قَدِّمُوا حَيَاتَكُمْ للهِ
12 وَلِهَذَا فَإنِّي أرْجُوكُمْ أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، فِي ضَوْءِ رَحمَةِ اللهِ، أنْ تُقَدِّمُوا حَيَاتَكُمْ ذَبِيحَةً حَيَّةً مُقَدَّسَةً مُرضِيَةً للهِ. فَهَذِهِ هِيَ عِبَادَتُكُمُ الرُّوحِيَّةُ اللَّائِقَةُ بِهِ. 2 فَلَا تَتَشَبَّهُوا فِيمَا بَعْدُ بِأهْلِ هَذِهِ الدُّنيَا. بَلْ لِيُغَيِّرْكُمُ اللهُ فَيُجَدِّدَ فِكرَكُمْ، لِكَي تَكْتَشِفُوا مَا هِيَ إرَادَةُ اللهِ، أيْ مَا هُوَ صَالِحٌ وَمُرْضٍ وَكَامِلٌ.
3 وَأنَا أقُولُ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ فِي ضَوْءِ عَطِيَّةِ اللهِ الكَرِيمَةِ لِي: لَا تُبَالِغُوا فِي تَقْدِيرِ ذَوَاتِكُمْ، بَلْ قَدِّرُوهَا بِتَعَقُّلٍ وَفْقًا لِمِقيَاسِ الإيمَانِ الَّذِي أعطَاهُ اللهُ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمْ. 4 فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ يَتَألَّفُ مِنْ أعضَاءٍ كَثِيرَةٍ، وَلَا تَقُومُ جَمِيعُ الأعضَاءِ بِالوَظِيفَةِ نَفْسِهَا. 5 هَكَذَا نَحْنُ أيْضًا أعضَاءٌ كَثِيرُونَ، وَنُشَكِّلُ جَسَدًا وَاحِدًا فِي المَسِيحِ. وَكُلُّ عُضوٍ يَنْتَمِي إلَى بَاقِي الأعضَاءِ. 6 فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا مَوهِبَةٌ مُختَلِفَةٌ مُعطَاةٌ لَنَا بِسبَبِ نِعْمَةِ اللهِ.
فَإنْ كَانَتْ لِشَخْصٍ مَوهِبَةُ النُّبُوَّةِ، فَلْيَسْتَخْدِمْهَا وَفْقًا لِلإيمَانِ. 7 وَمَنْ لَهُ مَوهِبَةُ الخِدْمَةِ، فَلْيُكَرِّسْ نَفْسَهُ لِلخِدْمَةِ. وَمَنْ لَهُ مَوهِبَةُ التَّعلِيمِ، فَلْيُكَرِّسْ نَفْسَهُ لِلتَّعلِيمِ. 8 وَمَنْ لَهُ مَوهِبَةُ التَّشجِيعِ، فَلْيُكَرِّسْ نَفْسَهُ لِلتَّشجِيعِ. وَمَنْ لَهُ مَوهِبَةُ العَطَاءِ، فَلْيُعطِ بِسَخَاءٍ. وَمَنْ لَهُ عَطِيَّةُ التَّدبِيرِ، فَلْيَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ بِاجتِهَادٍ. وَمَنْ لَهُ مَوهِبَةُ القِيَامِ بِأعْمَالِ الرَّحمَةِ، فَلْيَقُمْ بِهَا بِابتِهَاجٍ.
9 لِتَكُنْ مَحَبَّتُكُمْ بِلَا نِفَاقٍ. أبغِضُوا مَا هُوَ شِرِّيرٌ، وَتَعَلَّقُوا بِمَا هُوَ صَالِحٌ. 10 لِيُحِبَّ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا مَحَبَّةً أخَويَّةً، وَليُكرِمْ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ الآخَرَ أكْثَرَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ. 11 لَا تَدَعُوا حَمَاسَتَكُمْ تَبْرُدُ. تَوَهَّجُوا بِالرُّوحِ. اخدِمُوا الرَّبَّ. 12 افرَحُوا فِي رَجَائِكُمْ. اصبِرُوا فِي وَسَطِ الضِّيقِ. ثَابِرُوا عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ. 13 شَارِكُوا فِي احتِيَاجَاتِ المُؤمِنِينَ المُقَدَّسِينَ. وَابذُلُوا جَهْدَكُمْ فِي استِضَافَةِ النَّاسِ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ.
14 اطْلُبُوا بَرَكَةَ اللهِ لِمَنْ يَضْطَهِدُكُمْ. اطْلُبُوا لَهُمُ البَرَكَةَ لَا اللَّعنَةَ. 15 افرَحُوا مَعَ الفَرِحِينَ، وَاحزَنُوا مَعَ الحَزَانَى. 16 عِيشُوا فِي انسِجَامٍ بَعْضُكُمْ مَعَ بَعْضٍ. وَلَا تَتَكَبَّرُوا، بَلْ عَاشِرُوا البُسَطَاءَ، وَلَا تَغْتَرُّوا وَكَأنَّكُمْ أذكَى مِنَ الآخَرِينَ!
17 لَا تُجَازُوا أحَدًا عَنِ الشَّرِّ بِشَرٍّ، بَلِ اهتَمُّوا بِعَمَلِ مَا هُوَ صَالِحٌ أمَامَ جَمِيعِ النَّاسِ. 18 سَالِمُوا جَمِيعَ النَّاسِ عَلَى قَدْرِ طَاقَتِكُمْ، إنْ أمكَنَ ذَلِكَ. 19 لَا تَنْتَقِمُوا لِأنفُسِكُمْ أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، بَلِ أفْسِحُوا مَجَالًا لِغَضَبِ اللهِ، لِأنَّهُ مَكْتُوبٌ:
«يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ:
‹لِيَ الانْتِقَامُ،
وَأنَا الَّذِي سَيُجَازِي.›»[a]
20 بَلْ …
«إنْ جَاعَ عَدُوُّكَ، فَأطعِمْهُ.
وَإنْ عَطِشَ، فَأعْطِهِ لِيَشْرَبَ.
فَكَأنَّكَ بِهَذَا تَضَعُ جَمرًا مُلتَهِبًا[b] عَلَى رَأسِهِ!»[c]
21 فَلَا تَدَعِ الشَّرَّ يَهْزِمُكَ، بَلِ اهزِمِ الشَّرَّ بِالخَيْرِ.

