阴谋杀害耶稣
26 当耶稣讲完了这一切话，就对自己的门徒们说： 2 “你们知道，过两天就是逾越节，人子要被交出去钉上十字架。”
3 那时，祭司长们[a]和民间的长老们聚集在叫该亚法的大祭司的宅院里， 4 商议要用诡计拘捕耶稣，把他杀掉。 5 不过他们说：“不可在节日期间，免得民中发生骚乱。”
在伯大尼被膏抹
6 耶稣在伯大尼，在麻风病人西门家里的时候， 7 有一个女人拿着一个盛了极其贵重香液的玉瓶上前来，在耶稣坐席的时候，把香液浇在他的头上。 8 门徒们看见了就很不满，说：“为什么这样浪费？ 9 这香液[b]本来可以卖很多钱，分给穷人。”
10 耶稣知道了，就对他们说：“你们为什么为难这妇人呢？她为我做了一件美好的事。 11 要知道，你们总是有穷人与你们在一起，但你们不总是有我。 12 她把这香液浇在我身上，是为了预备安葬我而做的。 13 我确实地告诉你们：在全世界，福音无论传到什么地方，这女人所做的事也将被述说，做为对她的记念。”
14 那时候，十二使徒[c]中的一个，就是那称为加略人犹大的，到祭司长们那里去， 15 说：“如果我把他交给你们，你们愿意给我什么？”他们就约定给他三十个银钱。 16 从那时候起，犹大就开始找机会要把耶稣交出去。
在逾越节被出卖
17 除酵节的第一日，门徒们前来问耶稣：“你要我们到哪里去预备，好让你吃逾越节的晚餐呢？”
18 耶稣说：“你们进城去，到某人那里，告诉他：‘老师说，我的时候快到了。我要在你那里与我的门徒们一起守逾越节。’” 19 门徒们就依照耶稣所吩咐的去做，预备了逾越节的晚餐。 20 到了晚上，耶稣与十二使徒一同坐席。 21 在他们吃的时候，耶稣说：“我确实地告诉你们：你们当中有一个人要出卖我。”
22 他们极其忧伤，就一个一个地开始问耶稣：“主啊，不会是我吧？”
23 耶稣回答说：“那与我一同把手蘸在盘子里的，就是要出卖我的人。 24 人子确实要离去，正如经上指着他所写的，但是出卖人子的那个人有祸了。对他来说，没有出生倒好。”
25 那出卖耶稣的犹大应声说：“拉比，不会是我吧？”
耶稣对他说：“你已经说了。”
第一次圣餐
26 在他们吃的时候，耶稣拿起饼来，祝福了，就掰开，递给门徒们，说：“你们领受吃吧，这是我的身体。” 27 接着，他拿起杯来，祝谢了，递给他们，说：“你们都来喝， 28 因为这是我的血，是为立约[d]的，为许多人所流的，使罪得赦免。 29 我告诉你们：从今以后我绝不喝这葡萄汁[e]，直到我在我父的国里与你们一起喝新的那一天。” 30 他们唱了赞美诗[f]，就出来，往橄榄山去了。
预言彼得不认主
31 那时，耶稣对他们说：“今天晚上，你们都将因我被绊倒，因为经上记着：
‘我将击打牧人，
群羊就被分散。’[g]
32 但是我复活以后，要在你们之前到加利利去。”
33 彼得对耶稣说：“即使所有的人因你被绊倒，我也绝不会被绊倒。”
34 耶稣对他说：“我确实地告诉你：今天晚上鸡叫以前，你会三次不认我。”
35 彼得对耶稣说：“即使我必须与你同死，我也绝不会不认你。”所有的门徒也都如此说。
园中的祷告
36 随后，耶稣与他们来到一个叫客西马尼的地方。耶稣对门徒们说：“我走开在那里祷告的时候，你们坐在这里。” 37 他带了彼得和西庇太的两个儿子一起去，开始感到忧虑，极其难过， 38 就对他们说：“我的灵魂很忧伤，几乎要死。你们留在这里，与我一同警醒。” 39 耶稣稍往前走，把脸伏在地上祷告说：“我父啊，如果有可能，让这杯离开我吧！但不要照我的意愿，而要照你的意愿。”
40 耶稣回到门徒们那里，看见他们睡着了，就对彼得说：“你们怎么就不能与我一同警醒一个小时呢？ 41 要警醒祷告，免得陷入试探。你们心灵虽然愿意，肉体却是软弱的。”
42 耶稣第二次又去祷告说：“我父啊，如果这杯不能离开我[h]，一定要我喝下，那就愿你的旨意成就！” 43 他又回来，看见他们在睡觉，因为他们的眼皮发沉。
