예루살렘에 대한 여호와의 분노
2 아, 슬프다! 여호와께서 시온을 분노의 구름으로 덮어 버리셨구나. 그가 이스 라엘의 영광을 하늘에서 땅으로 던지시고 분노하신 날에 그 [a]성전도 기억하지 않으셨다.
2 여호와께서 이스라엘의 모든 집을 아낌없이 쓸어 버리시고 그의 분노로 유다의 견고한 성을 헐어 바닥까지 무너져내리게 하셨으며 그 나라와 지도자들을 욕되게 하셨네.
3 그가 무서운 분노로 이스라엘의 모든 힘을 꺾어 버리셨으며 원수가 접근할 때 도움의 손을 거두시고 맹렬한 불로 이스라엘 땅을 모조리 태우셨네.
4 그가 원수처럼 활을 당겨 아름답게 보이는 자들을 모조리 죽이셨으며 예루살렘에 그의 분노를 불처럼 쏟으셨다.
5 여호와께서 원수처럼 이스라엘을 삼키셨으니 모든 궁전을 삼키고 요새를 파괴하셔서 유다 백성에게 슬픔과 탄식을 더하셨다.
6 여호와께서 성전을 정원의 초막처럼 허시고 그 모이는 장소를 파괴하셨으며 시온이 명절과 안식일을 잊게 하시고 분노하심으로 왕과 제사장을 멸시하셨다.
7 여호와께서 자기 제단을 거절하시고 자기 성소를 버리셨으며 궁전의 담을 원수들에게 맡겨 헐게 하시고 그들이 성전에서 명절날처럼 떠들어대게 하셨네.
8 여호와께서 시온의 성벽을 헐기로 작정하시고 측량줄을 갖다 댄 채 무너지게 하시므로 망대와 성벽이 통곡하며 폐허로 변하고 말았다.
9 그 성문이 땅에 묻히고 빗장은 꺾여 파괴되었으며 왕과 대신들이 이방 나라로 끌려갔으니 이제는 율법도 없고 예언자들은 여호와의 계시를 받지 못하는구나.
10 시온의 장로들은 아무 말 없이 땅에 주저앉아 티끌을 머리에 뒤집어쓰고 굵은 삼베 옷을 입었으며 예루살렘 처녀들은 땅으로 머리를 떨구었다.
11 내가 울다가 눈이 피로해졌으며 내 영혼이 속에서 번민하고 내 심장은 땅에 쏟아졌으니 내 백성이 멸망하여 어린 아이들과 젖먹이들이 길거리에서 기절함이라.
12 그들이 부상당한 자처럼 길거리에 쓰러지고 어머니의 품에서 서서히 죽어 가며 [b]먹을 것을 달라고 애원하는구나.
13 예루살렘아, 내가 너를 위해 무슨 말을 하며 네 슬픔을 어디에 비할 수 있겠는가? 시온아, 내가 너를 무엇에 비교하여 너를 위로할까? 네 상처가 바다처럼 깊으니 누가 너를 고칠 수 있겠느냐?
14 네 예언자들이 너에게 한 예언은 다 거짓되고 쓸모없는 것들뿐이었으므로 그들은 네가 포로로 끌려가지 않도록 너를 경고하여 네 죄를 드러내지 못했으니 그들은 거짓되고 나쁜 길에 빠져들게 하는 환상만 보았음이라.
15 지나가는 자들이 다 너를 보고 머리를 흔들며 “이것이 아름답다던 성이냐? 이것이 천하의 자랑거리로 소문난 성이냐?” 하고 비웃고 있다.
16 너의 모든 원수들이 너를 향해 입을 벌려 조소하며 이를 갈고 “우리가 그를 삼켰다. 우리가 이 날을 기다려 왔더니 이제야 보게 되었다” 하는구나.
17 여호와께서는 작정하신 일을 행하시고 옛날에 선포하신 말씀을 이루셨다. 그가 너를 불쌍히 여기지 않으시고 너를 파멸시켜 원수들이 너를 보고 기뻐하며 그 힘을 자랑하도록 하셨다.
