4 إِذَنْ، أَنَا السَّجِينَ مِنْ أَجْلِ الرَّبِّ، أُنَاشِدُكُمْ أَنْ تَسْلُكُوا سُلُوكاً يَلِيقُ بِالدَّعْوَةِ الَّتِي إِلَيْهَا دُعِيتُمْ، 2 بِكُلِّ تَوَاضُعٍ وَوَدَاعَةٍ وَطُولِ بَالٍ، مُحْتَمِلِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً فِي الْمَحَبَّةِ، 3 مُجْتَهِدِينَ أَنْ تُحَافِظُوا عَلَى وَحْدَةِ الرُّوحِ بِرَابِطَةِ الْوِفَاقِ. فَإِنَّمَا هُنَاكَ جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ وَرُوحٌ وَاحِدٌ، 4 مِثْلَمَا دُعِيتُمْ، جَمِيعُكُمْ، دَعْوَةً لَهَا رَجَاءٌ وَاحِدٌ. 5 وَلَكُمْ رَبٌّ وَاحِدٌ، وَإِيمَانٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَمَعْمُودِيَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، 6 وَإِلَهٌ وَآبٌ وَاحِدٌ لِلْجَمِيعِ، وَهُوَ فَوْقَ الْجَمِيعِ وَبالْجَمِيعِ وَفِي الْجَمِيعِ. 7 عَلَى أَنَّ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا قَدْ أُعْطِيَ نِعْمَةً تُوَافِقُ مِقْدَارَ مَا يَهَبُهُ الْمَسِيحُ. 8 لِذَلِكَ يَقُولُ الْوَحْيُ: «إِذْ صَعِدَ إِلَى الأَعَالِي، سَبَى أَسْرَى، وَوَهَبَ النَّاسَ مَوَاهِبَ!» 9 وَأَمَّا أَنَّهُ «صَعِدَ»، فَمَا مَعْنَى هَذَا سِوَى أَنَّهُ كَانَ قَدْ نَزَلَ أَيْضاً إِلَى الأَقْسَامِ السُّفْلَى فِي الأَرْضِ؟ 10 إِنَّ الَّذِي نَزَلَ هُوَ نَفْسُهُ الَّذِي صَعِدَ إِلَى مَا فَوْقَ جَمِيعِ السَّمَاوَاتِ لِكَيْ يَمْلأَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ. 11 وَهُوَ قَدْ وَهَبَ الْبَعْضَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا رُسُلاً، وَالْبَعْضَ أَنْبِيَاءَ، وَالْبَعْضَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَالْبَعْضَ رُعَاةً وَمُعَلِّمِينَ، 12 لِتَأْهِيلِ الْقِدِّيسِينَ مِنْ جِهَةِ عَمَلِ الْخِدْمَةِ، لِبُنْيَانِ جَسَدِ الْمَسِيحِ، 13 حَتَّى نَصِلَ جَمِيعاً إِلَى وَحْدَةِ الإِيمَانِ وَوَحْدَةِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ لابْنِ اللهِ، إِلَى إِنْسَانٍ تَامِّ الْبُلُوغِ، إِلَى مِقْدَارِ قَامَةِ مِلْءِ الْمَسِيحِ. 14 وَذَلِكَ حَتَّى لَا نَكُونَ فِيمَا بَعْدُ أَطْفَالاً تَتَقَاذَفُنَا وَتَحْمِلُنَا كُلُّ رِيحِ تَعْلِيمٍ يَقُومُ عَلَى خِدَاعِ النَّاسِ وَالْمَكْرِ بِهِمْ لِجَرِّهِمْ إِلَى الضَّلالِ الْمُلَفَّقِ، 15 بَلْ نَتَمَسَّكَ بِالْحَقِّ فِي الْمَحَبَّةِ، فَنَنْمُوَ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ نَحْوَ مَنْ هُوَ الرَّأْسُ، أَيِ الْمَسِيحِ. 16 فَمِنْهُ يَسْتَمِدُّ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ تَمَاسُكَهُ وَتَرَابُطَهُ بِمُسَانَدَةِ كُلِّ مَفْصِلٍ وَفْقاً لِمِقْدَارِ الْعَمَلِ الْمُخَصَّصِ لِكُلِّ جُزْءٍ، لِيُنْشِئَ نُمُوّاً يَؤُولُ إِلَى بُنْيَانِ الْجَسَدِ بُنْيَاناً ذَاتِيًّا فِي الْمَحَبَّةِ.

