُودَينِ مِنَ الزَّبِيبِ، فَاسْتَعَادَ قُوَّتَهُ.
13 فَسَألَ دَاوُدُ المِصْرِيَّ: «مَنْ هُوَ سَيِّدُكَ؟ وَمِنْ أيْنَ أنْتَ؟» فَأجَابَ المِصْرِيُّ: «أنَا مِصْرِيٌّ، وَأنَا عَبدٌ لِرَجُلٍ عَمَالِيقِيٍّ. وَقَدْ مَرِضتُ قَبْلَ ثَلَاثَةِ أيَّامٍ. فَتَخَلَّى عَنِّي سَيِّدِي. 14 وَكُنَّا قَدْ هَاجَمْنَا جَنُوبَ النَّقَبِ حَيْثُ يَسْكُنُ الكْرِيتِيُّونَ. وَهَاجَمْنَا أيْضًا يَهُوذَا، حَيْثُ يَسْكُنُ الكَالَبِيُّونَ وَأحرَقْنَا مَدِينَةَ صِقلَغَ.»
15 فَسَألَ دَاوُدُ المِصْرِيَّ: «أتَقُودُنِي إلَى تِلْكَ الفِرقَةِ العَسْكَريَّةِ؟» فَأجَابَ المِصْرِيُّ: «إنْ حَلَفْتَ لِي فِي حَضْرَةِ اللهِ أنَّكَ لَنْ تَقْتُلَنِي أوْ تُعِيدَنِي إلَى سَيِّدِي، فَسَأُعِينُكَ عَلَى أنْ تَجِدَهُمْ.»
دَاوُدُ يَنْتَصِرُ عَلَى العَمَالِقَة
16 فَقَادَ المِصْرِيُّ دَاوُدَ إلَى عَمَالِيقَ. وَكَانُوا مُتَمَدِّدِينَ عَلَى الأرْضِ هُنَا وَهُنَاكَ، يَأْكُلُونَ وَيَشْرَبُونَ وَيَرْقُصُونَ احتِفَالًا بِالغَنَائمِ الَّتِي أخَذُوهَا مِنَ الفِلِسْطِيِّينَ وَمِنْ يَهُوذَا. 17 فَهَاجَمَهُمْ دَاوُدُ وَقَتَلَهُمْ. حَارَبَهُمْ مِنْ شُرُوقِ الشَّمْسِ إلَى مَسَاءِ اليَوْمِ التَّالِي. وَلَمْ يَهْرُبْ مِنْهُمْ أحَدٌ غَيْرُ أرْبَعِ مِئَةٍ مِنْ خُدَّامِهِمُ الفِتيَانِ الَّذِينَ رَكِبُوا عَلَى الجِمَالِ وَهَرَبُوا.
18 فَاسْتَرَدَّ دَاوُدُ كُلَّ مَا أخَذَهُ عَمَالِيقُ. وَأنقَذَ زَوْجَتَيْهِ أيْضًا. 19 وَلَمْ يَضِعْ لَهُمْ شَيءٌ. إذْ وَجَدُوا الجَمِيعَ صغَارًا وَكِبَارًا، كُلَّ أبْنَائِهِمْ وَبَنَاتِهِمْ، وَكُلَّ أشيَائِهِمُ الثَّمِينَةِ. استَرْجَعُوا كُلَّ مَا سَلَبَهُ عَمَالِيقُ. استَرْجَعَ دَاوُدُ كُلَّ شَيءٍ. 20 وَأخَذُوا كُلَّ الغَنَمِ وَالبَقَرِ. وَسَاقَهَا رِجَالُهُ أمَامَ كُلِّ الجَمَاعَةِ وَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ: «هَذِهِ هِيَ غَنِيمَةُ دَاوُدَ.»
