8 정탐꾼들이 잠들기 전에 여인은 지붕 위로 올라가서 9 말하였다. “나는 주께서 이 땅을 당신들에게 주신 것을 압니다. 그리고 우리 모두가 당신들에 대한 두려움에 휩싸여 있다는 것과 이 땅에 살고 있는 모든 사람의 심장이 당신들에 대한 두려움으로 녹아내리고 있다는 것도 압니다. 10 우리는 당신들이 이집트에서 나올 때, 하나님께서 당신들을 위하여 어떻게 갈대바다의 물을 완전히 마르게 하셨는지 들었습니다. 그리고 당신들이 아모리 사람의 두 왕인, 시혼과 옥에게 어떻게 하였는지도 들었습니다. 당신들은 요단 강 동쪽에 있던 그 두 왕을 완전히 멸하였습니다.

8 그 정찰병들이 잠들기 전에 라합은 옥상으로 올라가 그들에게 말하였다.
9 “나는 당신들의 하나님이 이 땅을 이미 당신들에게 주신 줄로 압니다. 우리는 당신들을 두려운 존재로 여기고 있습니다. 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람들이 ‘이스라엘’ 이란 말만 들어도 무서워 떨고 있답니다.
10 우리는 당신들이 이집트를 탈출해 나오던 때에 여호와께서 당신들 앞에서 홍해 물을 말리셨다는 이야기를 들었어요. 어디 이뿐이겠습니까! 우리는 당신들이 요단 동쪽에 있는 두 아모리 왕, 시혼과 옥을 어떻게 처치했는지도 다 들었습니다.

8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof(A) 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear(B) of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up(C) the water of the Red Sea[a] for you when you came out of Egypt,(D) and what you did to Sihon and Og,(E) the two kings of the Amorites(F) east of the Jordan,(G) whom you completely destroyed.[b](H)