44 耶稣又离开他们，第三次去祷告，又说了同样的话。 45 然后，他回到门徒们那里，对他们说：“你们还在睡觉、休息吗？看哪，时候快到了！人子被交在[i]罪人的手里了。 46 起来，我们走吧！看，那出卖我的人快到了！”
犹大亲吻的暗号
47 耶稣还在说话的时候，忽然十二使徒之一的犹大来了。有一大群人拿着刀剑和棍棒与他一起来，他们是祭司长们和民间的长老们所派来的。 48 那出卖耶稣的人已经和他们定了一个暗号，说：“我如果亲吻谁，谁就是那个人。你们把他抓住。” 49 犹大立刻上前来对耶稣说：“拉比，愿你欢喜！”然后亲吻了他。
50 耶稣对他说：“朋友，你为什么来到这里？”
于是，那些人上前来，下手拘捕了耶稣。 51 这时候，忽然有一个与耶稣在一起的人伸手拔出刀来，向大祭司的奴仆砍去，削掉了他的一个耳朵。
52 耶稣就对他说：“把你的刀收回原处！因为凡动刀的，必死在刀下。 53 难道你想我不能求我父，现在就为我派来十二个军团以上的天使吗？ 54 如果这样，‘事情必须如此发生’的经文怎么应验呢？”
55 这时候，耶稣对那群人说：“你们带着刀剑和棍棒出来抓我，就像对付强盗那样吗？我天天坐在圣殿里教导人，你们并没有抓我。 56 不过这整个事的发生，是为要应验先知书的那些经文。”这时候，所有的门徒都离开他，逃跑了。
在议员面前受审
57 拘捕耶稣的人把他带到大祭司该亚法那里。经文士们和长老们已经聚集在那里了。 58 彼得远远地跟着耶稣，一直到大祭司的院子。他进到里面，与差役们坐在一起，想看看结果如何。
59 当时，祭司长们[j]和全议会的人为了要处死耶稣，都在寻找伪证来控告他。 60 虽然有许多假见证人上前来，可是他们找不出什么。后来有两个人[k]上前来， 61 说：“这个人说过：‘我能拆毁神的圣所，三天内又建起来。’”
62 于是大祭司就站起来，问耶稣：“对这些人控告你的事，你什么都不回应吗？” 63 耶稣却沉默不语。大祭司又对他说：“我命令你指着永生的神起誓，告诉我们你是不是基督——神的儿子？”
64 耶稣回答他，说：“你已经说了。不过我告诉你们：将来你们会看见人子坐在全能者的右边，在天上的云彩中来临。[l]”
65 大祭司就撕裂自己的衣服，说：“他说了亵渎的话！难道我们还需要什么见证人吗？看，现在你们都听见了这亵渎的话。 66 你们怎么看？”
他们回答说：“他是该死的！” 67 当时他们就往他脸上吐唾沫，用拳头打他，也有人用手掌打他， 68 说：“给我们说预言吧！基督！打你的是谁？”
彼得不认主
69 彼得坐在外面的院子里，有一个女仆过来对他说：“你也与那个加利利人耶稣是一伙的。”
70 彼得却在众人面前否认说：“我不知道你在说什么。”
71 他出去到门口，另有一个女仆看见他，对那里的人说：“这个人与拿撒勒人耶稣是一伙的。”
72 彼得又起誓否认说：“我不认识那个人！”
73 过了一会儿，旁边站着的人过来对彼得说：“你真的也是与他们一伙的，因为连你的口音也把你暴露了。”
74 彼得就开始赌咒并起誓说：“我不认识那个人！”立时，鸡就叫了。 75 彼得想起耶稣说过的话：“鸡叫以前，你会三次不认我”，就到外面去，痛哭起来。

Die Leidensgeschichte 26–27
Die Verschwörung gegen Jesus
26 Und es geschah, als Jesus alle diese Worte beendet hatte, sprach er zu seinen Jüngern: 2 Ihr wißt, daß in zwei Tagen das Passah ist; dann wird des Menschen Sohn ausgeliefert [werden], um gekreuzigt zu werden.