الجَمِيعُ يَقْتَسِمُونَ الغَنَائِمَ بِالتَّسَاوِي
21 وَجَاءَ دَاوُدُ إلَى المِئَتَي رَجُلٍ الَّذِينَ بَقَوْا فِي وَادِي البُسُورِ. وَهُمُ الرَّجَالُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا تَعِبِينَ فَلَمْ يَسْتَطِيعُوا أنْ يَتْبَعُوا دَاوُدَ. فَخَرَجَ هَؤُلَاءِ لِلِقَاءِ دَاوُدَ وَالرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا مَعَهُ. فَاقْتَرَبَ دَاوُدُ إلَيْهِمْ وَحَيَّاهُمْ. 22 وَكَانَ بَيْنَ جَيْشِ دَاوُدَ الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا مَعَهُ بَعْضُ مُثِيرِي المَتَاعِبِ. فَتَذَمَّرُوا وَقَالُوا: «لَمْ يَذْهَبْ هَؤُلَاءِ المِئَتَا رَجُلٍ مَعَنَا. فَلِمَاذَا نُعطِيهِمْ أيَّ نَصِيبٍ مِنَ الغَنَائِمِ الَّتِي أخَذنَاهَا؟ يَكْفِيهِمْ أنَّنَا أرجَعْنَا لَهُمْ زَوْجَاتِهِمْ وَأبْنَاءَهُمْ.»
23 فَأجَابَ دَاوُدُ: «لَا يَا إخْوَتِي، لَا تَفْعَلُوا ذَلِكَ! انْظُرُوا كَمْ أعْطَانَا اللهُ! فَقَدْ حَمَانَا وَنَصَرَنَا عَلَى أعْدَائِنَا الَّذِينَ هَاجَمُونَا. 24 وَلَا أظُنُّ أنَّهُ يُوجَدُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْتَعِدٌّ لِلتَّجَاوُبِ مَعَ مَا تَقُولُونَ. لِهَذَا سَيَكُونُ نَصِيبُ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي بَقِي عِنْدَ المُؤَنِ نَفْسَ نَصِيبِ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي حَارَبَ. وَسَيَكُونُ تَوْزِيعُ الغَنَائِمِ بِالتَّسَاوِي.» 25 وَجَعَلَ دَاوُدُ هَذَا الشَّيءَ أمْرًا وَقَانُونًا فِي إسْرَائِيلَ. وَمَا يَزَالُ هَذَا القَانُونُ سَارِيًا إلَى الآنَ.
26 وَعِنْدَمَا وَصَلَ دَاوُدُ إلَى صِقلِغَ، أرْسَلَ بَعْضًا مِنَ الأشْيَاءِ الَّتِي غَنِمَهَا مِنْ عَمَالِيقَ إلَى أصدِقَائِهِ قَادَةِ يَهُوذَا. وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «هَذِهِ هَدِيَّةٌ لَكُمْ أخَذنَاهَا مِنْ أعْدَاءِ اللهِ.»
27 فَأرْسلَهَا إلَى قَادَةِ بَيْتِ إيلَ وَرَامُوثَ فِي النَّقَبِ وَيَتِّيرَ 28 وَعَرُوعِيرَ وَسِفمُوثَ وَأشتَمُوعَ 29 وَرَاخَالَ وَمُدُنِ اليَرْحَمْئِيلِيِّينَ وَمُدُنِ القِينِيِّينَ 30 وَحُرمَةَ وَبُورِ عَاشَانَ وَعَتَاكَ 31 وَحَبْرُونَ[b]، وَإلَى كُلِّ الأمَاكِنِ الأُخرَى الَّتِي كَانَ يَرتَادُهَا دَاوُدُ وَرِجَالُهُ.

30 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.
3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8 And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
9 So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
11 And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;
12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.
13 And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.
14 We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.
15 And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.
16 And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.
18 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.