17 أَقُولُ هَذَا إِذَنْ، وَأَشْهَدُ فِي الرَّبِّ، رَاجِياً أَلّا تَسْلُكُوا فِيمَا بَعْدُ كَمَا يَسْلُكُ الأُمَمُ فِي عُقْمِ ذِهْنِهِمْ، 18 لِكَوْنِهِمْ مُظْلِمِي الْبَصيِرَةِ وَمُتَغَرِّبِينَ عَنْ حَيَاةِ اللهِ بِسَبَبِ مَا فِيهِمْ مِنْ جَهْلٍ وَقَسَاوَةِ قَلْبٍ. 19 فَهؤُلاءِ، إِذْ طَرَحُوا جَانِباً كُلَّ إِحْسَاسٍ، اسْتَسْلَمُوا لِلإِبَاحِيَّةِ لِيَرْتَكِبُوا كُلَّ نَجَاسَةٍ بِشَهْوَةٍ نَهِمَةٍ لَا تَرْتَوِي. 20 أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ، فَلَمْ تَتَعَلَّمُوا الْمَسِيحَ هكَذَا، 21 إِذَا كُنْتُمْ قَدْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ حَقّاً وَتَلَقَّيْتُمْ فِيهِ التَّعْلِيمَ الْمُوَافِقَ لِلْحَقِّ الَّذِي فِي يَسُوعَ! 22 وَهَوَ أَنْ تَخْلَعُوا مَا يَتَعَلَّقُ بِسِيرَتِكُمُ الْمَاضِيَةِ: الإِنْسَانَ الْعَتِيقَ يَفْسَدُ بِالشَّهْوَاتِ الْخَدَّاعَةِ؛ 23 وَتَتَجَدَّدُوا فِي رُوحِ ذِهْنِكُمْ؛ 24 وَتَلْبَسُوا الإِنْسَانَ الْجَدِيدَ الْمَخْلُوقَ عَلَى مِثَالِ اللهِ فِي البِرِّ وَالْقَدَاسَةِ بِالْحَقِّ.
25 لِذَلِكَ اخْلَعُوا عَنْكُمُ الْكَذِبَ، وَتَكَلَّمُوا بِالصِّدْقِ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مَعَ قَرِيبِهِ، لأَنَّنَا أَعْضَاءُ بَعْضُنَا لِبَعْضٍ. 26 إِنْ غَضِبْتُمْ، فَلا تُخْطِئُوا؛ لَا تَدَعُوا الشَّمْسَ تَغِيبُ وَأَنْتُمْ غَاضِبُونَ، 27 وَلا تُتِيحُوا فُرْصَةً لإِبْلِيسَ! 28 وَمَنْ كَانَ سَارِقاً، فَلا يَسْرِقْ فِي مَا بَعْدُ، بَلْ بِالأَحْرَى لِيَكِدَّ وَيَسْتَخْدِمْ يَدَيْهِ فِي عَمَلٍ شَرِيفٍ لِيَكُونَ عِنْدَهُ مَا يُشَارِكُ فِيهِ الْمُحْتَاجِينَ. 29 لَا تَخْرُجْ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِكُمْ كَلِمَةٌ فَاسِدَةٌ، بَلِ الْكَلامُ الصَّالِحُ لِلْبُنْيَانِ الَّذِي تَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ الْحَاجَةُ، كَيْ يُعْطِيَ السَّامِعِينَ نِعْمَةً. 30 وَلا تُحْزِنُوا رُوحَ اللهِ، الرُّوحَ الْقُدُسَ الَّذِي بِهِ خُتِمْتُمْ لِيَوْمِ الْفِدَاءِ. 31 انْزِعُوا عَنْكُمْ كُلَّ حِقْدٍ وَنَقْمَةٍ وَغَضَبٍ وَصَخَبٍ وَسُبَابٍ وَكَلَّ شَرٍّ. 32 وَكُونُوا لُطَفَاءَ بَعْضُكُمْ نَحْوَ بَعْضٍ، شَفُوقِينَ، مُسَامِحِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً كَمَا سَامَحَكُمُ اللهُ فِي الْمَسِيحِ.