3 Da versammelten sich die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten und die Ältesten des Volkes im Hof des obersten Priesters, der Kajaphas hieß. 4 Und sie hielten miteinander Rat, wie sie Jesus mit List ergreifen und töten könnten. 5 Sie sprachen aber: [Nur] nicht am Fest, damit kein Aufruhr unter dem Volk entsteht!
Die Salbung Jesu in Bethanien
6 Als nun Jesus zu Bethanien im Haus Simons des Aussätzigen war, 7 trat eine Frau zu ihm mit einer alabasternen Flasche voll kostbarer Salbe und goß sie auf sein Haupt, während er zu Tisch lag.
8 Als das seine Jünger sahen, wurden sie entrüstet und sprachen: Wozu diese Verschwendung? 9 Man hätte das teuer verkaufen und den Armen geben können!
10 Da es aber Jesus merkte, sprach er zu ihnen: Warum bekümmert ihr die Frau ? Sie hat doch ein gutes Werk an mir getan! 11 Denn die Armen habt ihr allezeit bei euch, mich aber habt ihr nicht allezeit! 12 Damit, daß sie diese Salbe auf meinen Leib goß, hat sie mich zum Begräbnis bereitet. 13 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wo immer dieses Evangelium in der ganzen Welt gepredigt wird, da wird man auch sagen, was diese getan hat, zu ihrem Gedächtnis!
Der Verrat des Judas
14 Da ging einer der Zwölf, namens Judas Ischariot, hin zu den Hohenpriestern 15 und sprach: Was wollt ihr mir geben, wenn ich ihn euch verrate? Und sie vereinbarten dreißig Silberlinge. 16 Und von da an suchte er eine gute Gelegenheit, ihn zu verraten.
Das letzte Passahmahl
17 Am ersten Tag der ungesäuerten Brote traten die Jünger nun zu Jesus und sprachen zu ihm: Wo willst du, daß wir dir das Passahmahl zu essen bereiten? 18 Und er sprach: Geht hin in die Stadt zu dem und dem und sprecht zu ihm: Der Meister läßt dir sagen: Meine Zeit ist nahe; bei dir will ich mit meinen Jüngern das Passah halten! 19 Und die Jünger taten, wie Jesus ihnen befohlen hatte, und bereiteten das Passah.
20 Als es nun Abend geworden [war], legte er sich mit den zwölf Jüngern zu Tisch. 21 Und während sie aßen, sprach er: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer von euch wird mich verraten! 22 Da wurden sie sehr betrübt und fingen , ein jeder von ihnen an, ihn zu fragen: Herr, doch nicht ich? 23 Er antwortete aber und sprach: Der, [der] mit mir die Hand in die Schüssel taucht, der wird mich verraten. 24 Des Menschen Sohn geht zwar dahin, wie von ihm geschrieben steht; aber wehe dem Menschen, durch welchen des Menschen Sohn verraten wird! Es wäre diesem Menschen besser, daß er nicht geboren wäre.
25 Da antwortete Judas, der ihn verriet, und sprach: Rabbi, doch nicht ich? Er spricht zu ihm: Du hast es gesagt!
Einsetzung des Abendmahls
26 Als sie nun aßen, nahm Jesus das Brot, dankte, brach es, gab es den Jüngern und sprach: Nehmt, eßt! Das ist mein Leib. 27 Und er nahm den Kelch, dankte, gab ihnen denselben und sprach: Trinkt alle daraus! 28 Denn das ist mein Blut des neuen Bundes[a],das für viele vergossen wird zur Vergebung der Sünden! 29 Ich sage euch aber, ich werde von jetzt an von diesem Gewächs des Weinstocks nicht mehr trinken, bis zu jenem Tag, da ich es neu mit euch trinken werde im Reich meines Vaters.