יב אחים יקרים, אני מתחנן לפניכם שתמסרו את עצמכם לאלוהים כקורבן חי וקדוש, כפי שרצוי לאלוהים. לאור כל מה שעשה אלוהים למענכם, האם זאת בקשה מופרזת? 2 אל תחקו את העולם בהתנהגותכם ובמעשיכם, אלא הניחו לאלוהים לפעול בכם ולשנות אתכם ואת דרך מחשבתכם, כדי שתלמדו להבחין מהו רצון אלוהים, ותדעו מה טוב, מושלם ורצוי בעיניו.
3 כשליחו של אלוהים אני מזהיר כל אחד מכם: אל תפריזו בהערכתכם העצמית, אלא היו צנועים והעריכו את עצמכם לפי מידת האמונה שהעניק לכם אלוהים. 4 כשם שגופנו האחד הוא בעל איברים רבים, ולכל איבר תפקיד משלו, 5 כך אנחנו, המאמינים הרבים, הננו גוף המשיח. לכל אחד מאיתנו תפקיד משלו, אך אנו שייכים זה לזה וזקוקים איש לאחיו.
6 אלוהים העניק לכל אחד מאתנו מתנות וכישרונות לפי רצונו. אם הוא העניק לך את מתנת הנבואה, נבא בכל הזדמנות, לפי מידת אמונתך. 7 אם אלוהים העניק לך רצון מיוחד לשרת את הזולת, עשה זאת בלב שלם. אם אתה מורה, למד כמיטב ידיעתך. 8 אם קיבלת את מתנת העידוד, פעל מתוך דאגה אמיתית. אם אלוהים העניק לך כסף, עזור לאחרים ביד רחבה. אם נבחרת למנהיג, מלא את תפקידך ברצינות ובאחריות. אם אתה עושה מעשה טוב, עשה אותו מתוך שמחה אמיתית.
9 אל תעמידו פנים שאתם אוהבים אנשים אחרים, אלא אהבו אותם באמת ובכנות. שנאו כל דבר רע ועודדו כל מעשה טוב. 10 אהבו איש את רעהו אהבה אמיתית – כאהבת אחים – והקדימו לכבד איש את רעהו. 11 שרתו את האדון בחריצות ובהתלהבות, ולעולם אל תתעצלו בעבודתכם.
12 שמחו על כל מה שאלוהים מתכנן למענכם. אם באה עליכם צרה, שאו אותה בסבלנות והתמידו בתפילה. 13 אם אחיכם המאמינים זקוקים לעזרה, עזרו להם ברצון ובשמחה. היו מכניסי אורחים.
14 אם מישהו רודף אתכם בשל אמונתכם במשיח, אל תקללו אותו, אלא התפללו שאלוהים יברך אותו! 15 השתתפו בשמחתם של החוגגים ובצערם של האבלים. 16 חיו בשלום זה עם זה. אל תתגאו ואל תימלאו חשיבות עצמית. אל תנסו למצוא-חן בעיני אנשים חשובים ואל תהיו חכמים בעיניכם.
17 לעולם אל תשלמו רעה תחת רעה. עשו את הטוב בעיני כולם, ואל תתנו להם סיבה למתוח עליכם ביקורת. 18 עד כמה שהדבר תלוי בכם, חיו בשלום עם כל אחד.
19 ידידי, אל תיקחו את החוק לידיכם, ואל תנקמו באחרים; השאירו תפקיד זה לאלוהים, כי הוא הבטיח שיעניש את הראויים לעונש. 20 במקום לנקום באויבך, האכל אותו אם הוא רעב, ואם הוא צמא – הגש לו משקה. כי ככה כאילו "גחלים אתה חתה על ראשו."[a] 21 אל תניח לרע להשתלט עליך, אלא השתלט אתה על הרע במעשיך הטובים.

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Living Sacrifices to God

Behave Like a Christian
9 (R)Let love be without hypocrisy. (S)Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 (T)Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, (U)in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 (V)rejoicing in hope, (W)patient[c] in tribulation, (X)continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 (Y)distributing to the needs of the saints, (Z)given[d] to hospitality.
14 (AA)Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 (AB)Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 (AC)Be of the same mind toward one another. (AD)Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
17 (AE)Repay no one evil for evil.
