여러 가지 병을 고치심
8 예수님이 산에서 내려오시자 많은 군중이 뒤따랐다.
2 마침 한 문둥병자가 예수님께 와서 절하며 “주님, 주님께서 원하시면 저를 깨끗이 고치실 수 있습니다” 하였다.
3 예수님이 그에게 손을 대시며 “내가 원한다. 깨끗이 나아라” 하고 말씀하시자 즉시 그의 문둥병이 나았다.
4 그때 예수님은 그에게 “너는 아무에게도 이 일을 말하지 말고 제사장에게 가서 네 몸을 보이고 모세가 명령한 예물을 드려 네가 깨끗해진 것을 사람들에게 증거하여라” 하고 말씀하셨다.
5 예수님이 가버나움에 가셨을 때 한 [a]장교가 예수님께 와서 도움을 구하며
6 “주님, 제 하인이 중풍에 걸려 몹시 고생하고 있습니다” 라고 하였다.
7 예수님이 그에게 “내가 가서 고쳐 주겠다” 하시자
8 장교는 이렇게 대답하였다. “주님, 저는 주님을 제 집에까지 오시게 할 만한 자격이 없습니다. 그저 나으라는 말씀만 한마디 해 주십시오. 그러면 제 하인이 나을 것입니다.
9 저도 윗사람을 모시고 있고 제 아래에도 부하들이 있어서 제가 부하에게 ‘가라’ 하면 가고 ‘오라’ 하면 오고 제 하인에게 ‘이 일을 하라’ 하면 합니다.”
10 예수님은 이 말에 놀라시며 따라온 사람들에게 말씀하셨다. “내가 분명히 말하지만 이스라엘 온 땅에서 이만한 믿음을 가진 사람을 만나 보지 못하였다.
11 또 너희에게 말한다. 동서 사방에서 [b]많은 이방인들이 모여들어 하늘 나라에서 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 함께 잔치 자리에 앉을 것이다.
12 그러나 [c]유대인들은 바깥 어두운 곳으로 쫓겨나 통곡하며 이를 갈 것이다.”
13 그러고서 예수님은 장교에게 “가거라. 네 믿음대로 될 것이다” 하고 말씀하셨다. 그러자 바로 그 시각에 그의 하인이 나았다.
14 예수님이 베드로의 집에 들어가 그의 장모가 열병으로 누워 있는 것을 보시고
15 그 손을 만지시자 열병은 떠나고 그 여자는 일어나 예수님의 시중을 들었다.
16 날이 저물었을 때 사람들이 귀신 들린 많은 사람들을 예수님께 데려왔다. 그래서 예수님은 말씀으로 귀신들을 쫓아내고 병자들을 다 고쳐 주셨다.
17 이것은 예언자 이사야의 다음과 같은 예언을 이루기 위해서였다. [d]“그는 우리의 연약함을 몸소 담당하시고 우리의 질병을 짊어지셨다.”
예수님을 따르는 사람의 각오
18 예수님은 군중들이 자기 주위에 모여드는 것을 보시고 호수 저편으로 건너가자고 하셨다.
19 그때 한 율법학자가 예수님께 와서 “선생님, 저는 선생님이 어디로 가시든지 따라가겠습니다” 하였다.
20 그래서 예수님은 그에게 “여우도 굴이 있고 공중의 새도 보금자리가 있다. 그러나 [e]나는 머리 둘 곳이 없다” 하고 말씀하셨다.
21 그러자 제자 중에 한 사람이 예수님께 “주님, 먼저 가서 제 아버지의 장례를 치르도록 허락해 주십시오” 하였다.
22 그러나 예수님은 그에게 “죽은 사람의 장례는 [f]영적으로 죽은 사람들이 치르게 버려 두고 너는 나를 따르라” 하고 말씀하셨다.
폭풍을 잔잔케 하심
23 그리고 예수님이 배를 타시자 제자들도 뒤따랐다.
24 그런데 갑자기 바다에 큰 폭풍이 휘몰아쳐서 배가 침몰하게 되었다. 그러나 예수님은 주무시고 계셨다.
25 제자들은 예수님을 깨우며 “주님, 살려 주십시오. 우리가 죽게 되었습니다” 하고 부르짖었다.
26 예수님이 제자들에게 “왜 무서워하느냐? 믿음이 적은 사람들아!” 하시고 일어나 바람과 바다를 꾸짖으시자 바다가 아주 잔잔해졌다.
27 사람들은 놀라 “도대체 이분이 누구이기에 바람과 바다도 복종하는가?” 하고 수군거렸다.
28 예수님이 호수 건너편 가다라 지방에 가시자 귀신 들린 두 사람이 무덤 사이에서 나와 예수님과 마주치게 되었다. 그들은 너무 사나워 아무도 그 길로 지나갈 수 없었다.
29 그런데 귀신 들린 사람들이 갑자기 “하나님의 아들이여, 우리가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있습니까? 정한 때가 되기도 전에 우리를 괴롭히려고 오셨습니까?” 하고 외쳤다.
30 마침 거기서 약간 떨어진 곳에 많은 돼지떼가 풀을 먹고 있었다.
31 귀신들은 예수님께 “우리를 내어쫓으시려거든 저 돼지떼 속에라도 들여보내 주십시오” 하고 간청하였다.
32 예수님이 “좋다. 가거라” 하시자 귀신들이 나와서 돼지떼 속으로 들어갔다. 그러자 갑자기 돼지떼가 모두 가파른 비탈로 내리달려 호수에 빠져 죽고 말았다.
33 돼지를 치던 자들이 달아나 마을에 들어가서 이 일과 귀신 들린 사람들에게 일어난 모든 일을 말하자
34 온 마을 사람들이 뛰어나와 예수님을 보고 그 지방에서 떠나 달라고 간청하였다.

