바룩에 대한 하나님의 말씀
45 요시야의 아들인 유다의 여호야김왕 4년에 네리야의 아들 바룩이 내
2 가 불러 준 모든 말을 책에 기록하였는데 그때 나는 바룩에게 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다고 일러 주었다.
3 “바룩아, 너는 ‘아, 괴롭다. 여호와께서 나의 고통에 슬픔까지 더하셨으니 내가 탄식하다가 지쳐 평안을 얻지 못하는구나’ 하였다.
4 보라, 나 여호와는 온 땅에서 내가 세운 것을 헐고 내가 심은 것을 모조리 뽑아 버리겠다.
5 네가 네 자신을 위해서 큰 일을 추구하느냐? 너는 그런 것을 추구하지 말아라. 내가 모든 백성에게 재앙을 내리겠다. 그러나 네가 어디로 가든지 네 목숨만은 살아 남을 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.”

45 유다 왕 요시아의 아들 여호야김 사년[a]에, 예언자 예레미야가 불러주는 말씀을 네리야의 아들 바룩이 두루마리에 받아 적은 뒤에, 예레미야가 바룩에게 이렇게 말하였다. 2 “주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 그대 바룩에게 하시는 말씀이오. 3 그대는 전에 ‘아, 가련한 내 신세여! 주께서 내 고통에 슬픔을 더하셨다. 나는 탄식으로 지쳤고 마음 편할 일이 없구나!’ 라고 말했습니다. 4 주께서 그대에게 전하라고 하시는 말씀입니다. ‘나 주가 하는 말이다. 나는 온 세상에서 내가 세운 것을 부수고 내가 심은 것을 뽑아버릴 것이다. 5 네가 큰일을 꾀하고 있느냐? 그만 두어라. 내가 모든 사람에게 재앙을 내릴 것이기 때문이다. 나 주가 말한다. 그러나 네가 어디로 가든지 너의 목숨만은 지켜주겠다.’”

A Message to Baruch
45 When Baruch(A) son of Neriah(B) wrote on a scroll(C) the words Jeremiah the prophet dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim(D) son of Josiah king of Judah, Jeremiah said this to Baruch: 2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3 You said, ‘Woe(E) to me! The Lord has added sorrow(F) to my pain;(G) I am worn out with groaning(H) and find no rest.’(I) 4 But the Lord has told me to say to you, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot(J) what I have planted,(K) throughout the earth.(L) 5 Should you then seek great(M) things for yourself? Do not seek them.(N) For I will bring disaster(O) on all people,(P) declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape(Q) with your life.’”(R)

45 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch:
3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.
5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