18 백성들이 여호와께 부르짖는 소리를 들어 보아라. “예루살렘의 성벽아, 너는 밤낮 눈물을 강물처럼 흘려라. 너는 쉬지 말고 계속 울며 슬퍼하여라.
19 “너는 초저녁부터 일어나 부르짖으며 네 마음을 여호와 앞에 물쏟듯 쏟아 놓아라. 너는 거리에서 굶주려 죽어 가는 네 어린 자녀들의 생명을 위하여 여호와께 손을 들고 부르짖어라.”
20 여호와여, 보소서. 주께서 누구에게 이처럼 행하셨습니까? 여자들이 자기가 키우는 자식을 잡아먹고 제사장들과 예언자들이 바로 성소에서 죽음을 당하고 있습니다!
21 젊은 자와 늙은 자가 함께 길바닥에 쓰러졌으며 처녀 총각들이 원수들의 칼날에 죽음을 당했으니 주는 분노하신 날에 저들을 불쌍히 여기지 않고 마구 죽이셨습니다.
22 명절날에 사람을 초대하듯이 주는 내 사방에 두려움을 불러들였습니다. 여호와께서 분노하신 날에 피하거나 살아 남은 자가 없습니다. 내가 보살피며 기르는 자들을 내 원수가 모조리 죽였습니다.

King James Version
2 How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!
2 The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he hath brought them down to the ground: he hath polluted the kingdom and the princes thereof.
3 He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.
4 He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.
5 The Lord was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.
6 And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the Lord hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
7 The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the Lord, as in the day of a solemn feast.
8 The Lord hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together.
9 Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the Lord.
10 The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, and keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
11 Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.
12 They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers' bosom.
13 What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?
14 Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.
15 All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?
16 All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.
17 The Lord hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy to rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries.
18 Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.
19 Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.
20 Behold, O Lord, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
21 The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine anger; thou hast killed, and not pitied.
22 Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the Lord's anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.

2 ¡Cómo el Señor nubló, en Su ira,
A la hija de Sión(A)!
Ha arrojado del cielo a la tierra(B)
La gloria de Israel(C),
Y no se ha acordado del estrado de Sus pies(D)
En el día de Su ira.
2 El Señor ha devorado, no ha perdonado(E)
Ninguna de las moradas de Jacob.
Ha derribado en Su furor
Las fortalezas de la hija de Judá(F),
Las ha echado por tierra(G);
Ha profanado al reino y a sus príncipes(H).
3 En el ardor de Su ira ha exterminado
Todas las fuerzas[a](I) de Israel;
Retiró Su diestra
En presencia del enemigo(J);
Y se ha encendido en Jacob como llamas de fuego
Devorando todo en derredor(K).
4 Ha entesado Su arco(L) como enemigo,
Ha afirmado Su diestra como adversario
Y ha matado todo lo que era agradable a la vista(M);
En la tienda de la hija de Sión
Ha derramado Su furor como fuego(N).
5 Se ha vuelto el Señor como enemigo(O):
Ha devorado a Israel,
Ha devorado todos sus palacios,
Ha destruido sus fortalezas
Y ha multiplicado en la hija de Judá(P)
El lamento y el duelo(Q).
6 Y ha tratado con violencia a Su tabernáculo, como a cabaña de huerto;
Ha destruido Su lugar de reunión(R).
El Señor ha hecho olvidar en Sión
La fiesta solemne y el día de reposo(S),
Y en el furor de Su ira ha rechazado
Al rey y al sacerdote(T).
7 El Señor ha rechazado Su altar,
Ha despreciado Su santuario;
Ha entregado en manos del enemigo(U)
Los muros de sus palacios(V).
Gritos se han dado en la casa del Señor(W)
Como en día de fiesta solemne.