30 Und nachdem sie den Lobgesang[b] gesungen hatten, gingen sie hinaus an den Ölberg.
Die Verleugnung des Petrus vorausgesagt
31 Da spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Ihr werdet euch in dieser Nacht alle an mir ärgern[c]; denn es steht geschrieben: „Ich werde den Hirten schlagen, und die Schafe der Herde werden sich zerstreuen.“ 32 Wenn ich aber auferstanden[d] sein werde, will ich euch nach Galiläa vorangehen. 33 Da antwortete Petrus und sprach zu ihm: Wenn sich auch alle an dir ärgern[e], so werde doch ich mich niemals ärgern! 34 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir, in dieser Nacht, ehe der Hahn kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen!
35 Petrus spricht zu ihm: Und wenn ich auch mit dir sterben müßte, werde ich dich nicht verleugnen! Gleicherweise sprachen auch alle Jünger.
Gethsemane, Die Gefangennahme Jesu
36 Da kommt Jesus mit ihnen in ein Gut namens Gethsemane. Und er spricht zu den Jüngern: Setzt euch hier, während ich dorthin gehe und bete. 37 Und er nahm Petrus und die zwei Söhne des Zebedäus zu sich und fing an, betrübt zu werden, und ihm graute sehr. 38 Da spricht er zu ihnen: Meine Seele ist tiefbetrübt bis zum Tod! Bleibt hier und wacht mit mir!
39 Und er ging ein wenig vorwärts, warf sich auf sein Angesicht, betete und sprach: Mein Vater! Ist es möglich, so gehe dieser Kelch an mir vorüber; doch nicht wie ich will, sondern wie du willst!
40 Und er kommt zu den Jüngern und findet sie schlafend und spricht zu Petrus: Könnt ihr also nicht eine Stunde mit mir wachen? 41 Wacht und betet, damit ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallt! Der Geist ist willig; aber das Fleisch ist schwach.
42 Wiederum ging er zum zweitenmal hin, betete und sprach: Mein Vater, wenn dieser Kelch nicht an mir vorübergehen kann, ohne daß ich ihn trinke, so geschehe dein Wille! 43 Und er kommt und findet sie nochmals schlafend; denn die Augen waren ihnen schwer geworden. 44 Und er ließ sie, ging wieder hin, betete zum drittenmal und sprach dieselben Worte.
45 Da kommt er zu seinen Jüngern und spricht zu ihnen: Schlaft ihr noch immer und ruht? Siehe, die Stunde ist nahe, und des Menschen Sohn wird in die Hände der Sünder überliefert! 46 Steht auf, laßt uns gehen! Siehe, der mich verrät, ist nahe!
Die Gefangennahme Jesu
47 Und während er noch redete, siehe, da kam Judas, einer der Zwölf, und mit ihm eine große Schar mit Schwertern und Stöcken, von den Hohenpriestern und Ältesten des Volkes her. 48 Der, [der] ihn aber verriet, hatte ihnen ein Zeichen gegeben und gesagt: Welchen ich küssen werde, der ist's, den ergreift! 49 Und sogleich trat er zu Jesus und sprach: Sei gegrüßt, Rabbi, - und küßte ihn. 50 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Freund, wozu bist du hier? Da traten sie hinzu, legten Hand an Jesus und nahmen ihn fest.
51 Und siehe, einer von denen, die bei Jesus waren, streckte die Hand aus, zog sein Schwert, + schlug den Knecht des Hohenpriesters und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab. 52 Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: Stecke dein Schwert an seinen Ort! Denn alle, die das Schwert ergreifen, werden durch das Schwert umkommen. 53 Oder meinst du, ich könnte nicht meinen Vater bitten, und er würde mir *mehr als zwölf Legionen Engel schicken? 54 Wie würden dann aber die Schriften erfüllt, daß es so kommen muß?
55 In jener Stunde sprach Jesus zu der Volksmenge: Wie gegen einen Mörder seid ihr ausgezogen mit Schwertern und Stöcken, mich zu ergreifen! Täglich bin ich bei euch lehrend im Tempel gesessen, und ihr habt mich nicht ergriffen. 56 Das alles aber ist geschehen, damit die Schriften der Propheten erfüllt würden.
- Da verließen ihn alle Jünger und flohen.