Appello all'unità
4 Vi esorto dunque io, il prigioniero nel Signore, a comportarvi in maniera degna della vocazione che avete ricevuto, 2 con ogni umiltà, mansuetudine e pazienza, sopportandovi a vicenda con amore, 3 cercando di conservare l'unità dello spirito per mezzo del vincolo della pace. 4 Un solo corpo, un solo spirito, come una sola è la speranza alla quale siete stati chiamati, quella della vostra vocazione; 5 un solo Signore, una sola fede, un solo battesimo. 6 Un solo Dio Padre di tutti, che è al di sopra di tutti, agisce per mezzo di tutti ed è presente in tutti.
7 A ciascuno di noi, tuttavia, è stata data la grazia secondo la misura del dono di Cristo. 8 Per questo sta scritto:
Ascendendo in cielo ha portato con sé prigionieri,
ha distribuito doni agli uomini.
9 Ma che significa la parola «ascese», se non che prima era disceso quaggiù sulla terra? 10 Colui che discese è lo stesso che anche ascese al di sopra di tutti i cieli, per riempire tutte le cose.
11 E' lui che ha stabilito alcuni come apostoli, altri come profeti, altri come evangelisti, altri come pastori e maestri, 12 per rendere idonei i fratelli a compiere il ministero, al fine di edificare il corpo di Cristo, 13 finché arriviamo tutti all'unità della fede e della conoscenza del Figlio di Dio, allo stato di uomo perfetto, nella misura che conviene alla piena maturità di Cristo. 14 Questo affinchè non siamo più come fanciulli sballottati dalle onde e portati qua e là da qualsiasi vento di dottrina, secondo l'inganno degli uomini, con quella loro astuzia che tende a trarre nell'errore. 15 Al contrario, vivendo secondo la verità nella carità, cerchiamo di crescere in ogni cosa verso di lui, che è il capo, Cristo, 16 dal quale tutto il corpo, ben compaginato e connesso, mediante la collaborazione di ogni giuntura, secondo l'energia propria di ogni membro, riceve forza per crescere in modo da edificare se stesso nella carità.
La vita nuova nel Cristo
17 Vi dico dunque e vi scongiuro nel Signore: non comportatevi più come i pagani nella vanità della loro mente, 18 accecati nei loro pensieri, estranei alla vita di Dio a causa dell'ignoranza che è in loro, e per la durezza del loro cuore. 19 Diventati così insensibili, si sono abbandonati alla dissolutezza, commettendo ogni sorta di impurità con avidità insaziabile.
