2 여러분과 라오디게아의 성도들과 또 내 얼굴을 보지 못한 사람들을 위해 내 가 얼마나 애쓰고 있는가를 여러분은 알기 바랍니다.
2 내가 이처럼 애쓰는 것은 그들이 마음에 용기 를 얻고 사랑으로 단합하며 이해함으로 얻게 되는 완전한 확신의 부요함에 이르러 하나님의 비밀인 그리스도를 알도록 하기 위한 것입니다.
3 그리스도 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보물이 감추어져 있습니다.
4 나는 아무도 달콤한 말로 여러분을 속이지 못하게 하려고 이 말을 하는 것입니다.
5 내가 몸은 여러분을 떠나 있으나 마음은 여러분과 함께 있어서 여러분이 질서 있는 생활을 하고 그리스도를 믿는 믿음에 굳게 선 것을 보니 기쁩니다.
그리스도 안에서의 삶
6 그러므로 여러분은 그리스도 예수님을 주님으로 받아들였으니 계속 그분 안에서 사십시오.
7 그분 안에 깊이 뿌리를 박고 [a]그분을 기초로 여러분의 인생을 건설하며 가르침을 받은 대로 믿음에 굳게 서서 감사가 넘치는 생활을 하십시오.
8 여러분은 [b]실속 없고 기만적인 철학에 사로잡히지 않도록 주의하십시오. 이것은 전통적으로 전해 내려오는 사람의 가르침이나 이 세상의 초보적인 원리에 근거한 것이지 그리스도에게 근거한 것이 아닙니다.
9 그리스도 안에는 [c]온갖 신적 성품이 육체적인 형태로 나타나 있습니다.
10 그리고 여러분도 그리스도 안에서 완전해졌습니다. 그리스도는 모든 [d]천사들의 머리가 되시는 분이십니다.
11 여러분은 사람의 손으로 베푼 할례를 받은 것이 아니라 육적인 죄의 몸을 벗어 버리는 그리스도의 할례를 받았습니다.
12 여러분은 [e]세례를 받음으로 그리스도와 함께 땅에 묻혔고 또한 그리스도를 죽은 사람 가운데서 다시 살리신 하나님의 능력을 믿음으로 그분과 함께 다시 살아나게 된 것입니다.
13 여러분도 전에는 죄와 할례받지 못한 육적인 욕망 때문에 영적으로 죽어 있었으나 하나님이 그리스도와 함께 여러분을 살리셨습니다. 하나님은 우리의 모든 죄를 용서해 주시고
14 우리에게 불리한 율법의 채무 증서를 십자가에 못박아 없애 버리셨습니다.
15 그리고 그리스도께서는 사탄의 권세를 짓밟아 십자가로 승리하셔서 그것을 사람들에게 보여 주셨습니다.
16 그러므로 여러분은 먹고 마시는 것이나 명절이나 매월 초하루나 안식일에 관해서 아무도 여러분을 비판하지 못하게 하십시오.
17 이런 것들은 실체이신 그리스도를 가리키는 그림자에 불과합니다.
18 일부러 겸손한 체하며 천사들을 숭배하는 사람들에게 속아서 여러분의 상을 빼앗기는 일이 없도록 하십시오. 그들은 자기들이 본 환상을 과장하며 헛된 생각으로 들떠 있습니다.
19 그들은 머리 되시는 그리스도에게 붙어 있지 않습니다. 온 몸은 이 머리를 통해 각 마디와 힘줄로 서로 연결되어 영양 공급을 받아서 하나님이 원하시는 대로 자라나는 것입니다.
20-21 여러분이 이 세상의 초보적 원리에 대해서 그리스도와 함께 죽었다면 어째서 세상에 속한 사람들처럼 “손대지 말아라! 맛보지 말아라! 만지지 말아라!” 는 율법적 규정에 복종합니까?
22 이런 것은 사람의 계명과 가르침에 근거한 것입니다. 음식물은 먹는 대로 부패하게 됩니다.
23 이런 규정들은 제멋대로 만든 종교적 숭배나 거짓된 겸손이나 자기 몸을 괴롭히는 데는 지혜 있는 것처럼 보이지만 육체의 정욕을 막는 데는 아무 효과가 없습니다.

Christ, the Mystery of God
2 For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on behalf of you, and those in Laodicea, and all those who have not seen my face in person[a], 2 so that their hearts may be encouraged, united in love and into all the wealth of the full assurance of insight into the knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ, 3 in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. 4 I say this in order that no one will deceive you with persuasive speech, 5 for even if I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing and seeing your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
Made Alive in Christ
6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, live in him, 7 firmly rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding with thankfulness. 8 Beware lest anyone take you captive[b] through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition[c], according to the elemental spirits of the world and not according to Christ, 9 because in him all the fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you are filled in him, who is the head over every ruler and authority, 11 in whom also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made by hands, by the removal of the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which also you were raised together with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And although you were dead[d][e] in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 having destroyed the certificate of indebtedness in ordinances against us, which was hostile to us, and removed it out of the way by[f] nailing it to the cross. 15 When he[g] had disarmed the rulers and the authorities, he made a display of them in public, triumphing over them by it.[h]
Do Not Be Judged by Human Religious Rules
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you with reference to eating or[i] drinking or participation in a feast or a new moon or a Sabbath, 17 which are a shadow of what is to come, but the reality is Christ. 18 Let no one condemn you, taking pleasure in humility and the worship of angels, going into detail about the things which he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by the ligaments and sinews, grows with the growth of God.
20 If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits of the world, why do you submit to them as if living in the world? 21 “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch,” 22 which things are all meant for destruction by consuming according to human commandments and teachings, 23 which things although they have[j],[k] to be sure, an appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and humility and unsparing treatment of the body, do not have any value[l] against the indulgence of the flesh.

2 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Not Philosophy but Christ

Not Legalism but Christ

And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 (S)Having disarmed (T)principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
16 So let no one (U)judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a [j]festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 (V)which are a shadow of things to come, but the [k]substance is of Christ. 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has [l]not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to (W)the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, (X)grows with the increase that is from God.
20 [m]Therefore, if you (Y)died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, (Z)why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— 21 (AA)“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—(AB)according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 (AC)These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and [n]neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
