Job’s Repentance and Restoration
42 Then Job answered the Lord and said:
2 “I know that You (A)can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
3 You asked, (B)‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
(C)Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4 Listen, please, and let me speak;
You said, (D)‘I will question you, and you shall answer Me.’
5 “I have (E)heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
6 Therefore I (F)abhor[a] myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”
7 And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. 8 Now therefore, take for yourselves (G)seven bulls and seven rams, (H)go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall (I)pray for you. For I will accept [b]him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had [c]accepted Job. 10 (J)And the Lord [d]restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job (K)twice as much as he had before. 11 Then (L)all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.
12 Now the Lord blessed (M)the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had (N)fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. 13 (O)He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 And he called the name of the first [e]Jemimah, the name of the second [f]Keziah, and the name of the third [g]Keren-Happuch. 15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
16 After this Job (P)lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. 17 So Job died, old and (Q)full of days.

42 Entonces Job respondió al Señor, y dijo:
2 Yo sé que tú puedes hacer todas las cosas(A),
y que ningún propósito tuyo puede ser estorbado.
3 «¿Quién es este que oculta el consejo sin entendimiento(B)?».
Por tanto, he declarado lo que no comprendía,
cosas demasiado maravillosas para mí(C), que yo no sabía.
4 «Escucha ahora, y hablaré;
te preguntaré y tú me instruirás(D)».
5 He sabido de ti solo de oídas(E),
pero ahora mis ojos te ven(F).
6 Por eso me retracto,
y me arrepiento en polvo y ceniza.
7 Y sucedió que después que el Señor habló estas palabras a Job, el Señor dijo a Elifaz temanita: Se ha encendido mi ira contra ti y contra tus dos amigos, porque no habéis hablado de mí lo que es recto, como mi siervo Job(G). 8 Ahora pues, tomad siete novillos y siete carneros(H), id a mi siervo Job y ofreced holocausto(I) por vosotros, y mi siervo Job orará por vosotros(J). Porque ciertamente a él atenderé[a] para no hacer con vosotros conforme a vuestra insensatez(K), porque no habéis hablado de mí lo que es recto, como mi siervo Job. 9 Y Elifaz temanita y Bildad suhita y Zofar naamatita fueron e hicieron tal como el Señor les había dicho; y el Señor aceptó a[b] Job.
10 Y el Señor restauró el bienestar de Job cuando este oró por sus amigos; y el Señor aumentó al doble todo lo que Job había poseído(L). 11 Entonces todos sus hermanos y todas sus hermanas y todos los que le habían conocido antes(M), vinieron a él y comieron pan con él en su casa; se condolieron de él y lo consolaron(N) por todo el mal que el Señor había traído sobre él. Cada uno le dio una moneda de plata[c], y cada uno un anillo de oro. 12 El Señor bendijo los últimos días de Job más que los primeros[d](O); y tuvo catorce mil ovejas, seis mil camellos, mil yuntas de bueyes y mil asnas(P). 13 Y tuvo siete hijos y tres hijas(Q). 14 Llamó a la primera Jemina, a la segunda Cesia y a la tercera Keren-hapuc. 15 Y en toda la tierra no se encontraban mujeres tan hermosas como las hijas de Job; y su padre les dio herencia entre sus hermanos. 16 Después de esto vivió Job ciento cuarenta años, y vio a sus hijos y a los hijos de sus hijos, hasta cuatro generaciones. 17 Y murió Job, anciano y lleno de días(R).

42 Da antwortete Hiob dem Herrn und sprach:
2 Ich erkenne, daß du alles kannst
und kein Plan dir unausführbar ist.
3 Wer ist's, der den Ratschluß [Gottes] verdunkelt mit seinem Unverstand?
Fürwahr, ich habe geredet, was ich nicht verstehe,
was mir zu wunderbar ist und ich nicht begreifen kann!
4 „Höre nun, ich will reden;
ich will dich fragen,, lehre mich!“
5 Vom Hörensagen hatte ich von dir gehört,
aber nun sehe ich dich mit meinen Augen;
6 darum widerrufe ich
und will im Staube und in der Asche Buße tun.
Hiob bittet für seine Freunde und kommt zu neuem Wohlstand
7 Als nun der Herr diese Reden an Hiob vollendet hatte, sprach der Herr zu Eliphas, dem Temaniter: Mein Zorn ist entbrannt über dich und deine beiden Freunde, denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet, wie mein Knecht Hiob. 8 So nehmt nun sieben Farren und sieben Widder und geht zu meinem Knecht Hiob und bringt sie als Brandopfer dar für euch selbst; mein Knecht Hiob aber soll für euch bitten; denn nur seine Person will ich ansehen, daß ich gegen euch nicht nach eurer Torheit handle; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.
9 Da gingen Eliphas, der Temaniter, und Bildad, der Schuchiter, und Zophar, der Naamatiter, und taten, wie der Herr ihnen befohlen hatte. Und der Herr sah Hiob an.
10 Und der Herr wandte Hiobs Gefangenschaft[a], als er für seine
Freunde bat; und der Herr erstattete Hiob alles doppelt wieder, was er gehabt.
11 Es kamen auch zu Hiob alle seine Brüder und alle seine Schwestern und alle seine frühern Bekannten und aßen mit ihm in seinem Hause und bezeugten ihm Teilnahme und trösteten ihn ob all dem Unglück, das der Herr über ihn gebracht hatte, und schenkten ihm ein jeder eine Münze und einen goldenen Ring.
12 Und der Herr segnete das spätere Leben Hiobs mehr als sein früheres; er bekam 14,000 Schafe, 6000 Kamele, 1000 Joch Rinder und 1000 Eselinnen. 13 Er bekam auch sieben Söhne und drei Töchter. 14 Die erste hieß er Jemima, die zweite Kezia und die dritte Keren-Happuch. 15 Und es wurden im ganzen Lande keine so schönen Weiber gefunden wie Hiobs Töchter; und ihr Vater gab ihnen ein Erbteil unter ihren Brüdern.
16 Hiob aber lebte darnach noch 140 Jahre und sah seine Kinder und Kindeskinder bis in das vierte Geschlecht. 17 Und Hiob starb alt und lebenssatt.
