洁净麻风病人
8 耶稣从山上下来，有一大群人跟随他。 2 这时候，忽然有一个麻风病人前来拜他，说：“主啊，如果你愿意，你就能洁净我。”
3 耶稣伸出手来摸他，说：“我愿意，你洁净了吧！”那人的麻风病立刻就被洁净了。 4 耶稣对他说：“你要注意，不可告诉任何人，只要去把自己给祭司看，并且献上摩西所吩咐的祭物，好对他们做见证。”
百夫长的信心
5 耶稣进了迦百农，有个百夫长前来恳求他， 6 说：“主啊，我的仆人瘫痪了，躺在家里，受剧烈的折磨。”
7 耶稣对他说：“我去使他痊愈。”
8 百夫长回答说：“主啊，我实在不配请你进我家。其实只要你说一句话，我的仆人就会痊愈的。 9 事实上，我也在人的权下，也有士兵在我之下。我对这个说‘去’，他就去；对那个说‘来’，他就来；对我的奴仆说‘做这事’，他就去做。”
10 耶稣听了，十分感慨，对跟随他的人说：“我确实地告诉你们：在以色列我没有见过有这么大信心[a]的人。 11 我告诉你们：将有许多人从东从西而来，在天国里与亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各一同坐席。 12 但那些‘天国的儿女’，却将被丢在外面的黑暗里。在那里将有哀哭和切齿。” 13 于是耶稣对那百夫长说：“回去吧，照着你所信的，给你成全吧！”他的仆人就在那一刻痊愈了。
在迦百农治病
14 耶稣来到彼得家，看见彼得的岳母正发烧躺着。 15 耶稣一摸她的手，烧就退了。于是她就起来服事耶稣。 16 到了傍晚，人们把许多有鬼魔附身的人带到耶稣那里。耶稣话语一出就把那些邪灵都赶了出去，并且使所有患病的人痊愈了。 17 这样，那藉着先知以赛亚所说的话就应验了：
“他亲自代替了我们的软弱，
担当了我们的疾病。”[b]
跟随耶稣
18 耶稣看见一群人[c]围着他，就吩咐渡到对岸去。 19 有一个经文士前来对他说：“老师，无论你到哪里去，我都要跟从你。”
20 耶稣对他说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”
21 耶稣的另一个门徒对他说：“主啊，请准许我先去埋葬我的父亲。”
22 但是耶稣对他说：“你跟从我，让死人去埋葬他们的死人吧。”
平静风浪
23 耶稣上了船，他的门徒们跟着他。 24 这时候，忽然湖[d]上起了大风暴，以致波浪盖过了船，耶稣却睡着了。 25 门徒们上前来叫醒他，说：“主啊，救救我们，我们没命了！”
26 耶稣对他们说：“为什么胆怯呢？你们这些小信的人哪！”耶稣就起来，斥责风和浪[e]，湖面就变得一片平静。
27 他们都感到惊奇，说：“这个人究竟是什么人？连风和浪[f]也听从他！”
在格拉森驱赶鬼魔
28 耶稣来到对岸格达拉[g]人的地方，两个有鬼魔附身的人，从墓地迎着他出来。他们非常凶猛，以致没有人能从那条路经过。 29 忽然，他们喊叫说：“神的儿子[h]啊，我们与你有什么关系？时候来到之前，你就来这里折磨我们吗？”
30 当时，离他们很远的地方，有一大群猪正在吃食。 31 那些鬼魔就央求耶稣，说：“如果你要把我们赶出去，就叫我们进入这群猪里面去吧。”
32 耶稣对它们说：“去吧！”它们就出来，进入猪[i]里面去了。忽然，那整群猪[j]从山崖冲到湖里，在水里淹死[k]了。 33 那些放猪的人就逃跑，进城去传报了这一切事，包括鬼魔附身之人的事。 34 看哪，全城的人都出来看耶稣，见了耶稣以后，就央求他离开他们的地区。

麻风病痊愈
8 耶稣下山的时候，有许多人跟着。 2 有一个患麻风病的人跑来跪在祂跟前，说：“主啊，如果你肯，一定能使我洁净。”
3 耶稣伸手摸他，说：“我肯，你洁净了吧！”那人的麻风病就立刻洁净了。
4 耶稣对他说：“不要把这事告诉别人，要去让祭司察看你的身体，并且照摩西的规定献祭，向众人证明你已经洁净了。”
百夫长的信心
5 耶稣到了迦百农，一个百夫长前来向祂求助，说： 6 “主啊，我的仆人瘫痪，躺在家里，非常痛苦。”
7 耶稣说：“我这就去医治他。”
8 百夫长说：“主啊，我不配让你亲自来我家。你只要说一句话，我仆人就会痊愈。 9 因为我有上司，也有部下。我命令我的部下去，他就去；要他来，他就来。我吩咐仆人做什么事，他一定照办。”
10 耶稣听了，感到惊奇，便对跟随祂的人说：“我实在告诉你们，我在以色列从未见过信心这么大的人。 11 我告诉你们，将来有许多从东从西来的人会在天国与亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各一同欢宴。 12 但那些本应承受天国的人反会被赶出去，在黑暗里哀哭切齿。”
13 耶稣对百夫长说：“你回去吧！就照你所信的给你成就。”就在那时候，他的仆人便痊愈了。
治病赶鬼