19 And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
20 And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David's spoil.
21 And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.
22 Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
25 And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
26 And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the Lord;
27 To them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir,
28 And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa,
29 And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites,
30 And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chorashan, and to them which were in Athach,
31 And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.

30 Cuando David y sus hombres vinieron a Siclag al tercer día, los de Amalec habían invadido el Neguev y a Siclag, y habían asolado a Siclag y le habían prendido fuego. 2 Y se habían llevado cautivas a las mujeres y a todos los que estaban allí, desde el menor hasta el mayor; pero a nadie habían dado muerte, sino se los habían llevado al seguir su camino. 3 Vino, pues, David con los suyos a la ciudad, y he aquí que estaba quemada, y sus mujeres y sus hijos e hijas habían sido llevados cautivos. 4 Entonces David y la gente que con él estaba alzaron su voz y lloraron, hasta que les faltaron las fuerzas para llorar. 5 Las dos mujeres de David, Ahinoam jezreelita y Abigail la que fue mujer de Nabal el de Carmel, también eran cautivas.(A) 6 Y David se angustió mucho, porque el pueblo hablaba de apedrearlo, pues todo el pueblo estaba en amargura de alma, cada uno por sus hijos y por sus hijas; mas David se fortaleció en Jehová su Dios.
7 Y dijo David al sacerdote Abiatar(B) hijo de Ahimelec: Yo te ruego que me acerques el efod. Y Abiatar acercó el efod a David. 8 Y David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Perseguiré a estos merodeadores? ¿Los podré alcanzar? Y él le dijo: Síguelos, porque ciertamente los alcanzarás, y de cierto librarás a los cautivos. 9 Partió, pues, David, él y los seiscientos hombres que con él estaban, y llegaron hasta el torrente de Besor, donde se quedaron algunos. 10 Y David siguió adelante con cuatrocientos hombres; porque se quedaron atrás doscientos, que cansados no pudieron pasar el torrente de Besor.
11 Y hallaron en el campo a un hombre egipcio, el cual trajeron a David, y le dieron pan, y comió, y le dieron a beber agua. 12 Le dieron también un pedazo de masa de higos secos y dos racimos de pasas. Y luego que comió, volvió en él su espíritu; porque no había comido pan ni bebido agua en tres días y tres noches. 13 Y le dijo David: ¿De quién eres tú, y de dónde eres? Y respondió el joven egipcio: Yo soy siervo de un amalecita, y me dejó mi amo hoy hace tres días, porque estaba yo enfermo; 14 pues hicimos una incursión a la parte del Neguev que es de los cereteos, y de Judá, y al Neguev de Caleb; y pusimos fuego a Siclag. 15 Y le dijo David: ¿Me llevarás tú a esa tropa? Y él dijo: Júrame por Dios que no me matarás, ni me entregarás en mano de mi amo, y yo te llevaré a esa gente.
16 Lo llevó, pues; y he aquí que estaban desparramados sobre toda aquella tierra, comiendo y bebiendo y haciendo fiesta, por todo aquel gran botín que habían tomado de la tierra de los filisteos y de la tierra de Judá. 17 Y los hirió David desde aquella mañana hasta la tarde del día siguiente; y no escapó de ellos ninguno, sino cuatrocientos jóvenes que montaron sobre los camellos y huyeron. 18 Y libró David todo lo que los amalecitas habían tomado, y asimismo libertó David a sus dos mujeres. 19 Y no les faltó cosa alguna, chica ni grande, así de hijos como de hijas, del robo, y de todas las cosas que les habían tomado; todo lo recuperó David. 20 Tomó también David todas las ovejas y el ganado mayor; y trayéndolo todo delante, decían: Este es el botín de David.
