온이스라엘의왕이된다윗
5 그때이스라엘모든지파의대표들 이 헤브론에 있는 다윗에게 와서 이 렇게말하였다. “우리는왕과핏줄을 같이한 형제들입니다.
2 사울이 우리의 왕이었을 때에도 전쟁 에서 이스라엘군을 지휘한 사람은 왕 이었습니다. 그리고 여호와께서도 왕 이 이스라엘의 목자와 통치자가 될 것 이라고말씀하셨습니다.”
3 그래서다윗이여호와앞에서이스라 엘의 지도자들과 그 곳 헤브론에서 계 약을 맺자 그들은 다윗에게 기름을 부 어 그를 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다.
4-5 다윗은 30세에 왕이 되어 약 40년 동안 다스렸는데 헤브론에서 7년 6개 월 동안 유다를 다스렸고 예루살렘에 서이스라엘과유다 33년동안다스 렸다.
다윗이 예루살렘을 점령함
6 다윗이 예루살렘에 사는 여부스 사람 들을치고자그의군대를이끌고올라 갔을 때 그들은 “네가 절대로 이리 들 어오지 못할 것이다. 장님이나 절뚝발 이라도너를막아낼수있다!” 하고큰 소리쳤다. 이것은자기들의성이침공 할 수 없을 만큼 튼튼하다고 생각했기 때문이었다.
7 그러나 다윗과 그의 군대는 그들을 공 격하여 시온 요새를 점령하였다. 지금 은그것이다윗성이라고불려지고있 다.
8 그 날 다윗은 여부스 사람의 모욕적인 말을 듣고 자기 병사들에게 “누구든지 여부스사람을치려고하는자는하수 구를 통해서 성으로 들어가 이 다윗이 미워하는 절뚝발이와 장님을 쳐라” 하 였다. 그래서 “장님과절뚝발이는 [a]여 호와의 집에 들어오지 못하리라” 는 속 담까지 생기게 되었다.
9 다윗은 그 요새를 점령하여 거기에 살 면서 그 곳 이름을 ‘다윗성’ 이라 부르 고 밀로에서부터 안쪽으로 빙 둘러 성 을 쌓았다.
10 이렇게해서다윗은점점강성해갔는 데 이것은 전능하신 하나님 여호와께 서 그와 함께하셨기 때문이었다.
11 그때 두로 왕 히람은 다윗에게 사절단 을 보내고 또 백향목과 목수와 석수들 을보내그를위해서궁전을짓게하 였다.
12 그래서다윗은여호와께서자기를이 스라엘의 왕으로 세우신 것과 그의 백 성 이스라엘을 위해 그의 나라를 크게 높이신것을알게되었다.
13 다윗은헤브론에서예루살렘으로옮 긴후에더많은아내와첩을거느렸 으므로 그들에게서 많은 자녀들이 태 어났다.
14-16 예루살렘에서태어난그의자녀들 은 삼무아, 소밥, 나단, 솔로몬, 입할, 엘 리수아, 네벡, 야비아, 엘리사마, 엘랴 다, 그리고엘리벨렛이었다.
다윗이 블레셋군을 격퇴함
17 블레셋사람들은다윗이이스라엘의 왕이 되었다는 말을 듣고 그를 잡으려 고 올라왔다. 그러나 다윗은 그들이 온다는 것을 알고 요새로 들어갔다.
18 이때블레셋사람들은르바임골짜기 에 도착하여 그 곳을 완전히 장악하고 있었다.
19 그래서다윗은여호와께 “내가나가서 블레셋 사람들과 싸울까요? 주께서 저 들을 내 손에 넘겨 주시겠습니까?” 하 고물었다. 그러자여호와께서는 “좋 다. 나가서 싸워라. 내가 그들을 네 손 에 넘겨 주겠다” 하고 대답하셨다.
20 그래서 다윗은 나가 바알-브라심에 서 그들과 싸워 격퇴하고 이렇게 외쳤 다. “여호와께서 물을 쳐서 흩어 버리 듯이내앞에서내대적을쳐서흩어 버리셨구나!” 그렇게 해서 그 곳 이름 을 [b]‘바알-브라심’ 이라고 불렀다.
21 블레셋 사람들이 그 곳에 자기들의 우 상을 버리고 도망갔으므로 다윗과 그 의 군대는 그 우상들을 치워 버렸다.
22 그러나 블레셋군은 르바임 골짜기로 다시 돌아와서 그 곳에 포진하고 있었 다.
23 이때 다윗이 어떻게 해야 좋을지 여호 와께 묻자 그가 이렇게 대답하셨다. “정면 공격을 피하고 그들 뒤로 돌아 가뽕나무숲근처에서공격태세를 취하고 있다가
24 뽕나무 꼭대기에서 행군하는 발자국 소리가 들리거든 너는 즉시 공격을 개 시하라! 이것은 나 여호와가 너보다 앞서가서블레셋군을치겠다는신호 이다.”
25 그래서 다윗은 여호와께서 명령하신 대로게바에서게셀에이르기까지줄 곧블레셋군을쳐서격퇴시켰다.

