قَبْلَ المَجِيءِ الثَّانِي للرَّب
2 أمَّا بِالنِّسبَةِ لِعَودَةِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ وَالتِقَائِنَا مَعًا بِهِ، فَنَرجُو مِنْكُمْ أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ 2 أنْ لَا تَفْقِدُوا فَجْأةً إدرَاكَكُمُ السَّلِيمَ حَوْلَ هَذَا الأمْرِ، أوْ تَنْزَعِجُوا بِسَبَبِ نُبُوَّةٍ أوْ تَعْلِيمٍ أوْ رِسَالَةٍ تُنسَبُ إلَينَا، وَتَدَّعِي أنَّ يَوْمَ الرَّبِّ قَدْ جَاءَ بِالفِعْلِ. 3 احتَرِسُوا مِنْ أنْ يَخْدَعَكُمْ أحَدٌ بِأيَّةِ طَرِيقَةٍ كَانَتْ. أقُولُ هَذَا لِأنَّ يَوْمَ الرَّبِّ لَنْ يَأْتِيَ قَبْلَ أنْ يَأْتِيَ التَّمَرُّدُ الكَبِيرُ أوَّلًا، وَيَظْهَرَ «رَجُلُ المَعصِيَةِ،» 4 الَّذِي سَيُقَاوِمُ كُلَّ مَا يُشَارُ إلَيْهِ عَلَى أنَّهُ «إلَهٌ» أوْ «مَعبُودٌ،» وَيَجْعَلُ نَفْسَهُ فَوقَهَا كُلِّهَا. بَلْ إنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ إلَى هَيْكَلِ اللهِ وَيَجْلِسُ هُنَاكَ مُدَّعِيًا أنَّهُ هُوَ نَفْسُهُ اللهُ!
5 ألَا تَذْكُرُونَ أنِّي كُنْتُ أقُولُ لَكُمْ هَذَا وَأنَا بَعْدُ مَعَكُمْ؟ 6 وَهَكَذَا فَإنَّكُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ مَا الَّذِي يَمْنَعُهُ الآنَ مِنَ الظُّهُورِ، حَيْثُ سَيَظْهَرُ فِي الوَقْتِ المُعَيَّنِ. 7 لِأنَّ القُوَّةَ الخَفِيَّةَ للمَعصِيَةِ تَعْمَلُ بِالفِعْلِ، لَكِنِ الَّذِي يَمْنَعُهُ الآنَ سَيُواصِلُ مَنْعَهُ إلَى أنْ يُرفَعَ هَذَا المَانِعُ. 8 حِينَئِذٍ، سَيَظْهَرُ ذَلِكَ العَاصِي، وَسَيُبِيدُهُ الرَّبُّ يَسُوعُ بِنَفخَةٍ مِنْ فَمِهِ، وَيُدَمِّرُهُ عِنْدَمَا يَعُودُ فِي ظُهُورِهِ المَجِيدِ.
9 وَسَيَكُونُ مَجِيئُهُ بِقُوَّةِ إبْلِيسَ، مَصحُوبًا بِقُوَّةٍ عَظِيمَةٍ وَبِبَرَاهِينَ وَعَجَائِبَ كَاذِبَةٍ. 10 سَيَسْتَخْدِمُ كُلَّ أشكَالِ الشَّرِّ المُخَادِعِ، لِيَخْدَعَ السَّائِرِينَ عَلَى طَرِيقِ الهَلَاكِ. وَسَيَهْلِكُونَ لِأنَّهُمْ رَفَضُوا أنْ يُحِبُّوا الحَقَّ الَّذِي يُخَلِّصُهُمْ. 11 وَلِهَذَا السَّبَبِ، يُرْسِلُ اللهُ إلَيْهِمْ قُوَّةَ الضَّلَالِ لِتَعْمَلَ فِيهِمْ، لِكَي يُصَدِّقُوا الخِدَاعَ. 12 وَسَيَدِينُ اللهُ كُلَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُصَدِّقُونَ الحَقَّ بَلْ يَتَلَذَّذُونَ بِالإثمِ.