Jesus Cleanses a Leper(A)
8 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 (B)And behold, a leper came and (C)worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy (D)was cleansed.
4 And Jesus said to him, (E)“See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that (F)Moses (G)commanded, as a testimony to them.”
Jesus Heals a Centurion’s Servant(H)
5 (I)Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a (J)centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.”
7 And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, (K)I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only (L)speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! 11 And I say to you that (M)many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But (N)the sons of the kingdom (O)will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed(P)
14 (Q)Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw (R)his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. 15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served [a]them.
Many Healed in the Evening(S)
16 (T)When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
(U)“He Himself took our infirmities
And bore our sicknesses.”
The Cost of Discipleship(V)
18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19 (W)Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
21 (X)Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, (Y)let me first go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Wind and Wave Obey Jesus(Z)
23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 (AA)And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
26 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then (AB)He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 So the men marveled, saying, [b]“Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
Two Demon-Possessed Men Healed(AC)
28 (AD)When He had come to the other side, to the country of the [c]Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. 29 And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
30 Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding. 31 So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, [d]permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”
32 And He said to them, “Go.” So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.
33 Then those who kept them fled; and they went away into the city and told everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, (AE)they begged Him to depart from their region.

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(A)
8 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy[a](B) came and knelt before him(C) and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone.(D) But go, show yourself to the priest(E) and offer the gift Moses commanded,(F) as a testimony to them.”
The Faith of the Centurion(G)
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed,(H) suffering terribly.”
7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.(I) 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.(J) 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west,(K) and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.(L) 12 But the subjects of the kingdom(M) will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”(N)
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.”(O) And his servant was healed at that moment.
Jesus Heals Many(P)
14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.(Q) 17 This was to fulfill(R) what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
The Cost of Following Jesus(T)
18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.(U) 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man(V) has no place to lay his head.”
21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me,(W) and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Jesus Calms the Storm(X)(Y)
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith,(Z) why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.(AA)
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Jesus Restores Two Demon-Possessed Men(AB)
28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[c] two demon-possessed(AC) men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us,(AD) Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”(AE)
30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.(AF)

Jesus Heals Many