14 耶稣来到彼得家，看见彼得的岳母正在发烧，躺在床上。 15 耶稣一摸她的手，烧就退了。她便起来服侍耶稣。
16 当天晚上，有人带着许多被鬼附身的人来见耶稣。耶稣一句话就把鬼赶出去了，并医好了所有的病人。 17 这是要应验以赛亚先知的话：“祂担当了我们的软弱，背负了我们的疾病。”
跟从耶稣的代价
18 耶稣看到人群围着祂，就吩咐门徒渡到湖对岸。 19 这时，有一位律法教师上前对耶稣说：“老师，无论你往哪里去，我都要跟从你。”
20 耶稣说：“狐狸有洞，飞鸟有窝，人子却没有安枕之处。”
21 另一个门徒对耶稣说：“主啊，请让我先回去安葬我的父亲。” 22 耶稣对他说：“跟从我，让死人去埋葬他们的死人吧！”
平静风浪
23 耶稣上了船，门徒也跟着祂上了船。 24 忽然，湖面上狂风大作，波涛汹涌，船快要被巨浪吞没，耶稣却在睡觉。
25 门徒连忙叫醒耶稣，说：“主啊，救命！我们快淹死了！”
26 耶稣答道：“你们的信心太小了，为什么害怕呢？”于是祂起来斥责风和浪，风浪就完全平静了。
27 门徒很惊奇，说：“祂究竟是什么人？连风浪都听祂的！”
治好两个被鬼附身的人
28 耶稣到了对岸加大拉[a]人的地方，有两个被鬼附身的人从坟地里出来见祂。他们非常凶恶，没有人敢从那里经过。 29 他们喊着说：“上帝的儿子啊！我们和你有什么关系？时候还没有到，你就来叫我们受苦吗？”
30 当时，有一大群猪在附近吃食。 31 鬼就哀求耶稣：“如果你要赶我们出去，就让我们进入猪群吧！”
32 耶稣说：“去吧！”
于是，鬼从那二人身上出来，进入猪群，整群猪就一路奔下陡坡，冲进湖里淹死了。 33 放猪的人逃进城，把事情的经过以及被鬼附身者的遭遇告诉了城里的人。 34 于是，全城的人都出来见耶稣，见到后，便请求祂离开那地方。

Jesus Heals a Sick Man(A)
8 When Jesus came down from the ·hill [mountainside], ·great crowds [many people] followed him. 2 Then a ·man with a skin disease [T leper; C the term does not refer to modern leprosy (Hansen’s disease), but to various skin disorders; see Lev. 14] came to Jesus. The man ·bowed down [knelt] before him and said, “Lord, you can ·heal me [L make me clean; C such skin disorders rendered the victim ceremonially unclean] if you ·will [choose; are willing].”
3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man and said, “I ·will [do choose; am willing]. Be ·healed [L cleansed]!” And immediately the man was ·healed [L cleansed] from his disease. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t tell anyone about this. But go and show yourself to the priest and offer the ·gift [offering; sacrifice] Moses commanded for people who are made well [Lev. 14:1–32]. This will ·show the people [be a public testimony to; be evidence for] what I have done.”
Jesus Heals a Soldier’s Servant(B)
5 When Jesus entered the city of Capernaum, an ·army officer [L centurion] came to him, ·begging [pleading] for help. 6 The officer said, “Lord, my servant is at home in bed. He ·can’t move his body [is paralyzed] and ·is in much pain [suffering terribly].”