Jesus vor dem Hohen Rat und dem Hohenpriester Kajaphas - Seine Verurteilung
57 Die aber, [die] Jesus festgenommen hatten, führten ihn ab zu dem Hohenpriester Kajaphas, wo die Schriftgelehrten und die Ältesten versammelt waren. 58 Petrus aber folgte ihnen von ferne, bis zum Hof des Hohenpriesters. Und er ging hinein und setzte sich zu den Dienern, um den Ausgang [der Sache] zu sehen.
59 Aber die Hohenpriester und die Ältesten und der ganze Rat[f] suchten falsches Zeugnis gegen Jesus, um ihn zum Tode zu bringen. 60 Aber sie fanden keins, und obgleich viele falsche Zeugen herzukamen, fanden sie doch keins.
61 Zuletzt aber kamen zwei und sprachen: Dieser hat gesagt: Ich kann den Tempel[g] Gottes zerstören und ihn in drei Tagen aufbauen. 62 Und der Hohepriester stand auf und sprach zu ihm: Antwortest du nichts auf das, was diese gegen dich zeugen? 63 Jesus aber schwieg.
Und der Hohepriester antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Ich beschwöre dich bei dem lebendigen Gott, daß du uns sagst, ob du der Christus, der Sohn Gottes bist! 64 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Du hast es gesagt! Überdies sage ich euch: Von jetzt an werdet ihr des Menschen Sohn sitzen sehen zur Rechten der Kraft und kommen auf den Wolken des Himmels!
65 Da zerriß der Hohepriester seine Kleider und sprach: Er hat gelästert! Was bedürfen wir noch Zeugen? Siehe, nun habt ihr seine Lästerung gehört. 66 Was meint ihr? Sie antworteten und sprachen: Er ist des Todes schuldig!
67 Da spieen sie ihm ins Angesicht und schlugen ihn mit Fäusten; andere gaben ihm Backenstreiche 68 und sprachen: Christus, weissage uns! Wer ist's, der dich geschlagen hat?
Dreifache Verleugnung durch Petrus
69 Petrus aber saß draußen im Hof. Und eine Magd trat zu ihm und sprach: Auch du warst mit Jesus, dem Galiläer! 70 Er aber leugnete vor allen und sprach: Ich weiß nicht, was du sagst!
71 Als er dann in den Vorhof hinausging, sah ihn eine andere und sprach zu denen, die dort waren: Dieser war auch mit Jesus, dem Nazarener! 72 Und er leugnete nochmals mit einem Schwur: Ich kenne den Menschen nicht!
73 Bald darauf aber traten die Umstehenden herzu und sagten zu Petrus: Wahrhaftig, du bist auch einer von ihnen; denn auch deine Sprache verrät dich. 74 Da fing er an zu fluchen und zu schwören: Ich kenne den Menschen nicht!
Und sogleich krähte der Hahn. 75 Und Petrus erinnerte sich an das Wort[h] Jesu, der zu ihm gesagt hatte: Ehe der Hahn kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen. Und er ging hinaus und weinte bitterlich.

Complot para prender y matar a Jesús
26 Cuando[a] Jesús terminó todas estas palabras(A), dijo a Sus discípulos: 2 «(B)Ustedes saben que dentro de dos días se celebra la Pascua(C), y el Hijo del Hombre será[b]entregado(D)para ser crucificado».
3 Entonces los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo se reunieron(E) en el patio del sumo sacerdote(F) llamado Caifás(G), 4 y con engaño, tramaron entre ellos prender y matar a Jesús(H). 5 Pero decían: «No durante la fiesta, para que no haya un tumulto en el pueblo(I)».
Jesús ungido en Betania
6 (J)Estando Jesús en Betania(K), en casa de Simón el leproso, 7 se acercó a Él una mujer con un frasco de alabastro de perfume muy costoso, y lo derramó sobre Su cabeza cuando estaba sentado[c] a la mesa. 8 Pero al ver esto, los discípulos se indignaron, y decían: «¿Para qué este desperdicio? 9 Porque este perfume podía haberse vendido a gran precio, y el dinero habérselo dado a los pobres».