21 Y vino David a los doscientos hombres que habían quedado cansados y no habían podido seguir a David, a los cuales habían hecho quedar en el torrente de Besor; y ellos salieron a recibir a David y al pueblo que con él estaba. Y cuando David llegó a la gente, les saludó con paz. 22 Entonces todos los malos y perversos de entre los que habían ido con David, respondieron y dijeron: Porque no fueron con nosotros, no les daremos del botín que hemos quitado, sino a cada uno su mujer y sus hijos; que los tomen y se vayan. 23 Y David dijo: No hagáis eso, hermanos míos, de lo que nos ha dado Jehová, quien nos ha guardado, y ha entregado en nuestra mano a los merodeadores que vinieron contra nosotros. 24 ¿Y quién os escuchará en este caso? Porque conforme a la parte del que desciende a la batalla, así ha de ser la parte del que queda con el bagaje; les tocará parte igual. 25 Desde aquel día en adelante fue esto por ley y ordenanza en Israel, hasta hoy.
26 Y cuando David llegó a Siclag, envió del botín a los ancianos de Judá, sus amigos, diciendo: He aquí un presente para vosotros del botín de los enemigos de Jehová. 27 Lo envió a los que estaban en Bet-el, en Ramot del Neguev, en Jatir, 28 en Aroer, en Sifmot, en Estemoa, 29 en Racal, en las ciudades de Jerameel, en las ciudades del ceneo, 30 en Horma, en Corasán, en Atac, 31 en Hebrón, y en todos los lugares donde David había estado con sus hombres.

David Destroys the Amalekites
30 David and his men reached Ziklag(A) on the third day. Now the Amalekites(B) had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned(C) it, 2 and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.
3 When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.(D) 4 So David and his men wept(E) aloud until they had no strength left to weep. 5 David’s two wives(F) had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. 6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning(G) him; each one was bitter(H) in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength(I) in the Lord his God.
7 Then David said to Abiathar(J) the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the ephod.(K)” Abiathar brought it to him, 8 and David inquired(L) of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?”
“Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed(M) in the rescue.(N)”
9 David and the six hundred men(O) with him came to the Besor Valley, where some stayed behind. 10 Two hundred of them were too exhausted(P) to cross the valley, but David and the other four hundred continued the pursuit.
11 They found an Egyptian in a field and brought him to David. They gave him water to drink and food to eat— 12 part of a cake of pressed figs and two cakes of raisins. He ate and was revived,(Q) for he had not eaten any food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.
13 David asked him, “Who do you belong to? Where do you come from?”
He said, “I am an Egyptian, the slave of an Amalekite.(R) My master abandoned me when I became ill three days ago. 14 We raided the Negev of the Kerethites,(S) some territory belonging to Judah and the Negev of Caleb.(T) And we burned(U) Ziklag.”
15 David asked him, “Can you lead me down to this raiding party?”
He answered, “Swear to me before God that you will not kill me or hand me over to my master,(V) and I will take you down to them.”
16 He led David down, and there they were, scattered over the countryside, eating, drinking and reveling(W) because of the great amount of plunder(X) they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from Judah. 17 David fought(Y) them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.(Z) 18 David recovered(AA) everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. 19 Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. 20 He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder.”
21 Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted(AB) to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Valley. They came out to meet David and the men with him. As David and his men approached, he asked them how they were. 22 But all the evil men and troublemakers among David’s followers said, “Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered. However, each man may take his wife and children and go.”
23 David replied, “No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the Lord has given us. He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us. 24 Who will listen to what you say? The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.(AC)” 25 David made this a statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this.
26 When David reached Ziklag, he sent some of the plunder to the elders of Judah, who were his friends, saying, “Here is a gift(AD) for you from the plunder of the Lord’s enemies.”
27 David sent it to those who were in Bethel,(AE) Ramoth(AF) Negev and Jattir;(AG) 28 to those in Aroer,(AH) Siphmoth,(AI) Eshtemoa(AJ) 29 and Rakal; to those in the towns of the Jerahmeelites(AK) and the Kenites;(AL) 30 to those in Hormah,(AM) Bor Ashan,(AN) Athak 31 and Hebron;(AO) and to those in all the other places where he and his men had roamed.