13 وَأمَّا نَحْنُ فَيَنْبَغِي أنْ نَشكُرَ اللهَ دَائِمًا مِنْ أجْلِكُمْ أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ المَحبُوبُونَ مِنَ الرَّبِّ. يَنْبَغِي أنْ نَشكُرَ اللهَ لِأنَّهُ اخْتَارَكُمْ مِنَ البَدءِ لِكَي تَخْلُصُوا، وَذَلِكَ بِعَمَلِ الرُّوحِ القُدُسِ الَّذِي يُقَدِّسُكُمْ، وَبِإيمَانِكُمْ أنْتُمْ بِالحَقِّ. 14 دَعَاكُمُ اللهُ إلَى هَذَا الخَلَاصِ بِوَاسِطَةِ البِشَارَةِ الَّتِي بَشَّرنَاكُمْ بِهَا، لِكَي تَحْصُلُوا عَلَى المَجْدِ الَّذِي يَخُصُّ رَبَّنَا يَسُوعَ المَسِيحِ. 15 فَاثبُتُوا أيُّهَا الإخْوَةُ، وَتَمَسَّكُوا بِالتَّقَالِيدِ الَّتِي تَسَلَّمتُمُوهَا مِنَّا، سَوَاءٌ بِالْكَلَامِ أمْ بِرِسَالَتِنَا.
16 فَلَيتَ الرَّبَّ يَسُوعَ المَسِيحَ نَفْسَهُ، وَاللهَ أبَانَا الَّذِي أظْهَرَ لَنَا مَحَبَّتَهُ، وَأعطَانَا بِنِعْمَتِهِ عَزَاءً أبَدِيًّا وَرَجَاءً رَاسِخًا، 17 أنْ يُعَزِّيَكُمْ وَيُقَوِّيَكُمْ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ صَالِحٍ تَعْمَلُونَهُ وَتَقُولُونَهُ.

Apparizione dell'Anticristo
2 (A)Ora, fratelli, circa la venuta del Signore nostro Gesú Cristo e il nostro incontro con lui, vi preghiamo 2 di non lasciarvi cosí presto sconvolgere la mente, né turbare sia da pretese ispirazioni, sia da discorsi, sia da qualche lettera data come nostra, come se il giorno del Signore fosse già presente. 3 Nessuno vi inganni in alcun modo; poiché quel giorno non verrà se prima non sia venuta l'apostasia e non sia stato manifestato l'uomo del peccato, il figlio della perdizione, 4 l'avversario, colui che s'innalza sopra tutto ciò che è chiamato Dio od oggetto di culto; fino al punto da porsi a sedere nel *tempio di Dio, mostrando sé stesso e proclamandosi Dio.
5 Non vi ricordate che quand'ero ancora con voi vi dicevo queste cose? 6 Ora voi sapete ciò che lo trattiene affinché sia manifestato a suo tempo. 7 Infatti il mistero dell'empietà è già in atto, soltanto c'è chi ora lo trattiene, finché sia tolto di mezzo. 8 E allora sarà manifestato l'empio, che il Signore Gesú distruggerà con il soffio della sua bocca,[a] e annienterà con l'apparizione della sua venuta. 9 La venuta di quell'empio avrà luogo, per l'azione efficace di Satana, con ogni sorta di opere potenti, di segni e di prodigi bugiardi, 10 con ogni tipo d'inganno e d'iniquità a danno di quelli che periscono perché non hanno aperto il cuore all'amore della verità per essere salvati. 11 Perciò Dio manda loro una potenza d'errore perché credano alla menzogna; 12 affinché tutti quelli che non hanno creduto alla verità ma si sono compiaciuti nell'iniquità, siano giudicati.
Esortazione alla fermezza, alla preghiera e al lavoro
13 (B)Ma noi dobbiamo sempre ringraziare Dio per voi, fratelli amati dal Signore, perché Dio fin dal principio vi ha eletti a salvezza mediante la santificazione nello Spirito e la fede nella verità. 14 A questo egli vi ha pure chiamati per mezzo del nostro *vangelo, affinché otteniate la gloria del Signore nostro Gesú Cristo.
15 Cosí dunque, fratelli, state saldi e ritenete gli insegnamenti che vi abbiamo trasmessi sia con la parola, sia con una nostra lettera. 16 Ora lo stesso Signore nostro Gesú Cristo e Dio nostro Padre che ci ha amati e ci ha dato per la sua grazia una consolazione eterna e una buona speranza, 17 consoli i vostri cuori e vi confermi in ogni opera buona e in ogni buona parola.