10 Pero Jesús, dándose cuenta, les dijo: «¿Por qué molestan a la mujer? Pues buena es la obra que me ha hecho. 11 Porque a los pobres siempre los tendrán[d]con ustedes, pero a Mí no siempre me tendrán[e](L). 12 Pues al derramar ella este perfume sobre Mi cuerpo, lo ha hecho a fin de prepararme para la sepultura(M). 13 En verdad les digo, que dondequiera que este evangelio se predique, en el mundo entero, se hablará también de lo que esta ha hecho, en memoria de ella(N)».
Traición de Judas
14 (O)Entonces uno de los doce, llamado Judas Iscariote(P), fue a los principales sacerdotes, 15 y les dijo: «¿Qué están dispuestos a darme para que yo les entregue a Jesús(Q)?». Y ellos le pesaron treinta monedas de plata (30 siclos: 432 gramos)(R). 16 Y desde entonces Judas buscaba una oportunidad para entregar a Jesús.
Preparación de la Pascua
17 (S)El primer día de la Fiesta de los Panes sin Levadura[f](T), se acercaron los discípulos a Jesús, diciendo: «¿Dónde quieres que hagamos los preparativos para que comas la Pascua?». 18 Y Él respondió: «Vayan a la ciudad, a cierto hombre(U), y díganle: “El Maestro dice: ‘Mi tiempo está cerca(V); quiero celebrar la Pascua en tu casa con Mis discípulos’”». 19 Entonces los discípulos hicieron como Jesús les había mandado, y prepararon la Pascua.
Jesús identifica al traidor
20 (W)Al atardecer, estaba Jesús sentado[g] a la mesa con los doce discípulos. 21 Y mientras comían, dijo: «En verdad les digo que uno de ustedes me entregará(X)». 22 Ellos, profundamente entristecidos, comenzaron a decir uno por uno: «¿Acaso soy yo, Señor?». 23 Él respondió: «El que metió[h]la mano al mismo tiempo que Yo en el plato, ese me entregará(Y). 24 El Hijo del Hombre se va, según está escrito de Él(Z); pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del Hombre es entregado! Mejor le fuera a ese hombre no haber nacido[i](AA)». 25 Judas(AB), el que lo iba a entregar[j], dijo: «¿Acaso soy yo, Rabí[k](AC)?». «Tú lo has dicho(AD)», le contestó Jesús.

26 (AE)Mientras comían, Jesús tomó pan, y habiéndolo bendecido, lo partió, y dándoselo a los discípulos(AF), dijo: «Tomen, coman; esto es Mi cuerpo». 27 Y tomando una copa, y habiendo dado gracias, se la dio, diciendo: «Beban todos de ella; 28 porque esto es Mi sangre del nuevo[l]pacto(AG), que es derramada por muchos(AH)para el perdón de los pecados. 29 Les digo que desde ahora no beberé más de este fruto de la vid, hasta aquel día cuando lo beba nuevo con ustedes en el reino de Mi Padre».
30 (AI)Y después de cantar un himno, salieron hacia el monte de los Olivos(AJ).
Jesús predice la negación de Pedro
31 Entonces Jesús les dijo*: «Esta noche todos ustedes se apartarán[m]por causa de Mí(AK), pues escrito está: “Heriré al pastor, y las ovejas del rebaño se dispersarán(AL)”. 32 Pero después de que Yo haya resucitado, iré delante de ustedes a Galilea(AM)». 33 Pedro le respondió: «Aunque todos se aparten[n] por causa de Ti, yo nunca me apartaré[o]». 34 Jesús le dijo: «En verdad te digo que esta misma noche, antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces(AN)». 35 Pedro le dijo*: «Aunque tenga que morir(AO) junto a Ti, jamás te negaré». Todos los discípulos dijeron también lo mismo.
Jesús en Getsemaní
36 (AP)Entonces Jesús llegó* con ellos a un lugar que se llama Getsemaní, y dijo* a Sus discípulos: «Siéntense aquí mientras Yo voy allá y oro(AQ)». 37 Y tomando con Él a Pedro y a los dos hijos de Zebedeo(AR), comenzó a entristecerse y a angustiarse. 38 Entonces les dijo*: «Mi alma está muy afligida(AS), hasta el punto de la muerte; quédense aquí y velen junto a Mí(AT)».