20 Ma voi non così avete imparato a conoscere Cristo, 21 se proprio gli avete dato ascolto e in lui siete stati istruiti, secondo la verità che è in Gesù, 22 per la quale dovete deporre l'uomo vecchio con la condotta di prima, l'uomo che si corrompe dietro le passioni ingannatrici 23 e dovete rinnovarvi nello spirito della vostra mente 24 e rivestire l'uomo nuovo, creato secondo Dio nella giustizia e nella santità vera. 25 Perciò, bando alla menzogna: dite ciascuno la verità al proprio prossimo; perché siamo membra gli uni degli altri. 26 Nell'ira, non peccate; non tramonti il sole sopra la vostra ira, 27 e non date occasione al diavolo. 28 Chi è avvezzo a rubare non rubi più, anzi si dia da fare lavorando onestamente con le proprie mani, per farne parte a chi si trova in necessità. 29 Nessuna parola cattiva esca più dalla vostra bocca; ma piuttosto, parole buone che possano servire per la necessaria edificazione, giovando a quelli che ascoltano. 30 E non vogliate rattristare lo Spirito Santo di Dio, col quale foste segnati per il giorno della redenzione.
31 Scompaia da voi ogni asprezza, sdegno, ira, clamore e maldicenza con ogni sorta di malignità. 32 Siate invece benevoli gli uni verso gli altri, misericordiosi, perdonandovi a vicenda come Dio ha perdonato a voi in Cristo.

4 Io dunque, il prigioniero per il Signore, vi esorto a camminare nel modo degno della vocazione a cui siete stati chiamati,
2 con ogni umiltà e mansuetudine, con pazienza, sopportandovi gli uni gli altri nell'amore,
3 studiandovi di conservare l'unità dello Spirito nel vincolo della pace.
4 Vi è un unico corpo e un unico Spirito, come pure siete stati chiamati nell'unica speranza della vostra vocazione.
5 Vi è un unico Signore, un'unica fede, un unico battesimo,
6 un Dio unico e Padre di tutti, che è al di sopra di tutti, fra tutti e in voi tutti.
7 Ma a ciascuno di noi è stata data la grazia secondo la misura del dono di Cristo.
8 Per la qual cosa la Scrittura dice: «Essendo salito in alto, egli ha condotto prigioniera la prigionia e ha dato dei doni agli uomini».
9 Or questo: «E' salito» che cosa vuol dire se non che prima era pure disceso nelle parti piú basse della terra?
10 Colui che è disceso è lo stesso che è anche salito al di sopra di tutti i cieli per riempire tutte le cose.
11 Ed egli stesso ha dato alcuni come apostoli, altri come profeti, altri come evangelisti e altri come pastori e dottori,
12 per il perfezionamento dei santi, per l'opera del ministero e per l'edificazione del corpo di Cristo,
13 finché giungiamo tutti all'unità della fede e della conoscenza del Figlio di Dio a un uomo perfetto, alla misura della statura della pienezza di Cristo
14 affinché non siamo piú bambini sballottati e trasportati da ogni vento di dottrina, per la frode degli uomini, per la loro astuzia, mediante gli inganni dell'errore,
15 ma dicendo la verità con amore, cresciamo in ogni cosa verso colui che è il capo, cioè Cristo.
16 Dal quale tutto il corpo ben connesso e unito insieme, mediante il contributo fornito da ogni giuntura e secondo il vigore di ogni singola parte, produce la crescita del corpo per l'edificazione di se stesso nell'amore.
17 Questo dunque attesto nel Signore, che non camminiate piú come camminano ancora gli altri gentili, nella vanità della loro mente,
18 ottenebrati nell'intelletto, estranei alla vita di Dio, per l'ignoranza che è in loro e per l'indurimento del loro cuore.
19 Essi, essendo diventati insensibili, si sono abbandonati alla dissolutezza, commettendo ogni impurità con insaziabile bramosia.
20 Voi però non è cosí che avete conosciuto Cristo,
21 se pure gli avete dato ascolto e siete stati ammaestrati in lui secondo la verità che è in Gesú
22 per spogliarvi, per quanto riguarda la condotta di prima, dell'uomo vecchio che si corrompe per mezzo delle concupiscenze della seduzione,
23 per essere rinnovati nello spirito della vostra mente,
24 e per essere rivestiti dell'uomo nuovo, creato secondo Dio nella giustizia e santità della verità.