2 Or vi preghiamo, fratelli, riguardo alla venuta del Signor nostro Gesú Cristo e al nostro adunamento con lui,
2 di non lasciarvi subito sconvolgere nella mente nè turbare o da spirito, o da parola, o da qualche epistola come se venisse da parte nostra, quasi che il giorno di Cristo sia già venuto.
3 Nessuno v'inganni in alcuna maniera, perché quel giorno non verrà se prima non sia venuta l'apostasia e prima che sia manifestato l'uomo del peccato, il figlio della perdizione,
4 l'avversario, colui che s'innalza sopra tutto ciò che è chiamato dio o oggetto di adorazione, tanto da porsi a sedere nel tempio di Dio come Dio, mettendo in mostra se stesso e proclamando di essere Dio.
5 Non vi ricordate che, quando ero ancora tra voi, vi dicevo queste cose?
6 E ora sapete ciò che lo ritiene, affinché sia manifestato a suo tempo.
7 Il mistero dell'empietà infatti è già all'opera, aspettando soltanto che chi lo ritiene al presente sia tolto di mezzo.
8 Allora sarà manifestato quell'empio che il Signore distruggerà col soffio della sua bocca e annienterà all'apparire della sua venuta.
9 La venuta di quell'empio avverrà per l'azione di Satana, accompagnata da ogni sorta di portenti, di segni e di prodigi bugiardi,
10 e da ogni inganno di malvagità per quelli che periscono, perché hanno rifiutato di amare la verità per essere salvati.
11 E per questo Dio manderà loro efficacia di errore, perché credano alla menzogna,
12 affinché siano giudicati tutti quelli che non hanno creduto alla verità, ma si sono compiaciuti nella malvagità!
13 Ma noi siamo obbligati a rendere del continuo grazie per voi a Dio, fratelli amati dal Signore, perché Dio vi ha eletti fin dal principio per salvarvi, mediante la santificazione dello Spirito e la fede nella verità;
14 a questo egli vi ha chiamati per mezzo del nostro evangelo, affinché giungiate ad ottenere la gloria del Signor nostro Gesú Cristo.
15 Perciò, fratelli, state saldi e ritenete gli insegnamenti che avete imparato tramite la parola o la nostra epistola.
16 Ora, il Signor nostro Gesú Cristo stesso e Dio nostro Padre, che ci ha amati e ci ha dato per grazia una consolazione eterna e una buona speranza,
17 consoli i vostri cuori e vi confermi in ogni buona parola ed opera.

The Man of Lawlessness
2 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ(A) and our being gathered to him,(B) we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter(C)—asserting that the day of the Lord(D) has already come.(E) 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you(F) in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion(G) occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed,(H) the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God(I) or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.(J)
5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?(K) 6 And now you know what is holding him back,(L) so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back(M) will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed,(N) whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth(O) and destroy by the splendor of his coming.(P) 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan(Q) works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders(R) that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing.(S) They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.(T) 11 For this reason God sends them(U) a powerful delusion(V) so that they will believe the lie(W) 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.(X)
Stand Firm
13 But we ought always to thank God for you,(Y) brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[b](Z) to be saved(AA) through the sanctifying work of the Spirit(AB) and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you(AC) to this through our gospel,(AD) that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm(AE) and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you,(AF) whether by word of mouth or by letter.
16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father,(AG) who loved us(AH) and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage(AI) your hearts and strengthen(AJ) you in every good deed and word.

2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