39 Y adelantándose un poco, cayó sobre Su rostro, orando y diciendo: «Padre Mío, si es posible, que pase de Mí esta copa(AU); pero no sea como Yo quiero, sino como Tú quieras(AV)». 40 Entonces vino* Jesús a los discípulos y los halló* durmiendo, y dijo* a Pedro: «¿Conque no pudieron velar una hora junto a Mí(AW)? 41 Velen(AX)y oren para que no entren en tentación; el espíritu está dispuesto, pero la carne es débil(AY)».
42 Apartándose de nuevo, oró por segunda vez, diciendo: «Padre Mío, si esta copa no puede pasar sin que Yo la beba(AZ), hágase Tu voluntad(BA)». 43 Vino otra vez Jesús y los halló durmiendo, porque sus ojos estaban cargados de sueño. 44 Dejándolos de nuevo, se fue y oró por tercera vez, y dijo otra vez las mismas palabras[p]. 45 Entonces vino* a los discípulos y les dijo*: «¿Todavía están[q]durmiendo y descansando? Vean, ha llegado la hora(BB), y el Hijo del Hombre es entregado en manos de pecadores. 46 ¡Levántense! ¡Vamos! Miren, está cerca el que me entrega».
Arresto de Jesús
47 (BC)Mientras Jesús estaba todavía hablando, Judas(BD), uno de los doce[r], llegó acompañado de[s] una gran multitud con espadas y palos, de parte de los principales sacerdotes y de los ancianos del pueblo. 48 El que lo entregaba les había dado una señal, diciendo: «Al que yo bese, Él es; lo pueden prender». 49 Enseguida se acercó a Jesús y dijo: «¡Salve, Rabí(BE)!». Y lo besó[t]. 50 «Amigo(BF), haz lo que viniste a hacer», le dijo Jesús. Entonces ellos se acercaron, echaron mano a Jesús y lo arrestaron.
51 Y uno de los que estaban con Jesús, extendiendo la mano, sacó su espada(BG), e hiriendo al siervo del sumo sacerdote, le cortó[u] la oreja(BH). 52 Entonces Jesús le dijo*: «Vuelve tu espada a su sitio, porque todos los que tomen la espada, a espada perecerán(BI). 53 ¿O piensas que no puedo rogar a Mi Padre, y Él pondría a Mi disposición ahora mismo más de doce legiones[v](BJ)de ángeles(BK)? 54 Pero, ¿cómo se cumplirían entonces las Escrituras(BL)que dicen que así debe suceder?».
55 En aquel momento[w] Jesús dijo a la muchedumbre: «¿Cómo contra un ladrón han salido con espadas y palos para asegurarse que me arrestaban? Cada día me sentaba en el templo para enseñar(BM), y no me prendieron. 56 Pero todo esto ha sucedido para que se cumplan las Escrituras(BN)de los profetas». Entonces todos los discípulos lo abandonaron y huyeron.
Jesús ante el Concilio
57 (BO)Los que prendieron a Jesús lo llevaron ante el sumo sacerdote Caifás, donde estaban reunidos los escribas y los ancianos(BP). 58 Pedro fue siguiendo de lejos(BQ) a Jesús hasta el patio del sumo sacerdote(BR), y entrando[x], se sentó con los guardias[y](BS) para ver el fin de todo aquello.
59 Y los principales sacerdotes y todo el Concilio[z](BT) procuraban obtener falso testimonio contra Él, con el fin de dar muerte a Jesús, 60 y no lo hallaron a pesar de que se presentaron muchos falsos testigos. Pero más tarde se presentaron dos(BU), 61 que dijeron: «Este declaró: “Yo puedo destruir el templo[aa] de Dios y en[ab] tres días reedificarlo(BV)”».
62 Entonces el sumo sacerdote, levantándose, le dijo: «¿No respondes nada? ¿Qué testifican estos contra Ti?». 63 Pero Jesús se quedó callado(BW). Y el sumo sacerdote le dijo(BX): «Te ordeno(BY) por el Dios viviente(BZ) que nos digas si Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios(CA)». 64 Jesús le contestó*: «Tú mismo lo has dicho(CB); sin embargo, a ustedes les digo que desde ahora verán al Hijo del Hombre sentado a la diestra del Poder(CC), y viniendo sobre las nubes del cielo(CD)».