25 Perciò, messa da parte la menzogna ciascuno dica la verità al suo prossimo perché siamo membra gli uni degli altri.
26 Adiratevi e non peccate; il sole non tramonti sul vostro cruccio;
27 e non date luogo al diavolo.
28 Chi rubava non rubi piú, ma piuttosto si affatichi facendo qualche buona opera con le proprie mani, affinché abbia qualcosa da dare a chi è nel bisogno.
29 Nessuna parola malvagia esca dalla vostra bocca, ma se ne avete una buona per l'edificazione, secondo il bisogno, ditela affinché conferisca grazia a quelli che ascoltano.
30 E non contristate lo Spirito Santo di Dio, col quale siete stati sigillati per il giorno della redenzione.
31 Sia rimossa da voi ogni amarezza, ira, cruccio, tumulto e maldicenza con ogni malizia.
32 Siate invece benigni e misericordiosi gli uni verso gli altri, perdonandovi a vicenda, come anche Dio vi ha perdonato in Cristo.

4 فِي ضَوْءِ هَذَا، أحُثُّكُمْ أنَا الأسِيرُ مِنْ أجْلِ الرَّبِّ، أنْ تَسْلُكُوا كَمَا يَلِيقُ بِالدَّعوَةِ الَّتِي تَلَقَّيتُمُوهَا مِنَ اللهِ. 2 أظهِرُوا فِي كُلِّ ظَرفٍ تَوَاضُعًا وَوَدَاعَةً وَصَبرًا، مُحتَمِلِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا فِي المَحَبَّةِ. 3 لَا تَبْخَلُوا بِأيِّ جَهْدٍ لِلمُحَافَظَةِ عَلَى الوِحدَةِ الَّتِي يَصْنَعُهَا الرُّوحُ بِالسَّلَامِ الَّذِي يَرْبِطُكُمْ مَعًا. 4 إذْ يُوجَدُ جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ وَرُوحٌ وَاحِدٌ، كَمَا دُعِيتُمْ أيْضًا فِي رَجَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ عِنْدَمَا دُعِيتُمْ. 5 يُوجَدُ رَبٌّ وَاحِدٌ، وَإيمَانٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَمَعمُودِيَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ. 6 يُوجَدُ إلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَآبٌ وَاحِدٌ لِلكُلِّ، وَهُوَ سَيِّدُ الكُلِّ، وَيستَخْدِمُ الكُلَّ، وَهُوَ فِي الكُلِّ.
7 وَقَدْ أُعْطِيَتْ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا مَوهِبَةٌ بِالمِقيَاسِ الَّذِي يَشَاؤُهُ المَسِيحُ. 8 لِهَذَا يَقُولُ الكِتَابُ:
«عِنْدَمَا صَعِدَ إلَى الأعَالِي،
سَبَى غَنِيمَةً،
وَأعْطَى النَّاسَ عَطَايَا.»[a]
9 فَمَا الَّذِي يَعْنِيهِ الكِتَابُ بِقَولِهِ «صَعِدَ»؟ ألَا يَعْنِي هَذَا أيْضًا أنَّهُ نَزَلَ إلَى المَنَاطِقِ الأرْضِيَّةِ السُّفلَى؟ 10 فَالَّذِي نَزَلَ هُوَ ذَاتُهُ الَّذِي صَعِدَ أعْلَى مِنْ كُلِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ، لِكَي يَمْلأَ كُلَّ شَيءٍ. 11 وَهُوَ نَفْسُهُ أعْطَى بَعْضَ المُؤمِنينَ أنْ يَكُونُوا رُسُلًا، وَآخَرِينَ أنْبِيَاءَ، وَآخَرِينَ مُبَشِّرِينَ، وَآخَرِينَ رُعَاةً مُعَلِّمِينَ. 12 وَقَدْ أعْطَى هَذِهِ المَوَاهِبَ لِكَي يُعِدَّ المُؤمِنِينَ لِعَمَلِ الخِدْمَةِ مِنْ أجْلِ بِنَاءِ جَسَدِ المَسِيحِ، 13 إلَى أنْ نَتَوَحَّدَ جَمِيعًا فِي إيمَانِنَا وَفِي مَعْرِفَتِنَا بِابْنِ اللهِ، وَنَنضُجَ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ إلَى أنْ نَصِلَ إلَى شِبهِ المَسِيحِ الكَامِلِ.