David Reigns over All Israel(A)
5 Then all the tribes of Israel (B)came to David at Hebron and spoke, saying, “Indeed (C)we are your bone and your flesh. 2 Also, in time past, when Saul was king over us, (D)you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in; and the Lord said to you, (E)‘You shall shepherd My people Israel, and be ruler over Israel.’ ” 3 (F)Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, (G)and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron (H)before the Lord. And they anointed David king over Israel. 4 David was (I)thirty years old when he began to reign, and (J)he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah (K)seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
The Conquest of Jerusalem(L)
6 (M)And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against (N)the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.” 7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (O)(that is, the City of David).
8 Now David said on that day, “Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul), (P)he shall be chief and captain.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.”
9 Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it (Q)the City of David. And David built all around from [a]the Millo and inward. 10 So David went on and became great, and (R)the Lord God of hosts was with (S)him.
11 Then (T)Hiram (U)king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters and masons. And they built David a house. 12 So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that He had (V)exalted His kingdom (W)for the sake of His people Israel.
13 And (X)David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron. Also more sons and daughters were born to David. 14 Now (Y)these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: [b]Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, (Z)Solomon, 15 Ibhar, [c]Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, 16 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.
The Philistines Defeated(AA)
17 (AB)Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it (AC)and went down to the stronghold. 18 The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in (AD)the Valley of Rephaim. 19 So David (AE)inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
20 So David went to (AF)Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place [d]Baal Perazim. 21 And they left their [e]images there, and David and his men (AG)carried them away.
22 (AH)Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. 23 Therefore (AI)David inquired of the Lord, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 24 And it shall be, when you (AJ)hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then (AK)the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” 25 And David did so, as the Lord commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from (AL)Geba[f] as far as (AM)Gezer.

David Anointed King of Israel
5 Then all the tribes of Israel (A)came to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, (B)we are your bone and flesh. 2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, (C)it was you who led out and brought in Israel. And the Lord said to you, (D)‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince[a] over Israel.’” 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, (E)and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron (F)before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel. 4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and (G)he reigned forty years. 5 (H)At Hebron he reigned over Judah (I)seven years and six months, and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.[b]

David Defeats the Philistines
17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. But David heard of it and went down (S)to the stronghold. 18 Now the Philistines had come and spread out in (T)the Valley of Rephaim. 19 And David (U)inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will certainly give the Philistines into your hand.” 20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. And he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like a breaking flood.” (V)Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.[c] 21 And the Philistines left their idols there, and David and his men carried them away.
22 And the Philistines came up yet again (W)and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. 23 (X)And when David inquired of the Lord, he said, “You shall not go up; go around to their rear, and come against them opposite the balsam trees. 24 And (Y)when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then rouse yourself, (Z)for then the Lord has gone out before you to strike down the army of the Philistines.” 25 And David did as the Lord commanded him, and struck down the Philistines from Geba (AA)to Gezer.