8 El Señor determinó destruir
La muralla de la hija de Sión;
Ha extendido el cordel,
No ha retraído Su mano de destruir,
Y ha hecho que se lamenten el antemuro y el muro(X);
A una desfallecen(Y).
9 Se han hundido en la tierra sus puertas(Z),
Él ha destruido y quebrado sus cerrojos.
Su rey y sus príncipes están entre las naciones;
Ya no hay ley(AA);
Tampoco sus profetas hallan
Visión del Señor(AB).
10 Están sentados en tierra(AC), en silencio(AD),
Los ancianos de la hija de Sión.
Han echado polvo sobre sus cabezas(AE),
Se han ceñido de cilicio(AF).
Han inclinado a tierra sus cabezas
Las vírgenes de Jerusalén(AG).
11 Mis ojos se consumen por las lágrimas,
Hierven mis entrañas(AH);
Mi hiel se derrama por tierra(AI),
A causa de la destrucción[b] de la hija de mi pueblo[c](AJ),
Cuando niños y lactantes desfallecen
En las calles de la ciudad(AK).
12 Dicen a sus madres:
«¿Dónde hay grano y vino?».
Mientras desfallecen como heridos
En las calles de la ciudad(AL),
Mientras exhalan su espíritu
En el regazo de sus madres(AM).
13 ¿Cómo he de amonestarte(AN)?
¿A qué te compararé,
Hija de Jerusalén?
¿A qué te igualaré al consolarte,
Virgen hija de Sión(AO)?
Porque grande como el mar es tu ruina;
¿Quién te podrá sanar(AP)?
14 Tus profetas tuvieron para ti
Visiones falsas y necias(AQ),
Y no manifestaron tu iniquidad(AR)
Para que regresaras de tu cautiverio,
Sino que vieron para ti oráculos falsos y engañosos(AS).
15 Baten palmas contra ti
Todos los que pasan por el camino;
Silban(AT) y mueven sus cabezas
Contra la hija de Jerusalén, diciendo:
«¿Es esta la ciudad de la cual decían(AU):
“La perfección de la hermosura(AV),
El gozo de toda la tierra(AW)?”».
16 Han abierto su boca contra ti
Todos tus enemigos(AX);
Silban y rechinan los dientes(AY).
Dicen: «La hemos devorado(AZ).
Ciertamente este es el día que esperábamos(BA);
Lo hemos alcanzado, lo hemos visto».
17 El Señor ha hecho lo que se propuso(BB),
Ha cumplido Su palabra
Que había ordenado desde tiempos antiguos.
Ha derribado sin perdonar(BC),
Ha hecho que se alegre el enemigo sobre ti(BD),
Ha exaltado el poder de tus adversarios(BE).
18 El corazón de ellos clamó al Señor(BF):
«Muralla de la hija de Sión(BG),
Corran tus lágrimas como un río día y noche,
No te des reposo,
No tengan descanso tus ojos(BH).
19 -»Levántate, da voces en la noche
Al comenzar las vigilias(BI).
Derrama como agua tu corazón
Ante la presencia del Señor(BJ).
Alza hacia Él tus manos
Por la vida de tus pequeños,
Que desfallecen de hambre(BK)
En las esquinas de todas las calles(BL)».
20 Mira, oh Señor, y observa:
¿A quién has tratado así(BM)?
¿Habían de comerse las mujeres el fruto de sus entrañas(BN),
A los pequeños criados con cariño?
¿Habían de ser muertos en el santuario del Señor
El sacerdote y el profeta(BO)?
21 Yacen por tierra en las calles
Jóvenes y ancianos;
Mis vírgenes y mis mancebos
Han caído a espada(BP).
Has matado en el día de Tu ira,
Has hecho matanza, no has perdonado(BQ).
22 Como en día de fiesta solemne convocaste
Mis terrores de todas partes(BR);
Y no hubo en el día de la ira del Señor
Quien escapara(BS) ni sobreviviera(BT).
A los que crié y mantuve,
Mi enemigo los exterminó.