14 وَإنَّنِي لأرْجُو أنْ لَا نَكُونَ فِيمَا بَعْدُ أطْفَالًا نَنجَرِفُ مَعَ كُلِّ نَوعٍ مِنَ التَّعَالِيمِ الَّتِي يَأتِي بِهَا أُنَاسٌ مَاكِرُونَ، وَنَقَعُ فَرِيسَةً لِمَصَائِدِهِمُ المُخَادِعَةِ. 15 بَلْ يَنْبَغِي أنْ نَتَكَلَّمَ بِالحَقِّ فِي المَحَبَّةِ، وَنَنمُو لِنَكُونَ مِثْلَ المَسِيحِ فِي كُلِّ شَيءٍ. فَالمَسِيحُ هُوَ الرَّأسُ. 16 وَالجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ مُعتَمِدٌ عَلَيْهِ، وَهُوَ مُتَّصِلٌ بَعْضُهُ بِبَعْضٍ وَمُتَمَاسِكٌ بِمَفَاصِلَ. وَحِينَ يَقُومُ كُلُّ جُزءٍ بِوَظِيفَتِهِ، فَإنَّ الجَسَدَ كُلَّهُ يَنْمُو، وَيَبْنِي نَفْسَهُ فِي المَحَبَّةِ.
السُّلُوكُ المَسِيحِيّ
17 أقُولُ لَكُمْ هَذَا بِسُلطَانِ اسْمِ الرَّبِّ: لَا تَسْلُكُوا كَمَا يَسْلُكُ غَيْرُ المُؤمِنِينَ بِأفكَارِهِمُ العَقِيمَةِ. 18 فَأفكَارُهُمْ مُظلِمَةٌ، وَهُمْ مُنفَصِلُونَ عَنِ الحَيَاةِ النَّابِعَةِ مِنَ اللهِ بِسَبَبِ جَهلِهِمْ وَعَدَمِ تَجَاوُبِهِمْ مَعَ صَوْتِهِ. 19 فَقَدُوا إحْسَاسَهُمْ بِالخَجَلِ، وَانْجَرَفُوا بِإرَادَتِهِمْ وَرَاءَ الشَّهَوَاتِ الحِسِّيَّةِ وَمُمَارَسَةِ كُلِّ نَجَاسَةٍ دُونَ تَحَفُّظٍ. 20 أمَّا أنْتُمْ فَلَمْ تَتَعَلَّمُوا المَسِيحَ هَكَذَا. 21 لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُمْ عَنْهُ وَتَعَلَّمتُمُ الحَقَّ فِيهِ، كَمَا هُوَ فِي يَسُوعَ.
22 أمَّا بِالنِّسبَةِ لأُسلُوبِ حَيَاتِكُمُ القَدِيمِ، فَقَدْ عُلِّمتُمْ أنْ تَتَخَلَّصُوا مِنَ الذَّاتِ القَدِيمَةِ الَّتِي تُفسِدُهَا الرَّغَبَاتُ الخَادِعَةُ. 23 وَكَمَا تَعَلَّمْتُمْ، تَتَجَدَّدُوا فِكرًا وَرُوحًا. 24 وَأُوصِيتُمْ بِأنْ تَلْبَسُوا الذَّاتَ الجَدِيدَةَ المَخْلُوقَةَ عَلَى شَبَهِ اللهِ فِي حُبِّهَا لِلبِرِّ وَالقَدَاسَةِ، النَّابِعَيْنِ مِنَ الحَقِّ. 25 فَتَخَلَّصُوا مِنْ لِسَانِ الكَذِبِ! فَعَلَى كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ أنْ يَكُونَ صَادِقًا مَعَ الآخَرِينَ، لِأنَّنَا كُلَّنَا أعضَاءٌ فِي جَسَدٍ وَاحِدٍ.