7 Jesus said to the officer, “·I will go and heal him. [or Shall I go and heal him?]”
8 The officer answered, “Lord [or Sir], I ·am not worthy [do not deserve] for you to come into my house. You only need to ·command it [L say the word], and my servant will be healed. 9 [L For] I, too, am a man ·under the authority of others [L under authority], and I have soldiers under my command. I tell one soldier, ‘Go,’ and he goes. I tell another soldier, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my ·servant [slave], ‘Do this,’ and my ·servant [slave] does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. He said to those who were following him, “I tell you the truth, ·this is the greatest faith I have found [L I haven’t found such faith], ·even in Israel [or in all Israel]. 11 Many people will come from the east and from the west and will ·sit and eat [L recline; C the posture for a banquet or dinner party] with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven [C the messianic banquet, a metaphor for God’s restoration of creation; Is. 25:6–8]. 12 But ·those people who should be in [the heirs of; or the subjects of; L the sons of] the kingdom will be thrown ·outside into the darkness [into the outer darkness], where ·people will cry and grind their teeth with pain [L there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth; C metaphors for agony and torment].”
13 Then Jesus said to the ·officer [L centurion], “Go home. ·Your servant will be healed just as you believed he would [L Let it be done for you just as you have believed].” And his servant was healed that ·same hour [exact time].
Jesus Heals Many People(C)
14 When Jesus went to Peter’s house, he saw that Peter’s mother-in-law was ·sick in bed [lying down] with a fever. 15 Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she stood up and began ·to serve [waiting on] Jesus.
16 That evening people brought to Jesus many who ·had demons [were demon-possessed]. Jesus ·spoke and the demons left them [L drove/cast out the demons with a word/command], and he healed all the sick. 17 He did these things to ·bring about [fulfill] what Isaiah the prophet had said:
“He took our ·suffering [sicknesses; weaknesses]
and ·carried [bore; removed] our diseases [Is. 53:4].”
People Want to Follow Jesus(D)
18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he ·told [instructed; ordered] his ·followers [disciples] to ·go [cross] to the other side of the lake. 19 Then a ·teacher of the law [scribe] came to Jesus and said, “·Teacher [Master], I will follow you any place you go.”
20 Jesus said to him, “The foxes have ·holes [dens] to live in, and the birds [L of the sky] have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to ·rest [lay] his head.”
21 Another man, one of Jesus’ ·followers [disciples], said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the people who are dead [C spiritually] bury their own dead.”
Jesus Calms a Storm(E)
23 Jesus got into a boat, and his ·followers [disciples] ·went with [L followed] him. 24 [Suddenly; L And look/T behold] A ·great [fierce] storm arose on the ·lake [sea] so that waves ·covered [swept over] the boat, but Jesus was sleeping. 25 His ·followers [disciples] went to him and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We ·will drown [L are lost/perishing]!”
26 Jesus answered, “Why are you ·afraid [cowardly]? ·You don’t have enough faith [or How little faith you have!; T You of little faith].” Then Jesus got up and ·gave a command to [reprimanded; rebuked] the wind and the waves, and it became completely calm [C paralleling God’s subduing of the waters representing chaos in the OT; Ps. 65:7; 89:9; 107:29].
27 The men were amazed and said, “What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the ·waves [L sea] obey him!”
Jesus Heals Two Men with Demons(F)
28 When Jesus arrived at the other side of the lake in the ·area [region; territory] of the Gadarene[a] people [C from Gadara, an area southeast of Lake Galilee; the exact location is uncertain], two ·men who had demons in them [demon-possessed men; demoniacs] came out of the ·burial caves [tombs] and met him. These men were so ·dangerous [violent; fierce] that people could not ·use the road by those caves [L pass that way]. 29 They shouted, “·What do you want with us [or Leave us alone; What business do we have with each other?; L What to me and to you?], Son of God? Did you come here to ·torture [torment] us before the ·right time [or appointed time; L time; C the day of judgment]?”
30 ·Near that place there [In the distance] was a large herd of pigs feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you ·make us leave these men [L drive/cast us out], please send us into that herd of pigs [C ritually unclean animals].”
32 Jesus said to them, “Go!” So the demons ·left [came out of] the men and went into the pigs. Then [L look; T behold] the whole herd rushed down the ·hill [steep bank; precipice] into the ·lake [sea] and ·were drowned [L died in the waters]. 33 The herdsmen ·ran away [fled] and went into town, where they told about all of this and what had happened to the ·men who had demons [demon-possessed men; demoniacs]. 34 Then [L look; T behold] the whole town went out to ·see [meet] Jesus. When they saw him, they begged him to leave their ·area [region; territory].