65 Entonces el sumo sacerdote rasgó sus vestiduras, diciendo: «¡Ha blasfemado! ¿Qué necesidad tenemos de más testigos(CE)? Ahora mismo ustedes han oído la blasfemia. 66 ¿Qué les parece?». «¡Él es digno de muerte(CF)!», le contestaron. 67 Entonces le escupieron en el rostro y le dieron puñetazos; y otros lo abofeteaban[ac](CG), 68 y le decían: «Adivina[ad], Cristo, ¿quién es el que te ha golpeado(CH)?».
La negación de Pedro
69 (CI)Pedro estaba sentado afuera en el patio(CJ), y una sirvienta se le acercó y dijo: «Tú también estabas con Jesús el galileo». 70 Pero él lo negó delante de todos ellos, diciendo: «No sé de qué hablas».
71 Cuando salió al portal, lo vio otra sirvienta y dijo* a los que estaban allí: «Este estaba con Jesús el Nazareno». 72 Y otra vez él lo negó con juramento: «¡Yo no conozco a ese[ae] hombre!».
73 Un poco después se acercaron los que estaban allí y dijeron a Pedro: «Seguro que tú también eres uno de ellos, porque aun tu manera de hablar te descubre(CK)». 74 Entonces él comenzó a maldecir y a jurar: «¡Yo no conozco al hombre!». Y al instante un gallo cantó. 75 Pedro se acordó de lo que[af] Jesús había dicho: «Antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces(CL)». Y saliendo afuera, lloró amargamente.

The Plot Against Jesus(A)
26 When Jesus had finished saying all these things,(B) he said to his disciples, 2 “As you know, the Passover(C) is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled(D) in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,(E) 4 and they schemed to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.(F) 5 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or there may be a riot(G) among the people.”
Jesus Anointed at Bethany(H)(I)
6 While Jesus was in Bethany(J) in the home of Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. 9 “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.”
10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you,[a](K) but you will not always have me. 12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.(L) 13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus(M)
14 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot(N)—went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver.(O) 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
The Last Supper(P)(Q)(R)
17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread,(S) the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”(T)
18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time(U) is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21 And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”(V)
22 They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”
23 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.(W) 24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him.(X) But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
25 Then Judas, the one who would betray him,(Y) said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”(Z)
Jesus answered, “You have said so.”
26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(AA) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
27 Then he took a cup,(AB) and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[b] covenant,(AC) which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.(AD) 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you(AE) in my Father’s kingdom.”
30 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.(AF)
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(AG)
31 Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me,(AH) for it is written:
32 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”(AJ)
33 Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.”
34 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”(AK)
35 But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you,(AL) I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.
Gethsemane(AM)
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee(AN) along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow(AO) to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”(AP)
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup(AQ) be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”(AR)
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me(AS) for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(AT) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”(AU)
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour(AV) has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Jesus Arrested(AW)
47 While he was still speaking, Judas,(AX) one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!”(AY) and kissed him.
50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”[d](AZ)
Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword,(BA) drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.(BB)
52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.(BC) 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?(BD) 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled(BE) that say it must happen in this way?”
55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching,(BF) and you did not arrest me. 56 But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.”(BG) Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.
Jesus Before the Sanhedrin(BH)
57 Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas(BI) the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. 58 But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest.(BJ) He entered and sat down with the guards(BK) to see the outcome.
59 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin(BL) were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. 60 But they did not find any, though many false witnesses(BM) came forward.
Finally two(BN) came forward 61 and declared, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”(BO)
62 Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 63 But Jesus remained silent.(BP)
The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath(BQ) by the living God:(BR) Tell us if you are the Messiah,(BS) the Son of God.”(BT)
64 “You have said so,”(BU) Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One(BV) and coming on the clouds of heaven.”[e](BW)
65 Then the high priest tore his clothes(BX) and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. 66 What do you think?”
“He is worthy of death,”(BY) they answered.
67 Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists.(BZ) Others slapped him 68 and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you?”(CA)
Peter Disowns Jesus(CB)
69 Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. “You also were with Jesus of Galilee,” she said.
70 But he denied it before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.
71 Then he went out to the gateway, where another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 He denied it again, with an oath: “I don’t know the man!”
73 After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, “Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.”
74 Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”
Immediately a rooster crowed. 75 Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”(CC) And he went outside and wept bitterly.