26 لَا تَجْعَلُوا غَضَبَكُمْ يَجُرُّكُمْ إلَى الخَطِيَّةِ. وَلَا تَنَامُوا غَاضِبِينَ. 27 لَا تُعطُوا إبْلِيسَ مَجَالًا. 28 لِيَكُفَّ مَنْ يَسْرِقُ عَنِ السَّرِقَةِ، بَلْ لِيَتْعَبْ وَيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا نَافِعًا بِيَدَيهِ، لِكَي يَكُونَ لَديهِ مَا يُعطِيهِ للآخَرِينَ.
29 لَا تَخْرُجْ كَلِمَاتٌ غَيْرُ لَائِقَةٍ مِنْ أفوَاهِكُمْ، بَلْ فَقَطْ مَا يَصْلُحُ لِبِنَاءِ الآخَرِينَ، حَسَبَ الحَاجَةِ، وَلِفَائِدَةِ السَّامِعِينَ. 30 وَلَا تُواصِلُوا إحزَانَ رُوحِ اللهِ القُدُّوسِ، فَهُوَ الَّذِي بِهِ خُتِمْتُمْ مَملُوكِينَ للهِ حَتَّى يَوْمِ الفِدَاءِ النِّهَائِيِّ. 31 انزَعُوا مِنْ دَاخِلِكُمْ كُلَّ مَرَارَةٍ وَسَخَطٍ وَغَضَبٍ وَصِيَاحٍ وَإهَانَةٍ وَكُلَّ خُبْثٍ. 32 كُونُوا لُطَفَاءَ وَشَفُوقِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ نَحْوَ بَعْضٍ، مُسْتَعِدِّينَ لِمُسَامَحَةِ الآخَرِينَ، كَمَا سَامَحَكُمُ اللهُ أيْضًا فِي المَسِيحِ.

Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ
4 As a prisoner(A) for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy(B) of the calling(C) you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another(D) in love.(E) 3 Make every effort to keep the unity(F) of the Spirit through the bond of peace.(G) 4 There is one body(H) and one Spirit,(I) just as you were called to one hope when you were called(J); 5 one Lord,(K) one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all,(L) who is over all and through all and in all.(M)
7 But to each one of us(N) grace(O) has been given(P) as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it[a] says:
9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions[c]? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended(S) higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)(T) 11 So Christ himself gave(U) the apostles,(V) the prophets,(W) the evangelists,(X) the pastors and teachers,(Y) 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ(Z) may be built up(AA) 13 until we all reach unity(AB) in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God(AC) and become mature,(AD) attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.(AE)
14 Then we will no longer be infants,(AF) tossed back and forth by the waves,(AG) and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.(AH) 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love,(AI) we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head,(AJ) that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows(AK) and builds itself up(AL) in love,(AM) as each part does its work.
Instructions for Christian Living
17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer(AN) live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.(AO) 18 They are darkened in their understanding(AP) and separated from the life of God(AQ) because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.(AR) 19 Having lost all sensitivity,(AS) they have given themselves over(AT) to sensuality(AU) so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off(AV) your old self,(AW) which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;(AX) 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;(AY) 24 and to put on(AZ) the new self,(BA) created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.(BB)
25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully(BC) to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.(BD) 26 “In your anger do not sin”[d]:(BE) Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.(BF) 28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work,(BG) doing something useful with their own hands,(BH) that they may have something to share with those in need.(BI)
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,(BJ) but only what is helpful for building others up(BK) according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,(BL) with whom you were sealed(BM) for the day of redemption.(BN) 31 Get rid of(BO) all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.(BP) 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another,(BQ) forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.(BR)
